Here's one of my favorites, as you can see, the Boardwalk wasn't even built yet!

Talk about a day late and a dollar short. I just found out that I will be needing a room 9/20-9/23 and I see that I missed the 125.00 deal. Any chance that this rate may come around again, or should I just forget about it and move on. Sigh.:surfweb:

if you qualify for a govt. rate, they still have $149/night (internet only rates). AAA discounted rooms are $179.50 for your dates. I hope you get a good deal!

Help going back over 12 pages I am getting dizzy and not finding the answers I need but one (no MCO/ME bus from the airport :headache: darn).

Can you use Disney Visa reward $s to pay for the room?

Can you buy the Disney meal plan if staying at D/S?

TIA

use your Dis Visa rewards to pay for meals. We do. We usually rent a car, but have used town cars. The town car will make a 30 min stop for sundries if you need. We always p/u our liquor for our room. Saves a lot.

You can use the rewards card to pay for meals in the parks or at Disney resort hotels, but you can't use it for Swan/Dolphin restaurants.

Yeah, yeah, what Nancy said. Oh, and Shula's Steak House at the Dolphin is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo expensive. You even have to pay for a potatoe and veggie. That's one of my pet peeves w finer dining. If they are charging $40 for a great steak, how much will it kill them to throw in a veg and pot?!:confused3
Another thing, we don't travel w kiddos anymore :sad2: They are all grown up. But the grandkids are coming!!:yay: Still babies so will have to wait a few years before I take them down.
Another thing, we wouldn't drink any of the great frozen concoctions if the kids were w us. So we are having grownup trips for a while. Kinda nice, but when we look at the cute little families my "Empty Nest Syndrome" kicks in bad.
All you young families ENJOY your time. It flys by so fast your head spins.
:sad1:

I've stayed at both the Swan and the Dolphin and prefer the Swan because of the queen beds. I get a great rate because I'm a teacher. However, that $125/night was a super rate! Does anyone know if they'll offer that again for next Aug? That's when we're planning on going! The more $$ I save, that happier my dh will be (especially since he's finally agreed to go!) I'm trying to convert him.pirate:

Thinking of Swan/Dolphin for 1-2 nights before our cruise this October. Wanted to say thanks. I was trying to understand the room pricing (rack vs AAA vs internet special), and I think I've got it now. About the dining at S/D: can you make ressies through the hotel, or does one need to call the restaurant directly?
TIA,
Sean

No to Disney Visa Rewards and the Disney Dining Plan.

Humm, I thought since the new year D/S is considered a Disney resort. Thanks for the heads up. Back to thinking...Whenre can a family of 5 fit onsite and not cost an arm and a leg. So far only one mod and I hate the theming there. At least I won't be in the room long. :rolleyes1 I beter get to charging more and get more Dollars to help pay for the room in a deluxe. :rotfl:

The concierge desk can help you make reservations at the restaurants inside the parks, etc. at least they used to. :)

The Swan (Westin) and Dolphin (Sheraton) are still Starwood hotels and not Disney-owned ones.

But... the potato IS huge, so if you want one - split it - DO NOT order two! lol We really enjoyed Shula's... it's very similar to Ruth's Chris Steak House... The server saw that my husband was about to help my daughter cut her filet mignon, and he took it away and cut it for her! VERY good service!:dance3:

I just booked the dolphin for 4/5-4/8 with $159 FL resident rate. I'm also a passholder. Is there anyway to get the $125 rate? Is it still available and what magic can I use to ge it?

The $125 rate is for August and (I think) September.

has anyone wiggled there way out of the $9/day parking fee? And are there other "hidden" fees that they don't tell you when you book? (like 50cents for the USA today)

Thanks in advance:yay:

Alright! I made it through quite a bit of this thread, but just in case some posts from years back are outdated.....I've tentatively booked 2 resort balcony rooms at Swan. I am an SPG gold member and got a pretty good rate. I want to be able to see Epcot fireworks. Should I switch to Dolphin in order to have a better view? My mom has trouble walking and she'll have a whellchair for this trip. I thought Swan would be easier to manuever and I like the queen beds and double sinks. Also, with the Disney Resort AP rate that came out today, the price is now equal to BC/YC/or BWI with a standard view. Should I be that concerned with the great view I can get at S/D, or go for the Disney owned property without question, regardless of the view?
Any help is appreciated! Thanks.
