kctinkerbell, The Dolphin is currently working on the 8th floor. They will be stopping the renovations during the holidays (thank goodness)! We will be there during the holidays and hoping for a renovated suite! People are reporting heavenly beds in their non renovated rooms so the dolphin is exchanging the materesses as fast as they can. I hope you get a renovated room too. Be sure to request it a few days ahead. Todd English's restaurant is not open yet. It is suppose to open around the first of the year.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Muffy

The Todd English restaurant, according to the SD website will open December 03 - yeah! We live just a few minutes north of Boston and are lucky enough to have several of his restaurants close by, Olives is just the best.

Can't wait to try this new one in February.

Wow...next to you guys, I feel like Charlie Brown on Halloween!~I just could not bring myself to brave the cold & crowds...so, the "deals" escaped me! I did, however, get to Target late in the eve with DH for a few things. DD is still battling Pneumonia (which she came down with the last day of our Disneyland trip), and opted to stay by the fire. She took the last of her Z-pak on Friday am, and began to relapse a bit (high fever and chills). I'm not sure if this is normal, and may have to take her back to her Doc.
Anyhow...We bought regularly priced V-games and some other toys, fun things. No bargains. :guilty: Seems everything I ever want, is NEVER on sale anyway! I've waited a year for the Duckie bath items at Target to go on sale...all in vain. So, I broke down and bought them all for DD last eve (from the shower curtains to the wallpaper...adorable!). I'm so happy for everyone else whom captured the deals! :jumping1: Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the nice set-up, Fred. I am so happy to have this option available. It's always nice to see who is going and when, etc. Thank you, again. Want to join our sorority? (LOL). We have several honorary brothers! ::yes::

Disbug~thanks for the pm! I can not blame you for the POLY @ that price! Have you talked with TIKIMAN about the prospects of an upgrade, or the best location? I would contact him asap, he's the consummate GURU of the POLY! I too, enjoy the restaurants, LUAU, Mass, and location of the POLY. Hope you have a wonderful time, and be sure to post all the details upon your return. ^_^

jgates~You are my SHOPPING hero! You kick serious shopping butt! Amazing. I'm nearly exhausted just reading your post. Next Holiday Season, you may pick me up at the nearest Airport...and take me along on the adventure! I'm IN!! :teeth:

lovingthemouse~Hello, Caroline. ^_^ Great to read everyone was HOME! You too, are a saint (cooking for 26!). 92 is your MAGIC #, (92 year YOUNG mom, and 92 days until you return to the Dolphin Magic!). I too, love the Holidays! Enjoy the festivities. :wave2:

#1hockeymom, Thanks for the update, Debbie. I was wondering if anyone saw the new flick. We were planning to see it next weekend. With so many new films saturating the theaters, it's difficult to decide which to see first. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Muffy~:wave2: Happy Holidays!!

mouseteacher~Here's hoping you enjoyed a blessed and wonderful Holiday with your family. I trust the boys are both home from school, and happily enjoyed the home-cooked feast you lovingly prepared. Rest and relax now...the best is yet to come. Put on the Holiday tunes, decorate...and ENJOY!

TTFN...time to decorate some more, take care of DD, and organize! This is the year I get my cards out early, and wrap my gifts in advance. HOORAY! (Yeah...right!).

Ok, I added ALL of the hotels just to make it easier. :)

Now anyone and everyone can know who's going! :teeth:

Spread the word people!

(Wow..."ME" a member of a sorority??? What would they say about me at home??? Heh!)

Enjoy everyone. Just sharing the wealth. Wilderness Lodge is my favorite but I couldn't help but make this little project have a broader scope.

:wave2: *room wave to everyone*

The Mouseteacher family had a wonderful Thanksgiving - relaxing day and delicious meal. I didn't have to cook (hehehe)- we were at my cousin's.

Friday morning we headed to No. Conway for an overnight getaway. I did shop the Settler's Green Outlet stores but didn't get much. We had a delicious dinner at the Wildcat Inn and Tavern in Jackson on Friday night. It is a beautiful old inn built in the 1800's--so typical of north ski country. It is one of our favorite places.

Fred~ your"Who's Going? thread is a nice idea. You really should consider joining along with our other honorary sorority bros... ::yes::

Had a great time in the World for Thanksgiving. DISBUG ... I am so sorry I missed you! I would have loved to have seen the first run of the mug.::yes::

Dinner at Gulliver's Grill at the Swan on Friday the 21st was excellent! My margherita pizza was some of the best I have ever had. Our party had 10 people and the 7 that ordered the seafood buffet all loved it. I tasted my mom's red snapper in shrimp sauce and it was heavenly!:Pinkbounc

I also tried the new restaurant at the Dolphin ... "Fresh" ... simply fantastic!:teeth: The selection was excellent, starting with a taste of sangria, which we promptly ordered. The roasted butternut squash soup started the meal on a great note and it kept improving from there ... a great fresh salad with swordfish, kabobs in chicken, pork, or swordfish, and great pasta. The desserts were yummy as well. I will definitely be back to this restaurant. And I am looking forward to Blue Zoo as well.

Glad everyone had a great Thanksgiving, Christmas will be here soon!

Thanks for in info. regarding the renovations. Silly question, but how many floors are there at the Dolphin and do they have a target completion date?
Also, I would like to have a refrigerator to store milk, water, and juice. Can I rent this at the dolphin or would they clean out the mini bar for me?
Finally, (at least for this posting) what are the chances of us swimming in Mid-March? I know my dd's (3 1/2 and 6) are going to want to once they see the Grotto Pool, but I'm not sure how warm it might be.

Can you tell it's been 20+ years since I've been to Florida and to WDW??!!
::yes:: ::yes::
Thank-you for your answers and great advice:)

kctinkerbell I know one of the answers (only because I live in FL!)... you can definitely swim in mid-March! Unless we have our millenial snow flurries! :rotfl:

The other questions must be answered by our experts. I think the Dolphin has about 24 floors.

You can request a mini-fridge. Our experts know the details on this as well.

Thanks for dropping by, we're always glad to be of help!

KCtinkerbell>>I wish I could help you with your questions! My ds keeps on asking me about how high up our room will be at the Dolphin. Seems "Mr. Fearless Hockey Star" is afraid of heights! I am not even sure how tall the Dolphin is, but I know CL is way up there and I am not telling him this information!

Fresh sounds amazing! I have read a few reviews on this restaurant. Sounds like a hit! Thanks for the review, Kelli!

Great Thanksgiving, Mouseteacher! Hope you had some leftovers to take home! We both swear that turkey sandwiches eaten at midnight on Thanksgiving taste better than the actual turkey with dinner!

Dreamflight>> I also stayed home and didn't brave the crowds. I usually go out with my SIL, but she had to work so it didn't work out this year. It snowed, so it was nice to watch the backyard looking so peaceful and serene. We put our tree up last weekend, so I had much more primping to do on the tree, while listening to my favorite Christmas CD (DSO's rendition of different Christmas carols, a family favorite!) DD drove south and braved every mall in the Detroit area and declared that the crowds were huge. The only store I will be at today is Perani's hockey store before we leave for hockey practice.... I think I am doomed this Christmas! I have only bought one gift!

Muffy>> I have been trying to remember specifics on my "to die for" veal dish. All I can distinctly remember is lemon! Whatever you order is sure to be delicious!

Disbug>> You are spoiling us with all of your mug work! Thank you!

Majestic>> Thank you! I put in my dates!

Lou, Rob, ww52 (the brothers) and JGates, Lovingthemouse, Ozzie, Lauren, JMCross, marymrg, Madge, zurgfamily, disfanrn, mom poppins family, Tinkohio, et al (the sisters).... room wave to everyone! If I left you off.. I am sorry!

Debbie

I was going to start a new thread but maybe someone here can help me.

I was thinking about changing my hotel to the Dolphin for my January stay. I am a substitute teacher and I have my sub certificate, but I don't have a current paycheck. Do you think I am still eligible for the teacher discount.

Do you think I should just work one day and have a paycheck just to be sure?

If there is someplace else I should ask, just let me know. Thanks so much.

IloveDMB~ Do you have a state teaching certificate? If so, that will do.

IloveDMB...I think I read recently that the S/D lightened up on teacher and nurse cert. I think sub cert are ok. I just can't remember for sure. You might call S/D anonymously and ask requirements.

Did anyone have a fried turkey for Thanksgiving? We did.....two! My DB always fries them and they are soooo good. One year, he asked me to roast one and he fried one, but no one wanted the roasted turkey, so now he fries two. Yum.

Got some really bad news yesterday that has put a damper on our household. One of our best friends has cancer all over and they can't do anything. Only give him a few weeks. He is 54. They are in Indiana and we will be heading there Friday. We need prayers for a miracle....tis the season.

Sorry to hear such bad news about your friend, Ozzie. Lots of prayers and PD being sent your way.
Debbie

PS The turkey sounds fabulous!

ozziewags-Thanks, I will call them and ask about my situation. And much prayers and pixie dust for your friend.

does anyone know- is it possible to stay free with Starwood Points at the Dolphin? Or is the best I can hope for using points for 50% discount?

Yes, it is possible to stay free with Starwood points. Just from my memory, I think it is 10,000 points per night, a category 4 hotel. You can find this info on the Starwood web site.
www.starwood.com Sometimes they have cash and points, which is $60 and 4,000? points, I think. What was it mouseteacher? (She did that this summer) Another good deal.
We are staying at the Sheraton 4 points in Louisville Friday, on our way to see our friend in Indiana. Anyone know anything about it? Won't be spending much time there, but hope the area is safe. Anyone?

I just did the 10,000 pts a night in November at Swan. Acually, if you do this for 4 nights you get fifth night free. Check SPG.COM.
Hope this helps
