From Jennifer & Dave passporter e-mail:

The following restaurants have changed their requested dress code from "resort casual" to "business casual" to reflect a more "upscale" feel:

Artist Point
California Grill
Citricos
Flying Fish
Jiko
Narcoossee's
Yachtsman Steakhouse

No flip-flops, hats, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, t-shirts, tank tops, or torn clothing will be permitted. Shorts are permitted when worn with a collared shirt.

So for women - skirts and sun dresses ? Or can do nice shorts (who's over 35 and wears tattered shorts anyway) and a nice short sleeve shirt ?

We plan on a California Grill and Artist Point dinner - so at least we can wear nice clothes twice and see which family picture comes out better ;)

Shorts and a nice short sleeved shirt will be fine. The new policy came out to try and cut down on all the bare flesh that's becoming the rage lately. Same things with the flip-flops.

Quite honestly, with the level of air conditioning in some of the Disney restaurants, I'm surprised these people don't freeze!

I'm hoping shorts and a polo for my DH will be ok. My girls and I are wearing skirt outfits. Although my kids were wearing flip-flops - I'll have to bring sandals. That's kind of a pain for afterwards and park touring.

I'm still out on this. A dressy spaghetti strap tank top and pants would get me booted from the restaurant, but a sundress with the same straps is okay? Are beaded thong sandals in or out? I'll be experimenting.

Sad to hear this.
Shorts are "permitted" !!! How darn nice of them!!! Perhaps a "dress code" enforcement officer at the podium, to size everyone up before they enter??
They may find this nonsense cutting down on business--mine included.
Saying I can't wear my brand-new Disney T is like a slap in the face. What's the "bare flesh" difference between a Disney T and a polo with that coveted "collar"?? Answer--none.
I trust they will come to regret this policy--or turn so many folks away that they will not attempt to enforce it.

TDC Nala: Try one thing on one foot, something else on the other. That'll give them something to ponder.

Anna: You are quite right--it IS a pain. They seem to forget that many folks are going to or from a theme park, before or after dinner.

Cool, maybe they'll let half of me in.

We have an ADR for Jiko on our trip, and I was planning on khaki shorts and a golf shirt for DH, capris and a sleeveless blouse for me, and sundresses for DDs. Since I do the packing for our trips, flip-flops either get conviently left home, or DDs use them to go to and from the pool only (the rule in our house).

As far as the tank top rule goes, my guess is that they mean the ribbed, undershirt type of tank. The spaghetti strap tank that TDC Nala desribed would probably be OK. But then again, I am not in charge of enforcing the dress code, so I do not know.

I'll be showing up at the Yacht Club steakhouse in a summer skirt, tank top and sandals. If they don't let me in, oh well. I don't plan on packing anything "fancy" for this vacation.

I'll let you know if I'm allowed in. :rotfl:
