I also enjoyed the Christmas cards and showed them to my whole family.

Disbug~I'll look at the store for your chocolate orange and send one with my mug check, if you'd like. You won't get it by Christmas, though. At the rate this Massachusetts mail has been working you might get it by NEXT Christmas!!

Joanne

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!:rotfl:

Unfortunately these HAVE to be here by THIS Christmas (darn me!) They are from SANTA and offense would be taken were they to be presented by "Mom and Dad"!

Many thanks for your oh, so generous offer! This thread is so full of kind people! The kind of people who keep Christmas all year round!

Just thinking about my Christmas wishes and reading of the serious dissatisfaction some are having with Concierge level service. My dream job would be to work in that department were I could unleash all of my creative energy into making guests stays the "Magic" they'd only dreamed of!! :wizard:

Hey, everybody! I'm Packing... (yes, mouseteacher... I am "packus interruptus" BUT, I have a suitcase open in the living room, one in the kitchen, and one in the bedroom and I have LEARNED from past mistakes! One definitely DOES need to include: "the basics": Starbucks coffee, Corona, Shiraz, Chardonnay.. ahem, I mean toothpaste, brush, lotions, soap...)

I GARGLE with Chardonnay! *(I tripped right into that one, didn't I!)

Will be up late tonight folks so may pop in later... the little ones are nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar plums dance in their heads! My pillow's gonna feel heavenly tonight!

You brush your teeth with Chardonnay????

Of course not!!!! That's to rinse and spit with!!!!! (and swallow once or twice)

Well, mommy picked out her own Xmas gift - the bag & extra battery for the digital camera that is still out of stock at buy.com. I should have ordered it right away.....I KNOW - DON'T RUB IT IN. Just with all the job change worry, the dorm bills & the quick Nashville trip I didn't dare. Now every day I check it and it says 'not available'. I may just break down and pay the $100 extra from butterfly photo to get it. That's the complacency you get when you know you have enough to pay your property taxes.............::yes::

I also purchased a nice rolling overnite case for soap, shampoo - all that stuff. I was using a 15 year old softsided duffel for it. This one was half price at Pennys ($49.99) and I had the $10 off coupon. Those things are so overpriced to begin with but I was happy at the $40 total. I bought blue so it doesn't get lost quite as much with the black ones on the luggage carousel!!!
Is that topic related enough? Will also work good for DH at job training.

Burning the midnight, oops make that 1 AM oil! Finished designing and ordering jmcross and crz4mm2's mugs! I am sipping java from my Disbug mug and awaiting word from poohbear7 and lovingthemouse that they have received theirs....:listen:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
I've been away since last Thursday...when we left for the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco! We had a lovely parkview suite, overlooking Union Square. Came home this eve, and wished we could have stayed longer (if it were not Christmas this thursday...we would have!).

I did read the post by mouseteacher (you MISSED me...bless your heart!), where the MUG arrived via surprise delivery. I know exactly how you feel, as I was literally amazed when I first set eyes on my mug. I too...showed my DH & DD in a GIDDY state of GLEE...and they gave me a sideways glance and chuckle. (LOL).

Here's a picture of my love...the 99 year-young structure, better known as the crown jewel of San Francisco...the St. Francis. I took this standing in Union square, at night. She is a sight for sore eyes...and with Heavenly beds in each room...she's a blessing for the tired and weary shopper (ME)...

Merry Christmas everyone!

We are off to my dad's house today for our annual Christmas Eve celebrations and midnight mass. Tomorrow morning Santa always arrives at our house, then we'll be going to DH's father's house.

Love your family and keep them close!
God Bless,
Debbie

:wave2: Good Christmas Eve morning to all.

I was pooped last night from last minute house cleaning, setting the table with my Spode Christmas dishes (I just love them they were a gift from my dad a few years ago) and to the supermarket for some perishable items. So, I was in bed pretty early. And, I was up at 5:30 this morning preparing in advance what I could for our Christmas Eve dinner with DH's family and, then, my family arrives on Christmas Day! Needless to say, I pretty much collapse Christmas night  but I do enjoy having veryone at my house and I do get lots of help.

DF~ Did you feel the quake while in SF? Glad to have you back on board. I remember visiting the St. Francis when I was in my 20s on a trip to SF and was in awe of the grandeur of the lobby. Of course, being that young, the St. Francis was not affordable but one can visit - it didn't cost a penny!

Disbug~ gotta get me some of that chardonnay mouthwash! :teeth:

Blessings to all my sorority sisters and bros - enjoy the holidays surrounded by your loved ones - they are the most precious gifts.

