New Doorway to Dreams mailing(Woodfield)

Do you think they will extend the incentive offer to Orlando sales office for those three days or will it be - come to Chicago or no deal?? What do you all think?

I'm guessing it will be only for those that show up in person, and only for the three days for members only. I can't wait to see what the incentives are!!:)

We are SO curious as to what the incentives will be, but we'll be out of town those days. Please someone let us know what the special offers were. We considered calling to see if they could accomodate us another time--but then reconsidered because we really don't NEED an add-on right on and would like to wait to see if anything happens with the Contemporary Resort. Just very curious!

I was rather disappointed that they did not offer more evening hours. It's difficult for you to get there when you work until 5PM everyday. It appears that Wednesday was the only day with evening hours.

We are debating staying overnight for some more shopping time - I just can't do three floors in one day! (and maybe a glance at Mickey on Saturday). :)

Can anyone recommend a good place to eat in the mall. Texas de Brazil looks great, but also pricey. Any ideas on the menu prices?

We could start DIS meet somewhere...

There is a Maggiano's at Streets of Woodfield -that's one of our favorites. Also a Wildfire in Schaumburg-not too far from the mall. Don't forget Ikea is very close too-some people travel to see that too.

If you like burgers there is a Red Robin in the mall. Yummy! There is also a Cheesecake Factory in the mall itself.

Rainforest Cafe is in the mall too! It could be "almost" like being at Animal Kingdom! (after all, we're probably going to see the models for AKV):)

My favorite restaurant at Woodfield is the Nordstrom Cafe. It's on the 3rd floor of Nordstrom. Not sure how late they stay open, but for a nice lunch, their food is fresh and delicious. ANd they have giant rice crispie treats just like at WDW!

Just about a mile west of Woodfield Mall on Golf Rd is our very favorite watering hole, Bahama Breeze. You may have seen one in Orlando just across I-4 from Crossroads near one of the access roads into the premium outlet mall. They are beautifully themed, have a really interesting menu, and a knockout great microbrew called Aruba Red that comes ice cold in a 16 ounce glass for around $3. There are many good entrees in the $7-$9 range. They have an outdoor covered verandah bar area as well as a firepit. Anybody that loves Disney loves theming, so if you've already done the Rain Forest Cafe and have a car, I'd highly recommend this place (plus we'll probably be there) :-)

We booked in at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield using Priceline!!! We finally gave up on downtown Chicago although we are still planning to spend time there. Can't wait!!!!

Hey--that's our plan, too!!! We love that place and haven't been there in quite some time! The onion rings....ooohhhhh yummy!!!!!!!!!!

There's also RAM, behind the Hyatt (if I remember right)--a microbrewery; another favorite of ours:dance3: !

Just some information. The Hyatt Woodfield was recently sold. I think the same staff are still there but it looks like a renovation will happen soon. And the Hyatt O'Hare in Rosemont just finished about a $60 million+ renovation. I would check rates here providing I had transportation to get to Woodfield which is about 15 minutes west. The expressway to get there is right next to the hotel. The CTA L Train is also there and it can take you Downtown if you wanted to go there but it does not go to Woodfield.

Texas de Brazil is about $40 per person for dinner. You can sign-up on their website for specials which they always have. Lots of times they have 50% off but for seatings prior to 6:30p and after 8pm during the week.

There is a fondue place further from the mall called The Melting Pot. Typically dinner there is 2 hrs and ranges in price depending on what you get.
There is a Weber Grill restaurant and a Ted's Montana Grill on Meacham (which borders the mall). California Pizza Kitchen, Mortons, Shaw's Crabhouse, Papadeux (cajun sort of near the mall).

We just got our confirmation in the mail today, which you are to bring with when you come. It also tells you to enter at the Improv. This is between the Lord and Taylor and Sears/Texas de Brazil entrance.

Can't wait!

You got a confirmation?? All we received is another postcard today stating that "spots may still be available for our Member Reception and Sneak Peek at 10 am on August 2nd and 3rd." Ran up to the mall today to pick up our computer which decided to die last week, so we headed over to check out the progress. Nothing has changed, it still is boarded up, but there are a number of signs around the mall advertising it. Can't wait until Wednesday:yay:

No confirmation here either. Hope it comes tomorrow.

I wonder why we have to come in at the Improv?? That's nowhere near where the Doorway to Dreams actually is. Weird?:scratchin

We received our confirmation as well. Just a word of caution, it had the correct date, but the wrong time. We were scheduled for 8 p.m., the postcard said 10 a.m. I called the original reservation number, the lady asked what time I thought I had booked, I responded with what time I knew I had booked and it turned out that it was an error in the printing of the confirmation. The CM went on to say that I was the 3rd call she received about the wrong time today and she didn't now if/what they were going to do about it.

Yeah, that's weird.

I hope this turns out to be more than a hard sell of DVC. I don't know what to expect, but I do know when we were on the Member Cruise last year, it seemed as if that their intent was to cram DVC and adding points onto us. If that's the case, it's going to be an early night for my family.

Yep got a confirmation of our date and time. I think they will probably do some sort of group intro or something prior to walking over to the store and since the Improv is more of a theater setting (not that we've been yet) it would be pretty appropriate for a large group.

I'm signed up to go Aug 1st at 1pm with DH and our 2 girls. I can't wait to see it. I was in the mall last week and the door was open a crack but I really couldn't see anything.

DS2 and I will be there too....slight chance DD will be as well.:wave2:

We just returned from Disney and things are buzzing about Chicago!! Excitement. . .anxious energy. It was not mentioned at the "Welcome Home Wednesday" or the "Summer on the Savannah," however, the CMs all knew about it and expressed interest in how they think it will do. One CM said that because the Chicago area has SO many DVC members and that Woodfield Mall has a lot of multi-state traffic, it was a good choice for the new experiment.

Can't wait!! BUT we haven't received a confirmation. I will call if it does not come by Monday.

Thanks for all of the tips on places to eat and enjoy!
