Didn't I read somewhere that DVC members do not have to be staying at a Disney Resort to use the free valet service? I thought I read it somewhere but when I searched the website I could not find it. It may have been in a publication I got in the mail.

Anyone recall this?

This isn't new. I've stayed at other Disney resorts (in April at the Contemporary) and flashed my blue card to valet for free at the Boardwalk. I've also done it in the past when staying at the AKL. It is a nice perk, especially when heading to the Boardwalk.

You can only use it at DVC resorts though.

That is actually the same policy that they've had all along. Members have free valet parking (don't forget to tip!) at BCV, BWV and VWL no matter where they are staying or how they're paying for it. It was in the last Vacation Magic as a reminder.

Thanks for the quick response as this is helpful when heading over for the day and want to grap a bite at the ESPN Club or Beaches and Cream.

This is not completely :offtopic: but...

On our last trip, we were surprised to receive free valet parking at GF when we went for the 1900 Park Fare character dinner. Not because of DVC, but DDE. The valet dude ran down a list of "Do you have's" and sure enough DDE was on his list.

So at the guardhouse, you just say you're a DVC member and you want to valet park?

a few times while leaving BWV (we always valet) the valet has asked where we were headed, we said 'poly for dinner' and he ran back and got us a tag so we could park over there for free.

i thought that was really nice of him, and of course he got a better tip :)

Yes you got to give extra for service like this.

That was nice of him to go thru a "do you have" list. Between the DVC, DDE and annual passes, I am never sure what discounts we can get and usually miss out.

We are staying at Boardwalk for the first time the beginning of August and I figured the DDE would get us the valet parking. I didn't realize being DVC members would also.

It drives my kids nuts but whenever I purchase anything Disney, I recite a list of discount possibilities to the CM. Sometimes we get lucky.

Thats what I intend on doing. I just bought DVC , am an AP holder and just sent in paperwork for DDE. When I have to PAY for anything I'm gonna ask about discounts pertaining to all three of those.

Was this a mistake, Jim? I've never heard of this DDE perk before?!

Free valet is a perk of DDE, when you are dining at that resort.

Wow. I had no idea...and I've already had two trips with my DDE. I probably spent close to $40 valeting at non-DVCs last trip!!!

Could someone who has used the DDE free valet parking perk explain how it worked for you. I had read somewhere that you have to show your dining receipt when you pick up the car. I'm just curious because DH usually goes alone to the valet desk to get the car while I'm still looking around the gift shop. Since I keep all the dining receipts in my bag, I'm just wondering if he will need the dining receipt with him when he goes to ask for the car. Thanks!

For those who were unaware of the valet parking perk, you might want to read about the other DDE perks (such as half price admission to PI): http://www.allearsnet.com/din/dde.htm

We've had DDE for many years (7 or so?), and we've never ONCE been asked to show a dining receipt.

We just always show them our membership card when they're taking down our name - and I think they make a notation right on the valet slip.

But YMMV.

We used our DDE at CR last month. At first I said DVC and the valet said "this is not a DVC resort" and then I corrected myself and said DDE and showed him my card.

All these acronyms get confusing! LOL!!

We were not asked for a receipt when we picked up our car, but I was prepared!

My DDE expires 6/30/06 and I will really miss it. We've used the valet parking a couple of times.
