New Feature for SSR Grand Villa

The unique thing about these villas is that they are the only GVs that even allow that as an option. GVs at all other DVC resorts have no access to the 2nd floor except by the interior staircase. SSR at least has the additional option with this access.

At OKW, there is one ground level GV (for the first floor) and 2 with elevator access to the first floor. VB has no access in any of the Beach Houses. All must negotiate steps to get into the villa, all BRs are on the first floor, but the living room/dining room is on the 2nd floor with no elevator access. At HH, there are no elevators for the GVs and all have the first floor entry on the 2nd floor of the building. BWV does have at least one GV that is all on one level, but the 2 story GVs there have no access to the 2nd floor of the GV. For all GV's EXCEPT at SSR, the only option is to use the master BR or pull out on the first floor for anyone unable to use stairs to the second floor of the villa.

I think what they did with the SSR GV's was innovative adding that entrance on - as for the Beach Cottages, I think it would be a real puzzle how someone could enjoy a stay there who could not negotiate stairs (and there are a fair number of them as well)

I like the elevator access to both floors at SSR GV.
If this is perceived as an escape route for a wayward child, do not book SSR until they are old enough to understand the dangers of getting lost. I would also recommend a child leash at the parks if they have these tendencies.
OKW GV must be huge. Maybe Disney anticipated physically larger members when they built the first DVC. Kind of like a deluxe fat farm.
OKW is spread out to encourage walking. Original buildings have no elevators. Plus size rooms and tubs to accommodate the Pooh size members. I would not be surprised if the larger porches were built with extra supports. The golf course goes through the resort to encourage exercise. When the members get into shape, they can make the long walk to DTD and get a treat. Then they can work off the calories by hiking back to the resort. Maybe the resort is so quiet and peaceful because the members are trying to catch their breath.
Put away the blowtorch. I am just trying to make a point. All the DVC resorts are nice resorts. The first time I went to WDW, I vowed to make enough money to someday become a member of DVC at OKW. 10 years later and I became a member with a contract at SSR.
DVC works for me. I take pride in my membership and all the properties involved.

Actually I do not see it that way - to me, OKW is more of a regular type timeshare with room sizes and design to match whilst the other WDW DVC properties (which I do like by the way) are more like hotels
