New free dining offer yeaaah

More of a picking up tickets, then cancelling reservation thing.

Wow. Yeah, cancellation fee isn't that high... a lot lower than someone booking with an 8 day no expiration park hopper or something for a whole family. wow.
still different than what happened with us, though.

Quick question for anyone who happens to be up at this hour... We are checking in on a Sunday and checking out on Thursday. I wanted to do a resorts/Christmas decorations tour day on Sunday instead of the parks. So, that would leave one of our days tickets for our checkout day on Thursday. I figured we would check out early, go to one of the parks and stay at least through lunch before leaving for home. Now the question is, I know we can eat at one of the resort restaurants without needing a park ticket on Sunday. However, will we be allowed to use our dining plan without using a park ticket that day? In that same token, if we decide that we want to eat lunch on Thursday after we check out, would we be able to use the dining plan for that? We would still have one day of park tickets left but would checking out of our room close out our dining plan and leave us unable to use it in the parks Thursday? If anyone can cypher through all this and help me out I'd appreciate it. I am trying to make some ADR's but running into trouble not knowing whether or not I can use the dining plan Thursday after check out.

I believe it. We did early ticket pickup last year... and well, we realized a glitch there and wondered how many have taken advantage of said glitch.

So I had to put on my thinking cap. Good grief. I guess I'm not conniving enough to even think up doing something like that. :sad2:

Surely there's a way to close the loophole so others, that've been good and honest, aren't penalized. This is very disappointing.

Your dining plan credits are good up until midnight on the day you check out. So if you have any credits left on Thursday then you will be able to use them!

The dining plan is tied to the number of stays (nights) in your resort, not tickets. So, using a ticket really has nothing to do with your plan/credits. Once you check in , you are good to go.

I hope I have helped some. if I have made any mistakes, someone will be along with more knowledge but this is what we have been told and are accustomed to when using the dining plan.

Thank you so much. Now I can finish up my ADR's!!

No problem.

As long as you have tickets to get into the park that Thursday, you have dining credits left, you will have no problems eating lunch that day.

We always find we have a few quick service and snack credits that last day. We always end up getting some of the 'portable' food, bags of chips, cookies and drinks to eat on the way home!

Since you are in Greenville (GOOOO PIRATES!!) and driving, it may be that you can also get some snacks for the drive as well. We are a little further south than you, but that drive is a long one!

Have been nervous about my FD reservation and showing up and having 3 days without tickets....after what have been reading on here the past day, and also just thinking in general what if policy were to change between then and when I show up for my trip....don't want to take chance of getting there and having no tickets.

Am going to switch to the AP rate instead. Actually, AP saves me $40 more than FD did... but with FD I had 2 extra 2-day tickets to hold onto for future use for the cost of that $40.

When I placed my room only reservation for the first 3 days of the trip, the CM specifically told me that I could go to Guest Relations and pick up my tickets 3 days early. She is the one who brought it up, so it wasn't in response to a question that she didn't know the answer to.

OMG! Thought I would have a stress heart attack yesterday waiting to hear from my travel agent!! LOL~ I didn't hear from her til 4pm!
I cannot stand when things are in other peoples hands, but she CAME THRU!! :thumbsup2

Got FREE DINING Starting Oct 2 :banana:
Saved $700.00 off our trip!! and It's my birthday month! SO that's MY present to myself, tee hee :yay::yay:
My kids don't even know yet, they had a sleepover at Grandma's, they are gonna freak!

Hope everyone's Disney Dining Dreams all come thru :wizard:

Now that I've read the answers to my question a few posts back (post 2225), I'm just sick to my stomach.

I'm trying to call Guest Relations directly but it seems that I'm in the same menu option as everyone else trying to make reservations (I just want an answer to that one question!!) . Last night I called the number and it said welcome to GR the office is now closed...today, nothing. Been on hold forever! What's the chance of getting someone that knows the true answer if it isn't someone that physically works at the GR offices at Disney?!?!?!

why not book on line? I just finished booking our trip on line.
I just booked POR for 4 adults 2 kids with free dining 2641.77!!!!! I paid more than that just last month for 2 adults and 2 kids same resort! Thank you Danny!!!!

It won't let me post the link because I am too new to the message boards but the new deals should be online... if not, instant chat with a CM and ask them for the link for the new free dining.

Not sure this qualifies as help but...I was on the phone with a CM about 30 minutes ago making some changes to my reservation. For one of the changes, she had to place me on hold and get in touch with Guest Relations. She came back to me twice to apologize for the wait and said she herself was on hold for them. She also said that it's extremely busy and they "only have one Guest Relations person at the desk this morning." So, I guess hang in there and hopefully you will get someone soon. Hope you get the answer you wanted :wizard:

After speaking to a CM on the reservation line and he said "No, they've never been able to pick up park tickets early in the 5 years he's been there and to call the hotel directly"...so called hotel "No, you can't get tickets early....it used to be 24 hours." So I insisted that they put me through to someone at a GR office (got someone at the Epcot desk) and wouldn't you know YOU CAN GET YOUR TIX 3 DAYS PRIOR TO THE START OF YOUR PACKAGE!! You need to go to a GR Office that is located outside of the park (DHS or International gateway entrance at Epcot...told me not DTD, not sure why) and they will do it!!

I'm so relieved!:cool1: I knew the Disers were right!:thumbsup2

I think the problem is that even if the CMs on the reservation line live locally and go to WDW occasionally, they don't deal with the nuances of ticketing and resorts day to day. Good job on getting that info though! :cheer2:

PHefner. No worries!!! This issue was addressed yesterday on the "Theme Parks and Strategies" board in the thread titled "Picking up tickets early". One of our fellow disboarders called guest relations and it was confirmed that tickets still CAN be picked up early! Another member who is a ticketing CM also confirmed this. I will try to post the link for you, but if it doesn't work you can just go over to that board/thread:)

Edit--Woops sorry! I must have been typing this as you were posting your second post. Glad you found the information you needed!

Thanks PHefner and momof2chipmunks for the confirmation! I was sweating it for a bit, because our first 3 days are room only before free dining kicks in and we will need to pick up our tickets early. Looking forward to December 8!

Thank you! Seriously NOT sure how I missed that thread...I've been on these boards nonstop for 3 days!!! :rotfl2: I guess now we have a couple confirmations! ;)

Do we know why I was told to go to a GSO outside of one of the parks (ie the entrance at International Gateway or DHS) to get these tickets early....can't this be done at DTD? He told me not to go to DTD?!?!

Out of curiosity is anyone shocked over the March 2012 dates for next year? I mean a person could check in March 31st for two weeks and get free dining? April 1st is Palm Sunday. That means if you check in the Saturday before, you can have free dining leading up to Easter! :scared1:

I mean it's one of the BUSIEST times and they offer free dining? WOW:eek:

I just don't get that, other than the rack rate for that time frame MORE than makes up for the "free" dining.
