New DVC Ticket Deal

We are traveling in January with sons (18 and 21) and each is bringing a friend. Since we will be there for five full days, this sounds like a great deal for the kids. I think a length of stay hopper was going to run them over $350 each. I don't think they will care if they can hop or not. Especially since it's January at the parks aren't open late anyway.

I have only two days left on my no exp. hopper and wasn't looking forward to having to shell out for another 10 day no exp ticket. I might just hold on to my two days and purchase one of these tickets for myself. :)

I've been scratching my head trying to figure out their marketing agenda behind this deal. You seem to fall perfectly into the group of folk this will work for, and I'm happy for you!

I briefly considered picking up a pair of tickets for my parents who winter in the area, but the 14 day restriction on use won't work. They might use the passes three times within that time frame, but they get too exhausted and need a week to recover from Disney days out. They also don't have smartphones and although my dad is a former tech, I know he'd have an issue with having to register with Disney to use his pass.

Thanks, Twinkle.

I wonder if they are losing business to Universal and trying to get ppl into the Disney parks? :confused3

Must be. I think this deal is cheaper than a 3 day ticket, so they seem to be targeting those guests that only do 2 or 3 park days, but stay in DVC units for longer stays.

You know, this is really annoying. With the advent of FP+ most folks who are going in Sept, October and 1/2 of November have already purchased tickets so they can choose their FPs. So for an already short promotion they are already cutting off 2-3 months of usefulness. DVC really needs to start putting out news of these promotions more than 60 days in advance of when they start. Another case of the left hand not paying attention to what the right hand is doing.

OTOH, at least we are seeing some deals.

There is a thread with Q&A on the dvc website about this deal. It pretty much answers all of these questions. We have no need for this deal, but if we took friends and family for a one time short trip this would work.

Non-members can view it as well. :thumbsup2

BTW, they confirmed you could link to MDE, but also stated the DVC member had to show ID to pick up at Will Call, which doesn't really answer the debate of whether you have to pick them up at Will call if you already have a RFID ticket or Magic Band linked to your MDE account (sorry to stir that pot again).

I miss that deal... It was so freaking awesome... Would love to see it again.
You can just buy the DVC AP and buy the Water Park AP for the same price as the PAP deal. You just don't get golf or DQ.

I think the main use is for guests of DVC members, which kills a bunch of birds -- gets people into the parks that otherwise might not come (due to ticket/accommodation costs, and by staying with DVC members and getting discounted tix you address both) and gets DVC members to use more points for larger size units, thus buy more points in the long run, etc.

I just wanted to update my experience here. I did an online chat with a cast member and asked if I could purchase the special $199 ticket deal for friends staying on my DVC points. She said yes. I asked if I had to be there to get the tickets- she said no they could be linked through MDE and they did not need actual ticket. I then asked if they wanted to upgrade it to a AP, what price would go toward the AP. She confirmed $199 would apply toward the price of the AP. Seems to confirm what some other posters were saying. I think it's great they are allowing us to get tickets at a discount for friends! They may be a little restrictive but the ability to give them to someone else is great!

You would not be able to purchase these tickets or AP's for them at the discounted rate unless they reside in your home and share your address.

One CM told me this as well, the next day another CM told me I can buy for others that do not reside in my home, I just don't remember up to how many!

Turns out I'm not going to be buying them, my DH has more days left on his non expire, but I hope they offer it again for next year. The friend I'm travelling with also has a few days left on her pass so I wound up not needing these this time around.

The same house restriction only apply to APs which are required to be in someone's name who lives at the same address (and requires a photo ID for each pass). The stated terms of these ticks just state a DVC member must show ID for up to 8 tickets. The only question is whether you have to show an ID at all -- same question goes for AP though since you can buy APs over the phone then link them to MDE without ever picking them up at will call -- so the same question applies as to whether will call tickets are activated upon purchase or upon picking up.

