Hi to all my Dis friends:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

DF I'm so sorry your DF is having such awful health problems. Hope some of the wonderful nurses here will have good advice.

I do have good news! DH raced his car this weekend, due to a rain delay we finished the race last night (when we SUPPOSED to already be at the SWAN vacationing before our plans changed). He was runner-up in his class which is very competitive. This is his best ever result in this car and we were all ecstatic :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

The bad news...early Sat. morning while taking DD-12 to a Math competition I was hit by an uninsured, unliscensed driver. We were not hurt. My car held up like a champ. It absorbed the impact to the driver side doors and was still drivable afterward. Once the police had filled out their report we continued on to the competition and DD thinks she did well! I think (or hope maybe) that the other driver might have gone to jail. I did some serious driving after the impact to get control of my car. I am proud to say, I did great!!

My doors on the left side do not open anymore so I must slide in and over the center console from the passenger side. Thank heavens I am the flexible type:rolleyes: .

On topic...I am looking for the best rate to add two nights to our Swan trip in June. Does anyone remember any really good deals during that month in the past? I think I am getting our tickets from Ticket Mania via the latest Mousesavers newsletter.

woo hoo to your DH!

wow! you and your DD are lucky! I'm glad you are safe!

as far as rates, have you checked dreams unlimited? I think the $149/night is the lowest rate these days, unless the S/D have shown up on hotwire lately. I haven't seen any other deals lately....

I am trying to decide if I might be nuts  there is a thread on the theme parks board where people are panicking over the extended hours at the MK through the rest of the month. It's spring break, I know it's going to be crowded...I'm planning for it. I'm glad that WDW has extended the hours. we have APs, know what we like to do, and plan to spend lots of time at the pool....that's our idea of a vacation, LOL

I have been catching up with posts since I've been off for a couple of days and then had a hard time getting on the Boards - were they down?

Snowing!!! very hard here! Expecting 6-10 by morning. :( I'll take that fruity drink by the Grotto pool - pleeeeease!!!

Debbie~ so glad you and DD are all fine!

DF~my dad had his gall bladder out but he was probably in his late 40s at the time. The pastor of my school had his out this past fall and they did it by using laproscopy(?) I believe that's it. Not major surgery - he was home the next morning. Btw, lobster claws on my list to bring to WDW - check!

Disbug~ glad you're back - I missed you. WDW Boring??? Never!!

joanne~I am Gold spg and have received 2 upgrades (comp) from standard teacher rate - @ the Dolphin it was to CL and @ the Swan it was the Jr. Suite with balcony. If the resorts are filled, a comp upgrade may not be offered.

Just a story about car accidents - my youngest DS in 2002 had a minor accident. He was in a line of heavy traffic as he left the HS parking lot and accidently bumped the rear of a pick-up truck - he drives a compact Toyota (sort of like an ice cube hitting an ice berg). No damage to the pick-up truck and they were traveling no more than 15 mph. The truck driver is now claiming back injury and knee injury and inability to work. Our insurance company smells a fraud but it is still very upsetting to us that someone can be that greedy to go this length to collect $$. What a world we live in! DS is extremely upset over the dishonesty and certainly the financial implications this can mean for the family. How to explain to our DS about how some people operate has been difficult - this is his first time coming across the"real" world.

Not snowing here yet... 6 - 10 is the forcast for the Adirondacks...

Hey on topic... I saw that you can put in a reservation for a massage at the Dolphin on line... I really might give it a try...

21 days...:sunny: Until the frutiy drinks!~

I don't think a massage on line would be as enjoyable as one there in person :teeth:

Madge, I checked DU but alas...I am not eligible for the Nurse/teacher discounts! Wish I could get something like that "recipe club rate" last year. I would have my first taste of room service then for sure. Can you believe I have never had room service in my WHOLE life?

I will add that to my short list of fun things I want to do in my life....ride in a limo, fly first class, and stay in a Ritz-Carlton. I realize these are not important goals, just a few fun things to dream about.

Mouseteacher, that is so sad! Facing up to the reality of some folks utter dishonesty seems worse to me then the inconvenience of my cars' body damage. My kids had a hard time understanding how someone without a license or insurance could be out driving around!?

Here is a new racing picture from this weekend.

I think they should put massage stations all around the theme parks so you can stop for a quickie foot massage! :teeth:

LOU...~~:bitelip: :duck:

Debbie~WOW...what a CAR! Pretty nice. ::yes:: Congrats on your DH's accomplishment! Also, Kudos to your DD in the math competition.

Sorry about the accident. I LOL when I read the part about "flexibility"...you are too funny!

Your comment on the ROOM SERVICE reminded me of Dana Delaney's character in "Wyatt Earp." When Kurt Russell (Aka: Wyatt) asks her WHAT she wants out of life, her answer is: ROOM SERVICE! :teeth: Me too...I LOVE it, and still consider it one of the great treasures of life. ;)

Thanks for the good wishes for my DF. :D

You are such a GEM! I adore your entire list of To-Do's in life. Having accomplished these myself...I applaud you for reaching for these "FUN" things. I would never discount them as unimportant, or not real goals. I still savor each and every one, and always appreciate the "special" way I feel when experiencing them again. Take it from me...it NEVER gets old! I never, ever, take these treats for granted. Dreams are necessary, and keep HOPE alive. :goodvibes:

madge~I hear you! We too, have the PAP's, and never feel the need to be frenzied or commando while at WDW. Therefore, I never worry whether it's crowded or not! :teeth: There's plenty of room at the Grotto pool.