*raising my S/D mug with my Dunkin Donuts vanilla coffee to toast all of you* You are the best cyber friends - may we meet someday in our fav place - the Swan/Dolphin in WDW!

I love reading about everyones holiday plans! MomPoppins, love the holiday picture. Hockeymom, happy birthday to your DD. Disbug, hope you found the chocolate oranges! We are preparing for Christmas eve with DH's family! DS is now home too! I'm always so happy when he is home! Tomorrow we get together with my family at our house for dinner and gift giving. Then we leave for WDW! Merry Christmas friends!

I will post from PBH and the Dolphin.

Love,
Muffy

Happy Holidays to all of you... I have been reading and re-reading all of your posts.. yeah.. sort of Lurking in here.. I hope to become a new Swan/Dolphin groupie... I will be staying there this trip...and can't wait based upon all of your dedication to these Home away from Homes!! I will post when I return and I look forward to getting to know you all!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, FRIENDS!!!
fd06abf7.gif

I hope all of you have wonderful holidays with your loved ones. My DH is recovering from his heart attack and his sister arrived on Mon. I had to teach Mon and Tues, then we went to the Braggin' Rights game last night in St. Louis(Missouri vs Illinois) DH had to stay home, but DSIL went with me and DD. She and I are alums of IL and DD is alum of MU. Fun eve, but am very tired today, and there is no time to rest! I keep thinking of last year and our Christmas trip to Disney and Universal. What fun. I also like Christmas at home too. And good thing we are here this year.

A big S/D welcome to Valentine. You will love this group. Much support here. And lots of info on the S/D.

DF...I heard there was a blackout in SF. Did you experience any problems? We were thinking of you.

Posting this early for those who will not be around.....

Happy Holidays to All!

:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

I FOUND THEM! I FOUND THEM! At Wal-Mart! Go figure!... for anyone who didn't read the beginning of my "Disbug Goes Solo" trip report... it seems I spent more time at Wal-Mart than at any one theme park! :p

Okay, van is cleared out and ready for cleaning! Suitcases are being closed up and ready for loading. Mass at 3 PM (DD9 is serving. Must be early to be up front!) A little more house tidying and pick up the Publix platters... set out the luminarias, lay a fire in the fireplace and chiminea (backyard fireplace). Bake one more set of cookies, take a shower.
Yikes!! Still have to get the "Santa" bike I waited in line for at Wal-Mart on Black Friday! (Santa Grandpa put it together for her... what a dear heart!)

mouseteacher...YES! (Thank you for asking), it was "mild" compared with what was felt farther south near to our home. We are between Los Angeles and San Simeon (the epi-center). It was a "long" rolling one, which lasted a (seemingly) LONG time, more than 60 seconds. The last time we felt one like this in San Francisco...we were at the Palace Hotel, (A Starwood Gem), on the 8th floor...and I was awakened by the faint sound of the DND tapping the handle of the door (And the gentle soft "swaying" of the bed). I immediately sat up in bed (we were upgraded there to a lovely suite (PLAT PERK!)...and called to DD). DH was STILL asleep beside me! LOL. He awoke, and said, "What's wrong?" I replied, "Look at the huge glass chandalier atop the center of this room." It was SWINGING wildly. DD came into the room, and asked me WHAT was causing the movement of the bldg., and I told her I was calling the front desk. He confirmed it was indeed and EARTHQUAKE...and a doozy at that (about 7.3). He reassured me this hotel made it through the '89 quake, and many, many others. Like the St. Francis...it was built with QUAKES in mind. It was very difficult for me to get back to sleep...with the thought of AFTERSHOCKS on my mind. Ugh. Thank you, so very much...for your concern. You are so sweet, and I too, look forward to the day we are able to meet and "hug" one another. Have a wonderful Christmas, dear cyber "sister" of mine. XO

*The ceiling is hand-painted 24k gold, and is warm and wondrous. You would love our suite, and are welcome to stop by anytime you are in San Francisco while we are at the St. Francis!
Starbucks is IN THE ROOM...with STARBUCKS logo mugs too (just like the Horton Plaza in San Diego!).

