NEW for 2024 - Disney Dining Plans Returning, Exciting Park Reservation Updates, and More

Bet most won’t notice this either:

Certain select menu items require payment of an additional amount in addition to redeeming the number of meals required at the location.”
That type of verbiage has been with the plan for a while now.

An example would be the buffet at Cape May Cafe. Your Table Service credit would cover the base cost of the meal, but if you wanted the Snow Crab Legs as an enhancement those are an additional $21.

If it’s $95 per night then I think you could easily spend
$70 on a table service entree, dessert and drink
$30 on a quick service entree, dessert and drink
$5 on a snack
And use the resort mug for about $3 per day so still slightly ahead but only if you would normally eat all this food.
It would become a game in itself, trying to max out that amount per day.
The UK market, fed for years on cheap deals at OKW and SSR with dining plans thrown in (excellent value for years for typical 14 night stays) were very excited about the return of dining plan. Without knowing the price. Now for the typical 4 person family for the typical 14 night trip it is going to cost nearly $5500 from their own pockets. I suspect they may be feeling rather deflated, they used to be able to get 14 nights deluxe accommodation, tickets, and dining plan for a week for not much more.

I know, back in 2013, it cost us £2.2k for a 2 week stay at OKW including free dining and $100 gift card.

Bargain. We got a great UK OKW deal as well about 2015 think it was, not as good as that though.

Quick service meals no longer include dessert.

Also, the snacks seem far more restrictive than they did in the past. Our favourites were:
- caramel peanut apple
- caramel corn in the Germany pavilion
- variety of options in the France bakery

Based on what is published on the Disney website, it does not appear anything like that is included any longer.

New snack offerings are:

Wow, didn't notice that...if those snack offerings stick that is insanely restrictive. I have to assume in Disney fashion it's just not accurate or complete, but if it is....wow.

I don’t think it’s a comprehensive list but rather some examples.

It might just be Disney not wanting to tip off the casual traveler that there are better snack values to be had. I remember when we first went and knew nothing about Disney planning, we wasted snack credits on bottled water and such because we didn’t know better.

But I would not be surprised if some high value quick service places like the Polite Pig will require 2 credits. Or if select items like sampler platters will be excluded or require an up charge.

The snack options are way more extensive than that if you go by all the items that still list the DDP icon on the menus in the parks. I just don't think Disney can list everything on their website.

The DDP is constantly changing so who knows what it will look like by the time we can use it. But right now, you can play with MDE and set up online orders...the menus will indicate if an item counts as a snack. And there aren't many.

But they could still be negotiating with the operators of places not owned by Disney
