Is the snow actually snow this year or bubbles?
SherryE, do you peek at your gifts before you open them? What exactly happens during the light show? In other words, are the same icicles that are hanging off of the Castle also adorning the buildings on Main Street, or are there just colored lights on Main Street? Do they all light up in unison with the Castle or does the Castle light up first, then the trees by the Partners statue, etc., then Main Street, then the Christmas tree? And does this light show happen just before the snow, or is it off and on all night? I want details (since it is supposed to be so different from what they did last year)!!!
Again, I was just focused on the fireworks show. LOL The lights were - eh - to me.Why isn't anyone talking about the lights? They made a big deal out of it yet it seems like no one noticed anything special? I know Sherry and myself have worked ourselves up into a tizzy about seeing the new stuff so someone please put us out of our misery and give us some details?? TIA!
You're killing me over here!Hee hee! I have wanted to know about this darn light show and what exactly what was done to Main Street that is supposdely different from previous years, but we can't seem to get an actual account of what is happening! I have worked myself into a DLR holiday frenzy, grasping for any little detail! You, ParkHoppa and I are inquiring minds and we want to know!!!![]()
It's bubbles. Very light, tiny little bubbles. They look great under the lights!
Last year, I read an article that I found to be very funny that discussed exactly what the "snow" was made out of and just how much time went into creating the perfect mix for appearance, drifting ability, AND to still be able to be swallowed in small doses when (not if) people (not just kids) opened their mouths and stuck out their tongues!...my DD, who was 5 at the time, slept through most of the fireworks, but woke up to see the snow and immediately stuck her tongue out to catch a few flakes! Too cute. Thankfully she didn't catch any!

We were there too last night but due to the crowds (and needing to get DD9 home early enough for a decent nights sleep-softball tournament) we actually left the park just before the FW and watched from the parking structure. They were pretty cool. We could hear some of the music. The fireworks at the end were really cool-my DD said they looked like someone painted them in the sky.
We saw the tree with it's basic lights on (I thought it was a little dim) but my nephew saw it when they lit the tree and said it was pretty cool. The LCD lights on the tree looked like snowflakes.
The castle looked great again this year.
Here's a decent pix I took

Sorry it's not better, I hand held it and tilted it to keep a tree out of the pix.
Here's another one, different exposure

Best part was my nephew performed in his 1st parade & it was awesome! I had a hard time not crying.I was so busy watching him (and video taping with one hand) that I only took 2 pictures-here's the best one-he's bowing to his mom!

Am I the only person that cries during fireworks at disneyland during christmas time? And the snow...omg and now the castle, which I haven't seen in person yet...DH is going to think I am looney!
Here's a video I found on youtube from last night! The lights on the tree and the garlands on Main Street look beautiful! Same with the castle!!
Video Here
Sherry, I think this answers your question!!
What time does the show in the video take place??? I'd looooove to see it!![]()

Does anyone know if any of the lighting/snowing takes place earlier in the evening - and if so, about what time? My kids cannot stay up late, so we are only catching the fireworks after F! on Sunday (hopefully)....so we won't be on Main Street. I would love to see the castle lit up, and the tree, etc... before then. Does anything happen maybe around 6-7pm? I just can't keep them up late - we'll pay dearly for it the next day....
Thanks!
Kim
As for the snow, my DSisters stayed to see the FW in the park on Friday as well as the 1st Fantasmic (most people were on Main St.) They watched the FW from NOS area and that's also where they caught the snow (new location). They said alot of snow fell, much more than last year. They were covered in it.![]()
I don't think the snow in NOS is new...I remember watching the fireworks from there a few years ago and having snow. It also snows in front of Small World.
Did I read that correctly, Disneydaz? Did you say that your sisters experienced snow in New Orleans Square this year? Oooooooohhh!!!! That IS new!! I wonder if it is snowing in any other lands besides NOS and Main Street this year? I always thought DLR should just dump snow on the whole park, but it never seemed like it was heading that way! This is too much excitement to handle!!!!![]()

I LOVE that idea of getting the snow experience in locations other than Main Street! This whole DLR holiday season - from the treats/eats to the decorations in A Bug's Land to the snow in NOS to the IASWH lights and the Castle's icicles and the 700 Christmas trees - sounds even more magical than previous years, if that is possible!!

I don't know if the locations are new, but the amount of snow has been tripled. My DBIL heard a live broadcast from DLR on Friday and that's what they said. According to my DSis'es it was a lot of snow! Great news that you don't have to stand on Main St. to see it.![]()
