New DTD Babycakes Delivery to WDW?

I am absolutely delighted to see all of this excitement about the bakery! We are so happy to be a part of the Downtown Disney Marketplace and look forward to meeting you all soon!

Emily, I just wanted to say thank you so much! I spent this Thanksgiving with family, which means no Thanksgiving dinner (there is just no way to accommodate me, but spending time with family was more important than dinner itself). You really made my day by being able to have a very nice breakfast on the way! :)

Ok, everyone seems very excited about this.. But, now I have a question as I have never heard of babycakes before.. I live in Az... I'm not meaning to offend people with allergies or anything. I know that is very hard.. But, my question is: Will kids who do not have allergies like these cakes? Or are there regular cakes here as well or only the specialty ones...

I promise you that kids who don't have allergies will enjoy the Babycakes treats as much as those who do. They are delicious.

We just left BabyCakes a short time ago. I met and spoke with Emily(who has been speaking with Disney about delivering cakes to them). She seems VERY commited to making this happen.:thumbsup2

I will admit, I was "that mom" repeatly asking "are you sure this is safe?" She even offered up the list of ingredients.

My DD was just stunned that she could have the stuff that "looks good from the glass case", instead of the divies cookie in the plain white package.

DD and I each got a cupcake(which we are saving for after dinner;), but everything looks WONDERFUL!! I will let you know how they taste.

Hooray Hooray Hooray!!! I am really hoping for delivery ! :dance3:

Enjoy! :cheer2:

I know that is how my DD will feel too... she is always asking for treats like her brother has and we have to say no, she has to have something different.

If you see nose prints on the glass case, they are from DD.:lmao: Her jaw dropped when she found out she could have "treats". (She is already trying to figure out how to get me to take her to DTD everyday LOL)

Hope you are staying someplace walkable to DTD!

I think we will need to stock up and keep a few in the fridge so we do not have to go daily! :rotfl2:

The "taste" results are in. DD asked if she could lick the plate! (She knows that is not allowed LOL) I tried a bite of the brownie cupcake, it was wonderful. Did not taste "gluten free" with that gritty feeling in your mouth. It was quite nice.:thumbsup2

I'm so excited! I have a dear friend who just found out that she's intolerant to gluten and she's been having a really hard time finding something tasty. I'll be picking up some treats here when I'm on vacation next week. She lives locally too, so there's a huge plus factor! ---Kathy

I really hope she posts back that she's come to an agreement with Disney for providing the allergy cakes. Now I just need to start thinking about which ADR would be best for the cake because I don't want to have to carry around leftovers in a park. We'll be at Poly and I have a 1900PF ADR on a non-park day meaning we'd be heading right back to our resort after brunch, but I'm also hoping for a Chef TJ dessert for my kids that day. Oh, I have an 'Ohana dinner where we're planning on going down to the beach after dinner so I could do it there. The allergy dessert at our last 'Ohana dinner was just the same old Tofutti ice cream we get everywhere along with fresh strawberries. This would probably be work. I'm getting so excited. I really hope this can happen.

I'm super excited about Babycakes and getting a birthday cake from them! This time my folks are driving down and meeting me at WDW, and since we live in the same town, I'm sending them back to Michigan with as many Babycakes baked goods as possible :lmao:

Can't wait to have a decent and tasty cake--love the Disney folks, but their allergy friendly cakes aren't the best in the world.

Looking forward to hearing the updates!

Emily- I'm sure you get told this all the time, but I hope it doesn't get old. THANK YOU!

I took my 5yr old DS on a day trip to NYC a couple months ago and we took the subway downtown after dinner just to try out your bakery. It is beyond heartwarming for a mother to take their food allergic child to a bakery and offer them anything they want. It was delicious.

I just heard this news and ran upstairs to tell my little boy that there is now a Babycakes in Disney. His face lit up and he asked if we could go when we're down there. Of couse, we'll be there adding more nose prints to the glass cases.

This is why we own DVC points!

I will be in DTD in Feb (President's week) and I was wondering how quickly Babycakes runs out of items. I can't tell you how many times we've made a special trip to a bakery that has dairy free items only to discover they have sold out of everything except one horrible flavor (pistachio, not a child's dream cupcake). We even go early, within hours of them opening. We won't make it there until late afternoon. I don't want to even mention the possibility of a cupcake or donut (oh, the forbidden donut) for fear of them being sold out...like always.

Also, how long will the cupcakes stay fresh? I'd love to buy a dozen to always have treats available. There's only so much tofutti a person can face in a week. We will have a fridge. Thanks!!!

Not sure of the answers to your questions... would like to know for our family too... and I am not sure how often Emily is checking here, so here is their e-mail:

DTD@BabyCakesNYC.com

Also, they said they CAN deliver to a WDW restaurants as long as you have previous approval to bring in a cake. :dance3:

We were there late in the afternoon and had a large selection to choose from. We bought two cupcakes and nibbled on them for a couple of days (we kept them in the fridge). They did start to dry out a bit by the third day.

Oh my word! I am SO happy to hear about this place!:goodvibes I've been gluten free since Sept. (and feeling so much better) but have had trouble finding delicious desserts. And I love cupcakes, really what's not to love, right? Now I'm planning to hit this place for sure on our upcoming trip. I too am interested in the options available for ordering and delivering to a Disney restaurant. That would be awesome!:thumbsup2

I am also excited. DD is going to NYC next week (well hopefully) and she is going to bring me some home!:goodvibes

You have no idea how excited I am to hear about the addition of Babycakes to DTD!!!! We always have to say no to my DD, and I then feverishly work to recreate everything that her brother and sister get, so she doesn't feel left out! I am so excited that I can walk her into this store, and she can really have whatever she wants!!!! This may be our first stop! LOL

I didn't see anywhere that this is listed, but was curious if there are food colorings vs the natural food dyes used at this bakery?! :confused3

Anyone know if they have PKU low protein treats? I have a littleone who would love if she and her gluten-free brother could eat out of the "normal" people food counter instead of bring-along "speical" food.

We are RVing which makes things easier with food allergic kids.

We took all of the spelt items off our menu for the Downtown Disney location, all of our baked goods are gluten-free! Our products are also dairy-free, egg-free, and vegan! We also sweeten many products with agave nectar, for the rest we use unrefined sugar.

Do all of your products at DTD have garbanzo bean/fava bean flour? My kids are allergic to eggs, dairy, and nuts (among other allergies) and my husband is allergic to eggs, nuts, and wheat...but they are all also allergic to garbanzo beans! So we've never tried your bakery in NYC where we live but we'll be in Disney soon and I thought I'd check in advance just in case....!
