New Fantasyland-Magic Kingdom Park Map

OTOH, I think that the new major addition looks quite small, insignificant and unimpressive on those "cartoony" Disney maps that they (oddly) keep producing.

Looks nice. When were there in April, I didn't know it was getting redone. I was pretty sad. Now that we are going the last week in November I am pretty happy to see some new stuff!!

The article says "Here’s our very first look at what the Magic Kingdom map will look like in a few weeks when the next phases of the expansion open. "

What opens in a few weeks? I thought the next phase was due to open "holidays, 2012" which probably means around December 1.

We are there in 2 months so it would be cool if more opened up before then.

Ok looks good but what I am most excited about is the line that says that there will be new phases opening in the next few weeks.:cool1::cool1: As you can see by my ticker I am just over two months out and hoping it will be open for our trip then. :cool1:

Disney has never said what holiday they were talking about. Could be Labor Day for all we know. Could be Halloween or New Year's Eve...we don't know.

They still won't say.

wdwmagic has an awesome report on what the MK Park map will look like when everything is completed as well as a great report on costuming for NF.:)

~Uh-oh, this sounds like "map envy." :( :goodvibes

Well, yes, in a way...
(But not exactly in the way that you likely mean it.) ;)

THIS is what I'm talking about...

There's a bit more emphasis and grandeur about the new area on the US/IOA's Harry Potter area of their map.

In my opinion, the park map does make it look a bit wimpy. I always imagined it being a bit bigger. I did see if I could find anymore info on the topic, so for more info see the link to my blog.

I'm still very excited about FLE, though!

By the way, all of these Disney blog can get confusing, but it was WDW News Today who posted this not WDWMAGIC. :) Just wanted to give 'en credit! Thanks for the update, though.

I think that's the closest I've seen to a real date, rather than the vague "holidays".... Still trying to decide on whether or not to go in Dec but that one word did more to convince me than even the free dining offer! :rotfl:

Ok, the picture confuses me. Is the thing between the castle and the mine train the former snow white ride building? the lack of scale in the image is confounding me! :rotfl2:

Yes. Also the Pooh show building.

What's more interesting is that there doesn't appear to be anything there representing the former Belle and Tangled M&G location that was behind that building. (although the little snack shop across from Comic Ray's is there)

That's what I mean about the "cartoony" little maps that Disney uses.

They just don't show you much of anything with accuracy to scale and distance.

Here's a more realistic image (though it's not as "pretty" when it shows the real rooftops, etc.)
