It looks to me like the AP is only worthwhile if you can take more than 1 trip per year. Because we live in WI, the airfare is too much to travel 2 or more times. We can easily get 3 years out of our 10-day park hopper plus passes.

I believe Disney goes back to the 1st day that the 10 day pass was purchased and then back dates the beginning of the AP to that date.

Last year, we bought a 6 day expiring pass and started using it on March 21st. On March 24th, we upgraded to the AP. Our renewal data is March 21st.

BTW, we hope to keep OUR trophy.

Do the AP include the water parks?

Only the Premium Annual Pass includes the water parks and Disney Quest. That's priced at $526.11 for adults and $464.34 for children under 10.
