So I just saw on my FB news feed Disney is giving DVC members a ticket deal.

Since I am not a DVC member I can't see it BUT, of course, I'm curious- what is the deal?

Offer includes a 4-Day 4-Park Ticket for $199 plus tax per person (adult or child ages 3 and older).
The ticket is valid for one-day one-park admission to each of the 4 Walt Disney World Theme Parks per day (parks may not be repeated).
There are no blockout dates.
You must use your ticket within 14 days of its first use.
This offer is eligible for Annual Pass upgrades, and not eligible for ticket upgrades or add-ons (such as the Park Hopper, No Expiration, or Water Park Fun & More Option).

I just came here to check this deal out. Seems like a great deal for us. Do these tickets expire or can I sit on them 2 or 3 years and then use them?

Crud:

Available Dates:
Disney Vacation Club Members can purchase these tickets September 10, 2014 through December 31, 2014. Tickets must be used by May 24, 2015.

Saving $100 is nice....but not being able to upgrade to the park hopper is stupid.....

We are DVC members who are going to WDW with another couple staying in our room with us in Oct. They already bought 4 day base tickets (for over $600 for 2 people).

Would it be possible for them to return those and I can buy these for them instead, to save them over $200?

Also, my DH and I currently have AP's that expire in Dec. 2014. I see you can upgrade these to AP's, would it be wise for us to buy some also and then upgrade them next year (before the expiration date)?

It says eligible for annual pass upgrades. I wonder if it can be upgraded to dvc ap or of it has to be the wdw pass. Would they give a bridge price towards it?

You would not be able to purchase these tickets or AP's for them at the discounted rate unless they reside in your home and share your address.

What's the difference between a DVC ap and a WDW ap? I didn't know there was one. I've never bought an annual pass though.

You know, this is really annoying. With the advent of FP+ most folks who are going in Sept, October and 1/2 of November have already purchased tickets so they can choose their FPs. So for an already short promotion they are already cutting off 2-3 months of usefulness. DVC really needs to start putting out news of these promotions more than 60 days in advance of when they start. Another case of the left hand not paying attention to what the right hand is doing.

possibly, they are trying to get people who may be just coming in for a long weekend for party events to stay longer. not holding my breath, but wondering if I could purchase for adult children NOT on my memberships for usage on their upcoming planned trips...when I wouldn't be with them at the parks.:confused3

Have read posts here in the past that if you do have existing tickets associated with your account (MYW or non-activated AP voucher) you could still purchase another set of tickets or link several on hand and save the initial ticket media until next visit. Apparantly, you have to designate which ones you are using...not sure if that is an IT issue or you need to address at guest services.

I don't see WDW bridging this particular ticket at all, upgrades to APs will likely be exactly the amount of the ticket.

The fact that you can only visit each park once may be problematic for many.

It actually says 8 per household, not 8 per membership so I'd think it is similar to the qualifications for a DVC AP but it will be interesting to hear what someone is told if they call.

And I'd also bet there is no price bridging with this ticket. As I understand Disney doesn't price bridge with tickets purchased directly from them which is what this would be so no savings to buy this now to upgrade to an AP later this year.

It's one of those nice that they are offering type things and may work for some but it's awfully specific and limited. The no hopping and valid for one entry to each park just isn't what many people are looking for - at least that's my guess. Nice deal for those that are looking for this exact ticket though.

That stinks - wish they had done this a few months ago, I would have grabbed them.

SO how do you think this will work with FP+? Will it allow you to make FPs for any park over 4 days or will it give you an error if you try for 2 MK days?

I'm wondering because I would buy these and then upgrade to AP so this way I can spread the payments over time. Only if we can upgrade to DVC AP and not regular AP.

I would like to know that too. We are going in November and I need to buy tickets this week to start scheduling my FP+ soon. If I can still schedule my FP for the whole trip I will buy these and upgraded to DVC AP when I get there to split the payments into different months.

I don't see any good reason to buy these tickets, as opposed to something from Undercover Tourist, if you intend to upgrade to an Annual Pass. You won't get any additional discount buying these. You just get four days for $199, but you'll be paying the whole difference when you upgrade.

Is this correct? What would the price of the DVC AP turn out to be doing this?

So I'd buy the 4 day non-hopper pass for $199, that's not quite $100 less than regular, I think. I'd need to use it one day. Then I'd go to Guest Services and convert it to a DVC AP which runs roughly $516? And they'd discount it as if I'd already paid $294 roughly? (sorry I don't have the exact ticket prices in front of me) So I've saved my $100 per pass at the onset?

And I'd be able to make my FP+ for the four days of the ticket that I purchased but have to take my chances on following days until I did the upgrade?

Thanks.

I think with these special tickets you'll only get the dollar value of what you paid ($199), less the value of any day or days you might have already used on them. Since the special-offer tickets are unique to DVC, I doubt that Disney would treat them the same as other four-day Magic Your Way tickets.
