NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Not that I really need a title, but my suggestion for both Loubon and I was in the other post was "Honorary Brother".

Just like Mouseteacher...LOTS has happened since I logged-off yesterday! We are BACK, and fully energized for the tasks at hand. Nothing like a couple of months to REFRESH ones perspective on life...LOL. DD went to her School this am, to p/u her schedule, buy some books, and then OUTA THEY-A! It was a brief stop. Tomorrow she only has school in the AM (Orientation, etc.), and is out at noon. Wednesday...she slowly begins the REAL process. ^_^

I picked up the mail (Two Full BINS), and have begun the daunting task of SORTING it! Overwhelming...is an understatement. I FORGOT to buy my Calander...WHERE MAGIC LIVES...so I had to call the merchandise dept. from the parking lot of the school (While waiting for DD), and place the order for 2 of them (one for my GF whom is planning a trip next summer)! I laughed as I informed the associate on the phone I had JUST returned from WDW last eve! LOL. She agreed...it's difficult to leave the MAGIC.

I have SO much to do...and organize. I have to start to plan next summer, and am already going to make the Delta Airline ressies!
The flight home was wonderful...four hours and 14 minutes. First class is still as wonderful as always. They have removed the curtain, and implemented some other safety measures since our flight out in June. We arrived at the gate @ 6:44 (I laughed and informed DH I wrote on the DIS an estimated time of arrival as 6:45~!). We boarded in minutes, and took our seats (Row 3..seats A~B~C). Very comfy and relaxing. One of the attendants had been on our flight in June! She was full of questions about our stay, etc. The movie was NEMO! We can't get enough of this film, and enjoyed it for the 4-5th time.

We flew above a thunder/lightning storm...with a beautiful display/show from DD's window seat. Dinner was Chicken with risotto, or the Filet. DD selected the chicken, DH & I the filet. Both were wonderful, accompanied by fresh salad greens, and bread. The dessert is heavenly, and one of my favs. The ice cream sundaes with either caramel or hot fudge...or BOTH! We all opted for BOTH, with fresh WHIP and chopped peanuts! This is served during the movie, in glass Ice cream sundae bowls. It's the finishing touch on a fabulous experience (for moi). As long as they NEVER delete this service, I'll keep traveling in FC (for the sundae Alone!). ;)

Once in LAX, we promptly parted...DD & I hopped the shuttle to the National Emerald Reserve to p/u the Durango, while DH loaded the luggage on a cart and stood curbside with the motorola radio. As we approached the area, we called him on the radio...and Met without incident. As quickly as we were there...we were out of there! Driving home was quiet and fun. It was about 9:30 pm when we left the airport...not bad, considering we left Orlando at 7:30!

My head feels a little "numb" and odd...from lack of sleep. Tonight~is Olive Garden for dinner (as I'm STILL kind of on vacation). Thanks to all of you...for pumping so much LIFE through this humble thread. I would LOVE to meet you all...and enjoy some laughs and perhaps a little havoc/chaos....in the midst of the MAGIC. I'll be there (in the world) again next July/August!

Here's a little picture of LIFE here at home!

hookedup, your top ten list (ok, eight so far :p ) is great. All of those reasons make me even more excited about our upcoming trip. After some trouble (I have a thread about it), I was finally able to get my reservation made using the gov rate by calling the Swan directly. I will probably be "lurking" around in this thread looking for more tips to help us enjoy our stay. Another idea that I would find very useful would be to discuss the nearby restaurants, shops and entertainment options.

In fact to get this started, what is everyone's favorite place to eat within walking distance of the S/D? Thanks!

Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club. IMHO, you can't beat it for the portions, friendly servers and the main reason.......the desserts! The only drawback is that it is a small restaurant and very busy. (that's one of the places for people to fill their mugs). You can almost always find a seat at the counter though........which is also great fun!

I hereby humbly accept this award bestowed upon me and would like to say thanks on behalf of all the little people.

I'd also like to know if there are any perks I'm entitled to. You know, Sorority parties etc. My Frat House is right down the road a bit at the Beach Club Villas.....

(Or perhaps you Sorority Ladies would prefer the Yaught Club. Not spelled wrong, just pronounce it the way I spelled it!)

My wife is going kill me........

;)

Hey everyone, I GOT A NEW TAG!! I am seriously ready to run amuck now!!!!

Okay, get ready for a dumb question here......
(I know as teachers that you are hopefully thinking that NO question is dumb)

Anyway......
Is the avatar that you are all refering to the logo in the square for the s/d sorority? How did you get it on your page?

I'm new at this. Can you tell?

:earsgirl:

*waving* you guys have been busy! I am totally cracking up over loubon's posts! Wait till his wife finds out! LOL!

jmcross>> right click/copy image location on one of our logos so you have the address copied for the avatar. Go into the user cp and go edit your profile... where the avatar choices is you'll go use the bottom options. Put the address you copied into the space where needed. BINGO!