Mouseteacher~Thank you for the info regarding the GB operation. The LAP is one of the newest techniques for this procedure, and would be the least invasive. ::yes::

*Pastries..from Boston! How on earth can I top that?

So sorry about the accident involving your DS. How terrible. People are so very litigious out here as well. I believe CA has more lawyers per capita than any other state. Makes you wonder how such a person sleeps at night?

Disbug~I'll second the motion! :p

I received a postcard~With a special pin # for $59 per eve at the new POP resort! Since It is only good from 4/18/04 to 07/04/04, I will not be using it. I have never stayed at a Value resort, and would probably try it if traveling solo. This resort truly intrigues me...as I LOVE the theme. Too bad I can not use it. :( Did anyone else receive anything like this?

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

:wave2: A quick "good morning" and a bump up to page 1.

Still snowing lightly this morning and 2 hour delay for school... (*dreaming*)North End of Boston pastries, a fruity drink, room service and the Grotto pool -----wish I had that all right now! :p
I must wake-up and get out the shovel or I won't get to school. Better yet --- DH needs to get out there with the snowblower! ::yes:: *shuffling off to get him out of bed*

TTFN :D

:p Well here we are with a fresh 9inches of snow and a 2 hour delay to school! At least we only got about half what they said we would.

Debbie- Way to go for your DD (mine is same age) and so sorry about your accident. Glad noone was was injured::yes::

Mouseteacher-Your DS is learning a tough lesson at an early age. I hope it works fairly for your family:goodvibes

I was also considering a message at the Dolphin but am undecided...I had one at our resort in Hawaii (I think it was deep tissue) and I was sore for 2 days:scared:

Fruity drinks by the Grotto pool are getting closer everyday!

Have a good day :wave2:

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

Haven't been able to get on the boards lately. :(

Has anyone spent St. Patrick's Day at Disney? DH & I did in 1988, in our pre-kids days. Not sure if the Swan & Dolphin were there yet. We stayed with family and celebrated the day at what was then the Baton Rouge Lounge on the Empress Lily!!!!

No school delays here....about 5 inches of snow though so DH is out shoveling. Not that I'm counting, but in 15 weeks and 3 days we'll be arriving at the Dolphin! :sunny:

We only got a dusting! I can taste those fruity drinks now!

Which hotel is a quicker walk to Epcot, the Swan or the Dolphin? Thanks in advance.

I think they're pretty equidistant to Epcot.

Just read about DS accident Mouseteacher. :(
I had a smiliar accident when my DS was a baby. I car in front of me hit the brakes because the driver spotted a policeman with a radar checking for speeders...and I hit him. His wife was a passenger and he immediately started announcing her neck and back hurt. He wouldn't even let the officer speak with her, he kept insisting she was hurt. He never once asked about the baby in my car, who fortunately was fine. Those are tough life-lessons.

Glad to hear your accident wasn't serious Debbie.

Best wishes for your DF, DF99. I can't offer any medical advice but certainly want to send you a

I could go for a mimosa on this snowy morning....do they have those at the Dolphin??? :sunny:

I think all drinks including Mimosa's are yummier in the WDW:sunny: !

DF-:worried: Sending prayers to you and your parents to ease your mind and your DF's health! Sorry no medical advice I would dare to share!

Laproscopic gallbladder surgery is a pretty easy surgery provided the gallbladder is not too large and neither is the patient :)
It generally takes around 45 minutes to an hour to complete. General anesthetic is used, so of course there are risks to that as well. But most people do just fine. Some places keep the patient over night, other places they go home the same day. Many people are up and around to normal activities in just a few days.

Surgery has come a long way in the past few years. I soooo remember taking care of folks that had the 'open' gallbladder surgery. They had so much pain! The lap ones are soooo much nicer for the pt's recovery. Your DF will do fine.

23 days till fruity drinks.... And us with 8 inches of snow on the ground  at least we only got a dusting last night!

Debbie, wow. glad you were not hurt. What kind of car do you have?

Have a great day everyone.

Cathy

The Swan is a tad quicker walk to Epcot and the BW and the path to MGM. I emphasize the word 'tad". :D

Happy St. Pat's Day!!!

we were at the Swan St. Patricks Day 2001...I was pregnant with my youngest princess: lots of fun at Epcot....green sprite, face painting, storytelling.....

I guess I need to think about packing, with just a little over a week to go until we leave. I'm watching it snow outside, covering my daffodils

I am on the horns of a dilemna, too. I booked oart of my reservation through Dreams Unlimited, because at the time I booked they were the only place I could even find a room, not to mention a discount. Anyway, I did some searching and found that the AAA discount has now opened up for my nights. I e-mailed DU about changing the rate, but they seem to be kind of slow on this. I don't want to keep booking/cancelling/re-booking for fear that something will get lost in the cracks.....it's a little frustrating. hopefully I will hear something later today.

Thanks for the help. Just thought of something else. I signed up on line about a month ago for the Starwood Preferred Guest and got a copy of a membership card that I printed out. Do you get a regular card from them? How long does this take? One more thing! Will this give me a better discount (or any discount) at the Swan or Dolphin? Do you think that AARP would be a better discount? Wow, sorry for all the questions. Thanks for any help. :)
