New free dining offer yeaaah

I booked our trip back in January. I booked with dp not assuming fd would come out... but here is my dilemma:

Dh is not sure when of if he will be able to go with us. All issues of airfare aside.. if we have to change his arrival.. but he is in the same room.. how does that affect the dp? Would we still book him for the same number of nights? And then we would have his credits to use until he got there?

I am very confused about what I am going to do...

TIA

Before I even find out if the rumor is true tomorrow, I want confirm what my dates officially are in Disney's eyes for FD promotion purposes.

Specifically, I arrive at MCO late on the final night of eligibility (say Oct 8), but by the time I get my luggage and Magical Express drops me off at the resort, it will be after midnight on Oct 9 when the promotion is not on.

I am still reserved for and paying for that night, Oct 8, but technically not checking in until the next day (albeit very early)...so I should still be eligible for FD, right?

What date is your check-in on your itinerary from Disney? Maybe a rental car and a drive yourself, might ease some concerns?

Not sure.

It used to be that, during FD, they made everyone pretty much be present to check in....they did a sort of head count. That way you couldn't "fudge" an extra person to get additional credits.

I'm not sure they do that anymore. In addition, even if they did, I'm not sure what online check in would do to that policy.

My gut feeling is that..yes...as long as you're buying tickets for the person, you'd get his credits to use until he arrives.

We'll see what others think.

I THINK so.

We've checked in after midnight before (late plane) and were a) still charged for the night and b) still shown as checking in on the previous day.

I suspect that, like many hotels, their actual clock doesn't flip until some time after midnight.....HOW late/early in the morning that happens....I don't know.

The itinerary states the 8th, but an earlier post indicated check in date was important. My flight arrives at like 11:40pm, so getting a rental would not make much of a difference anyways

See that is my thought too... that they did a head count. However, not knowing what day he can "show up" I thought it would reduce my stress to just book him along. I know that we would be able to use his credits... and I know that we would lose some of his park tickets (we won't be buying nonexpiring tickets) but in the end I thought it would be less stressful for me. I just didn't know if they would allow the "ghost" guest and let him just show up when ever.

I have that same question since my oldest DD will not be showing up until two days after we all arrive. I had asked this question before the FD offer and was told by the phone rep that we could use her credits with no problems (we have two rooms booked and one actually has her as the adult although the reservation is in my DH's name) but since you bring up this point as part of the FD I do wonder.

However, since the FD meal credits are given to everyone in the group as a bulk amount and not a certain amount day by day then would it really matter if the person is there at check in or not?

The last time we were there for free dining they actually went down through the list of those registered with the party to see if everyone was on-site. Didn't realize it was for that purpose....but it did strike me as odd that they did it. Makes sense now.

Maybe....though you won't get anything sooner than tomorrow.

And the Disney phone lines open at 7 AM, the web site MIGHT go live around 6 AM.....

If you're looking for quick access, I'm not sure the TA will get you anything faster. But then, maybe your TA is in the office earlier than mine (around 9 AM). :)

I will have an ulcer by 9 a.m. tomorrow morning waiting to see if she has gotten it for us or not. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Argh! I'm sick of the self-inflicted suspense! I wish someone would confirm this already! Heck I’d almost feel better if its not happening that disney denied it, just to end the drama lol.

Just wondering if there's any updates about FD tomorrow? Is it still on,or has anyone heard any different? I would try and read all the post, but I am not able to do it now.Any help would be great. Thanks

Wondered if anyone has experienced this. We have a package booked Dec 10-18 at Pop, including our flights. Dec 10th will be blacked out if the info is correct. Would it be possible to have the 10th dropped from our reservation and add the FD? I would then book the 10th as a room only. Trying to get around the increase in ticket prices from when I booked originally. Thank you!

I sure do hope this rumor is true and I am able to get it. It would help me a lot.

I just found out I have to have eye surgery and it will cost anywhere from $1,600 to $2,300 out of pocket and that's with me having insurance. Maybe I will put it on my Disney Visa and get rewards for having surgery, lol.

That's okay no matter what I will be at WDW on the 12/17/11.

Check out post #666 on page 45 for all the info, but the short answer is - yes, most likely.

I've read every last post on this thread and a few others. I must say I'm really impressed with everyones willingness to help out their fellow Disney traveler.

And I'm excited about this FD and really hope it happens. For my family and everyone else's family who needs a break in these economically challenging times. I'm figuring I should be able to add an extra two days onto our reservation because of the FD savings.

It couldn't of happened at a better time for us either as we are staying at Yacht Club. I haven't stayed at a deluxe since the Poly back when I was 15 years old. Yes, that's 30 years ago. And my daughter has never stayed at a deluxe resort. We drool and dream over WL and the BW all the time! My parents are elderly and will love the boardwalk area (I'm hoping ) lol. Lots for them to look at and do. They will only visit two parks in our visit so I would of had to purchase two tickets anyway. My DD and I have annual passes.

I do have a question please, is there a way to see if there are any conventions booked during our early December visit? I didn't think of that when booking the Yacht Club and now I'm wondering.

I do love the energy on these boards, its a whole world of people who get as much of a thrill out of the planning the vacation as I do.

Can anyone answer my question? Its buried under another 20 pages since yesterday lol.

Thanks in advance. =)

Thanks Kerplop. I did read that one several times, but the way it reads, I was not sure it covered what I wanted to do.

TA's have their own entry point (a dedicated system they can log on to).

Yes, but they currently cannot modify an existing reservation online...they need to call in for that too - but they have a dedicated number to call.

Princess Tiffany mentioned one about 60 pages ago, but I don't remember when it was or what hotel it affected. I would call the resort directly (not central reservations) and ask them. They're most likely to know.
