I want to buy some more points. However I heard somewhere that there will be a new DVC coming at the CR. Firts of all is this true?, second If it is, when should we expect this offer will be made? Third, will they offer this to current DVC first?

Let me know

Christian

Assuming the new tower at the Contemporary is DVC, no announcement has been made by DVC. Rumors are there will be an announcement next month.

Traditionally, new resorts have had a short window where existing mmbers could purchase prior to the general public. However, this will be a medium sized resorts, and if the tower is totally DVC, there should be ample opportunity for someone who is not a current owner to purchase, especially in today's economy.

right now the rumor mills says it is a DVC resort - Bay Lake Towers and the annoucement will come in July.

sales might start immediately (like AKV) or later.

hopefully we will know more in July.

dvc member generally get 2 months to buy, then the price goes up and the general public is allowed to buy.

this is the first DVC resort on the monrail - so sell out will be fast. too many people have waited for a DVC resort on the monrail - expecting many will buy at the CR - despite it not being first on their list.

I think the estimate was 350 units, the papers say 297 units.

vwl - 181, bcv - 282 - it will be smaller than the rest of the DVC resorts at WDW. if these estimates are true.

it will only be DVC - no sharing with CR.

The 297 vs 350 unit figure is likely due to how one counts 2 bedroom lock-off units, as one unit or two. :)

My guide was trying to persuade me to buy SSR before it sells out but I told him I wanted to wait for BLT. He told me it would be very large, so it wouldn't be as hard to get 7month reservations as it is at BCV because that resort is so small. Could be just a sales tactic!

well cr (BLT) will have GV - bcv does not.

bcv right now is the most popular. Only time will tell if BLT will get more request.

the sales people aren't surpose to know anything - they can get fired if they do....

If you want the new BLT then wait. Depending on the time of year you will be traveling it may be hard to get into another resort at the 7month window. We have generally always gotten what we wanted except at the Christmas or New Year's Holidays. We have to book those trips that at the 11 month window. The rule of thumb that I have seen is buy where you want to stay. Good Luck :goodvibes

1. Yes it is a sales tactic... Guides are Glorified Timeshare Salesmen, no less. As soon as they can "clear out" SSR they will start making money hand over fist with their next product, likely BLT. They will sell you what they have.

2. If you want BLT anytime soon, consider waiting until it is for sale. This and GCV are where I think "buy where you want to stay" will really apply. If you try to get BLT at 7months you will be competing with many thousands of members wanting to try it out. IMHO, you would have a better chance calling and getting front row Hannah Montana tickets. The excitement will subside in a few years if you can wait that long. I know I can't.
