WOW - great thread but a very long read! This information will certainly be helpful for our stay this August. Anyways, I have heard that the air conditioning at both the Swan and Dolphin are controlled by motion sensors so they won't operate when nobody is in the room. Can anyone confirm whether or not this is true and if so, will it shut down while we are asleep thus making for an uncomfortable sleep in our "heavenly bed".

Thanks,

TC.

Tiggercat, the motion sensor AC units have never been an issue for me because I get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night! I've noticed that if a person moves around a lot in bed, like a restless sleeper (my one son) it'll kick the AC on too.

We've never really noticed the rooms to get so warm that we can't stand it. They always seem to kick on right when it's needed most.

Upon return from the parks, it might be a little stuffy in the room, but the AC units are equipped to handle a quick cool down of the rooms.

Thanks Blondie. I am sure that they will overide the sensor if it becomes a problem for us.

I noted that someone had posted that both resorts were built beyond the legal specifications making them very quiet. Is this the case or can I expect to hear the odd noise from the hall and surrounding rooms. This is what I am used to at any other hotel.

TC.

Just wanted to share a tip about the AC system. There's a note posted to the wall near the controls specifically for balcony rooms. It states to be sure your balcony door is bolted to ensure the AC works properly.

The Dolphin also has an area off the lobby where you can purchase all the tickets you want.

Have you thought of purchasing them before you arrive? We have used the disney site to puchase them early, save a few dollars and picking them up is easy. While you can't pick them up at the Dolphin, we have picked them up at the back entrance to Epcot, at Animal Kingdom and at Magic Kingdom on past trips.

Robin--

There is a ticket desk at the Dolphin (it is escaping me at the moment where it is, though :worried: )

Hope all is well with you & yours! :goodvibes

Can anyone tell me what Tubbi's used to offer as beverage options for your refillable mug? I realize it's closed for refurb right now and things might be different when it reopens, but I'm wondering if we should get a refillable mug for my 2 year old or not? :scratchin He drinks LOTS of milk and juice. I'm pretty sure that milk wasn't an option for the refillable mugs but I'm wondering about the juice? Thanks!

Sorry - only soft drinks and coffee are part of the refillable mug program.

The ticket desk at the Dolphin is in the same area as the National/Alamo car rental - right off the lobby.

Just subscribing....not going till sept 2007 but as a nurse hoping that a great rate will mean a stay here.

Yes...it's on the western side of the fountain, inside a little cubby area. In fact, the counter is directly across from the Car Rental counter. :goodvibes

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you Kitty!

The Dolphin's number is (407) 934-4000.

The Swan's is (407) 934-3000.

Good luck!
Hi Blondie!!Hope you don't mind me popping in here to offer another phone number for all SWAN/DOLPHIN fans? [/b]I have a wonderful TOLL-FREE *(FREE IS ALWAYS GREAT) NUMBER for these properties!

Please CALL: 1-800-227-1500 for the SWAN/DOLPHIN (*This number is actually the same as the other TOLL ones above, and you'll reach the same exact desk/location---you'll just NOT PAY for the call!!).

Hope this helps some of you, as these darned calls can add up, and take some extra $$$ out of your pocket in the long run. This way---you can SAVE YOUR $$$ to spend AT the DOLPHIN/SWAN *(as opposed to before!).

I also have a toll free number for the WDW RESSIES @ 1-800-828-0228
(haven't checked the latter in a while. Sometimes WDW changes these, as they want you to PAY for the call).

pixiedust: :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Can you buy AP's at the Dolphin? Also, we have one day passes (on our room key from WL last year, that we want to "trade up" to an AP, can it be done at the Dolphin? Thanks.

I'm staying at the Swan for 7 nights in August. I also joined SPG.

I was just on my AAA website (www.ouraaa.com) while I was checking out prices on Disney tickets I read that Starwood Preferred Guest members can upgrade their SPG membership by calling and giving their AAA number, along with their SPG member number. The site says that by adding AAA to your SPG, you qualify for an upgrade - IF IT IS AVAILABLE when you check in.

Call 1-866-782-7737 to join SPG or to upgrade your account today — simply mention enrollment code "AAA/CAA" to start enjoying the benefits now.

I made my reservations at the Swan through Dreams Unlimited and got a Standard room at great govt. rates. DU had a special that qualified me for upgraded room, which my confirmation says "lake view". I'm wondering if when we check in, I can be upgraded to a "resort view" (IF IT IS AVAILABLE) because of my AAA membership?

Has anyone qualifed for this upgrade at the Swan with SPG & AAA? (What's to stop the person checking us in to tell us "sorry, we can't uprade you because we don't have any AVAILABLE resort view rooms?" If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.......) :worried:

Anyway, if you are staying at the Swan and have AAA, join the SPG and see if you can get an upgraded room (UNLESS, OF COURSE, YOU ARRIVE RIGHT BEFORE ME ON 8/5 AND TAKE THE LAST "RESORT VIEW" ROOM!!!) ;)

Thanks for posting this! :thumbsup2 I just called and got my SPG membership upgraded to reflect my AAA membership. Now I guess I'll just have to wait and see if it gets me an upgrade of any type when I check-in in April. Can't hurt anyway!
