Hi - we are in the final stages of becoming resale DVC members . We sent the signed documents and the funds today and they have the documents from the seller so I am thinking we may be in the Disney system by the time we arrive at Disney on May 25. However, we will not have a membership card or anythign proving we are DVC members will we? So will we not be able to get the AP discount? Is it possible that we will not be in the Disney system by the time we get there in 3 weeks. BTW we are staying in the Poly and BC hotel this time *** our points weren't available yet :yay:

I think you may be out of luck as it doesn't sound like you have gone through ROFR yet. Disney has 30 days to decide whether they want to exercise ROFR (which they haven't been doing much if any lately) plus it usually takes another couple weeks for Disney to get you in the system once things close. If things did progress quickly and they got you setup in time for your trip you could get a temporary member ID card printed at the SSR sales center when you get there and use it to then purchase the AP with the DVC discount.

Oh sorry I wasn't clear- ROFR was passed a few weeks back, the next thing to happen is closing and then getting in the system. Surely that won't take mire than 3 weeks from them receiving the check?

As long as you have a member #, you should be able to get it.

i hope you get it, but its going to be tight. we are in a similar situation but have a few more days ahead of you and behind you. we sent all of our closing docs and funds last week and we closed this week and everything has been sent to Disney to enter in their system. it looks like from other posts it is currently taking about 15 days to get into the system. we will just make it as we are not scheduled to go do until June 1. heres hoping you get in the system too. the DVC AP rate is the reason we pushed our broker and closing company so hard. we didnt need the points for ressies (we have cash ressies) but the $100 savings x 2 on APs will sure be nice!

What date is your closing scheduled for? Once that's done, it could take a week to 10 days to get in to the system.

I think it's going to be tight. You should be in the system 10-14 business days after the closing. Be sure that the closing company and the broker both know that you're going to be at WDW on 5/25, perhaps they can push things so that you'll be in the system in time. Otherwise, I think that it couldn't hurt to take copies of your paperwork with you. You'll have the contract number, etc., closing date, name of seller, etc., and perhaps someone can help you when you're on the property. Or maybe someone here has tried that and it doesn't work? I dunno, but I'd give it a shot, you've got nothing to lose.

Good luck!! And have a great trip!

There is a good chance that even if you dont have your membership number at the start of your trip, you will have it at the end! So, you can just buy a regular MYW pass and then upgrade it before you leave to a DVC AP (or a regular AP if you still dont have a number!).

I think you can also go to SSR and get a temporary card if you wanted it for other amenities!

Have a wonderful trip! And welcome home!

If you are in the system you can go to SSR to get a temporary card that you can use for your annual pass discount. The same thing happened to us. DVC was very nice about and even picked us up and dropped us off at the park of our choice.

I had a very similar fact pattern as you about 16 months ago. Once you close u will need to call DVC and get your member ID number (as the member ID card takes a while to arrive). With that number, u can get the AP discount.

I didn't need even the temporary card described above, just the member number. They are able to cross verify that number to the ID u use to buy the AP. And u will be all set!

Brilliant!! Thanks for all the replies - it looks like we may be ok then. Now just to use our DVC points for the first time on our next visit.