I understand that we can link using the confirmation number in MDE. But my question still is for A MEMBER THAT HAS USED THIS DEAL RECENTLY, does the member need to go to guest services, first use and "activate" the tickets?:confused3
THANKS MUCH! :):)

for myself & DH $423.88.

The DVC CM confirmed ALL the information I had been given via chats with MS that I posted earlier here.

when I expressed that many seemed nervous with this sort of electronic ticket, the CM indicated that members can stop and pick up a 'hard' copy at guest services if that is their preference vs using a magic band.

the tix are issued in form of will call # (standard 1st 3 letters of first name, etc.). The difference from other tickets I've purchased thru DVC is that this time both mine & DH's were on one confirmation #

I had no issue adding it to my MDE account, both of our names self populated with the ticket info.

I have 'most' of my FP+ scheduled.:bitelip:

Ran into what I was told is a known issue after talking to the technical department.

I already had MNSSHP tix and two sets of left-over 2-day non-expiring MYW tix associated with our accounts for this trip and corresponding FP+ scheduled. On the party day, we were just using that tix and entering @ 4 pm.

The issue I ran into is that the system is only counting 4 days of FP+ allotment. It's assuming that the FPs in place for the MNSSHP event are tied to the overall tix usage.

The Tech CM @ the help desk (407-939-4357 jik anybody is looking for the number;)) said they are working diligently on this bug. She couldn't promise it would be fixed by my vacation 10/4 but did say that...

worst case scenario, we should be able to book our last day of FP entitlements after we use the first day's.:scratchin pretty sure I will be spending lots of time at GS this trip.

Tech CM apologized & instructed me to check with Guest Services before entering the park the first day to request that the DVC tix be utilized and again to check with them after entering the park to make sure it was handled correctly and I didn't lose any MYW tix.

Also, told to repeat the process on the party night to make sure I don't lose one of my DVC tix that day even though we will enter after 4 pm.

She also confirmed that it is perfectly permissible to schedule FP+ if only using party tix as long as the times are scheduled between 4 pm and 7 pm.

I feel like a guinea pig.

Glad to hear that there were no issues adding it to MDE!:thumbsup2

Is it still your understanding to "activate" these particular tickets, on first entry that ONE person on the membership who purchased the tickets needs to stop by Guest Services????

THANKS!:)

Sounds like this part at least works the same as the process for APs/PAPs.

When I purchased DVC APs for DH & myself, I also got one confirmation number. Had no issues using the confirmation number to link a pass for each of us in my MDE account. Worked exactly as you described. Had no trouble at all making the FP+ selections when our window opened, either.

Hope the glitch is fixed before it causes you any troubles.

We had the FP+ issue with Christmas party tickets last year. We scheduled FP+ for between 4 and 7, but that used up 1 day of our ability to schedule FP+ with MYW tickets.

We never got one more day of FP+, but we didn't push it because we could still get traditional FP. At the time, we did not have Party tickets on the Magic Band, as that was the advice we were given at the time.

Enjoy your trip -- Suzanne

That sounds great! We are getting these tix for our Dec. trip. I plan to purchase in a couple of weeks, so please let us know how everything goes on your trip.

Have a great time!

I haven't seen this question yet: If you are only going to be at the resort for 3 days, can you use the ticket twice in one day in two different parks?

No for that you need a hopper ticket and this is not a hopper.

no, I'm just going to stop by to try to avoid one of my MYW tix being deducted vs the 4 day DVC ticket.

thanks. wondering why I've always gotten X number of confirmations depending on how many were in my party.

hmm, sounds as though the situation has been around for some time. If I am able to schedule for day 4 i'll consider it a bonus.

wondering if next time, it would be better to add party tix after the park tix have been added & FPs selected.

I will report back when I return.:)

I haven't seen this question yet: If you are only going to be at the resort for 3 days, can you use the ticket twice in one day in two different parks?

I had read earlier in this thread that you can do that. That would leave you two parks left for two other days, so using two parks in one day would be allowed.

Keep searching the thread for this specific question that was answered earlier. If I can find the post link...I will come back and let you know the #.:thumbsup2