Ozzie~Thank you, too...dearheart...for thinking of us. ^_^ The blackout was terrible, and most folks in the city are skeptical of the actual "cause" of the outage. It was the largest in this country since 911, and after this problem, washington declared a heightened alert for terrorism. :-(
DD and I were in the SONY METREON theater (Loews & IMAX), to see a showing of "Mona Lisa Smile", (as DD received an invitation to a private tea in Santa Monica in January for a winter admissions/informational afternoon for prospective students of Wellesley College). ^_^ DD secured a nice seat for us in the top of the theater, and I went to grab some popcorn and bevs for us. Just as I paid for the items...the theater hallways went BLACK. I walked back to the theater, where the safety generator had operated emergency lighting. I locked eyes with DD, just as the air-raid siren sounded, and the automated voice declared, "an emergency has been reported. Please exit the building in an orderly fasion, using the stairs. Please do not use the elevators." This would repeat every few seconds. As we exited via the halls, it was complete darkness again. DD was unsettled, and clung to my arm in fear. I reassured her it was okay, as we were together and heading for the exit. Once outside, I phoned DH...whom was in the suite preparing to leave for the shops. (He planned to shop Sonoma Williams, Sharper image, Macy's and *Tiffany's....my personal FAV...LOL). He confirmed he would call as soon as he arrived. Within minutes, we were reunited and on our way to dinner atop Macy's at the Cheesecake factory. We sat on the patio, under the heater...with stunning views of the City. The hot topic was the Blackout. Most folks still believe it was the work of terrorists. It was the largest blackout since 911, and Washington declared a heightened alert as soon as the blackout occurred. I quietly thanked the good Lord, for permitting us to be together, and have another day. I do this each day, but especially after any crisis. It was so good to sit and watch DD & DH interact about the details of this event, their faces illuminated by the moon and the soft candelight of the table lamp. ^_^ Therefore, YES...we also experienced this event. Never a dull moment in this thing called LIFE. Thank you, for thinking of us. May your DH continue to thrive, and enjoy a wonderful and blessed Christmas Day with all of you. XO Have a WONDERUL Holiday!

Valentine~WELCOME, KATHY! It's always nice to see someone come out of lurking and join us on this forum. We are a lively bunch, and enjoy exchanging and sharing ideas. Feel free to ask anything in regards to your upcoming trip. With so many folks on this thread, you are sure to receive an answer to any query! ^_^

Muffy~HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Please post when you are able, and stay safe. Enjoy!!

Debbie~Thanks for the link! Enjoy the Holidays with your family, and keep warm (I'm SURE you have Snow!). Travel safely...Merry Christmas!

Mom Poppins~oh Robin...You have a truly wonderful family, and many, many blessings to give thanks to the almighty for this Holiday season (& each day). Thanks for sharing the pictures, they are lovely. The "little lamb" in the center...dressed in green, is a MIRACLE...from the beginning. Like a star in the center of the sky, or atop the Christmas tree...he adds the finishing touch to your family. Enjoy your Holiday together. You'll be in my thoughts. XO

Bobump~So good to hear from you, dear friend. From your lips to God's ears, I too dream/wish DD always desires to travel with us to the MAGIC...for many years to come. You and your wife must be very special people, indeed. ^_^ Enjoy the Holidays, and the planning of your trip together. Stop by more often if you are able. Take care...HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Thanks, Dreamflight for posting them. Simply out of this world. I am way over the top about the Gingerbread Castle! I am using THAT as my model for next year's Gingerbread House party! The lovely family that hosts this every year has a son who is one of the "suits" at WDW in their IT department. (I guess that means he has to wear a coat and tie??) He is so funny and tells me I NEED TO WORK for DISNEY!! (Ya Think??):teeth:

Mompoppins Amen about your family! Simply terrific. Blessings every one! Hope Santa is good this year!

Mouseteacher are you still exhausted? I am energized and slurping coffee to keep that way! Fam is arriving in 2 hours so I am popping in quickly to say Hi before the Eve is over and the Day has arrived! Will be switching over to Chardonnay before long!

Lou, Lou, Lou What can we say? Especially after that poor smashed elf cartoon! LOL!:hyper: You are just right and too much all at the same time! Thanks for keeping us in a merry state of mind!

#1HM, ozzie, jgates, jmcross, crz4mm2, joshua4 :wave2:

Muff, ZW, bobump, princessmommy, soltswichfam See you in the MAGIC! Can hardly wait... and will not care if I have not packed all the RIGHT STUFF! I'll just pretend I'm a Girl Scout and "Rough it"! (At the POLY....R-I-G-H-T!)

A Happy, Happy Christmas Eve to all those on this thread! Be you posters or lurkers! Welcome!

Happy Holidays to all and wishing everyone a fantastic and magical New Year with many blessings!

Thanks to everyone for all of the words of wisdom and friendship!

I can't wait for my first trip to the S/D resort!!!