9. No fights have EVER broken out over a lounge chair by one of the most lovely pools on property!

Ladyjayhawk>> For a very nice dinner.. go to Palio! Scrumptious food and a great atmosphere!

DF>> Glad you are back!!

I have to run... I hate to leave anyone out so I am doing the sorority sister room wave! I am off to football game/practice. Hockey starts next week with full practices.. ACK!

consider for the top ten list:

Views (Epcot, waterways, BW, Fantasmic, ToT are all possible views; plus I read there is an observation room somewhare in the Dolphin.

Architecture and landscaping - including all the fountains and large Swan/Dolphin statues.

As far as places to eat - another vote for Beaches and Cream; also Cape May for the seafood buffet; and the breakfast buffet at the Dolphin. I've not eaten at BW, but I know many of those places rate highly. I second Palio - though we missed it, I've heard great things about it. Shula's is supposed to be great too, but the menu gave us a large case of sticker shock. We have great steakhouses in Chicago, and Shula's prices were much higher.

OH MY GOODNESS!!

Now I have a tag AND an avatar!!!!! Can life get any better than this??

Thanks so much, Debbie!

Hi all, just checking in, after my first day of school! Hard to go back in 98' heat. Many schools in the St. Louis area are dismissing at 10 am each day, if they are not air conditioned. (We have air in all our schools)
Got a late anniversary present from DH when I got home from school. Look what I got:
fb4d5aca.jpg

Just got one, and it had three charms....an I(for Illini, a paw for U of Missouri, where my kids go/went, and a Ram for the St. L. Rams) So cute.....now need some Mickey and Cardinals! How fun. Seems like a reason to go to the S/D!

Welcome brothers! You both deserve to belong! Wives can join too.

OK--I finally sorted through a jillion photos from the trip...so if anyone's interested, here's the link:

http://pak02.pictures.aol.com/NASApp/ygp/Login?event=DirectView&shareInfo=MKfcdXSJqPEyftplBDnR%2f4yRYOpT76vMn9jc8QAn744%3d&pageName=AlbumViewFromEmails

I'm not sure the hyperlink will work, as it's on AOL--you've got pictures, but when I cut and paste the address it seems to work.

I'm ready to go back now. :earsgirl:

If anyone has problems with the avatar, I could not get mine to just paste in at the bottom. So I opened my photo program, pasted in there, cropped and sized and saved as jpeg. Then I was able to 'browse' my pc and find the file. Then it worked like a charm.

DF, glad you made it home safely.

To copy the avatar and post it, you can also right click on it, click on 'properties', then highlight and copy the URL address. Then paste it into the 'edit profile' space on your user page. You can do the same thing with most pictures and clipart, depending on where you find it and what form it is in.

Good morning, Sigma Delta sisters!

DF~ Welcome back to the "real" world. However, planning the next trip and DISing keeps the magic alive! :D

Loubon~ We are honored to have such an esteemed brother from "down the road at the B/Y Club".

ladyjhawk~ We always have a dinner at the Yachtsman Steak House (beats Shula's IMHO). On this last trip we tried Palio's and really liked it. It will be a return visit next summer. Also, we like the Dolphin Fountain for lunch (if we're back from the parks by lunchtime) or for an evening ice cream.

hookedup~ Love your top ten list.

ozzie~ How sweet and thoughtful of your DH.

lonegungirl~ I can't see your pictures. The link numbers are there but not able to click on it.

jmcross~ Congrats on the tag and the avatar! Ahh, yes, indeed, life is complete! How about adding your DIS yearbook pix to your siggie?

ww52~ I, too, love the grounds and landscaping. It is so peaceful and serene as you walk around the property... or am I getting OLD???!!! not seeking hustle and bustle and noise!

;) ;)

Mouseteacher-

Oooooh, I would love that!

How do you do it? I tried to copy and paste with no luck!

Joanne

I posted on the disboards about the candlelight processional and I was told you can pick the tix up at EPCOT or at your resort. I merely asked if you could get the tix at the Swan, since we are staying there for part of our trip...
Someone posted..."You can pick them up at any DISNEY resort."
Don't ask me why but that comment annoyed me...
This will be my second time at the Swan...I am a teacher and the rates at Christmas couldn't be beat! I love the Swan, the location etc...how can people be so rude?

Welcome Home Dreamflight Thanks for your uplifting comments to me and my DD.

Wow you girls have been busy busy busy! I need to add the avator, I see the instuctions you posted on how so I will give it a go in a bit. :D

Loubon: I would like to be added to the Disney yearbook, if you can come up with something :) Welcome to our thread,"honorary brother"

I am longing for days of WDW and to be taken away from the "hustle and bustle" of the everyday routine ....

Its hot here in Texas! The temperature will be going up in the 100's again today, I cannot wait until the crisp cool breeze of fall....ahhhh

Does anyone know when the Christmas decorations come down at WDW? I am thinking of planning our the next trip the week after Christmas and staying until the week after New Years. I know the week following Christmas would be crowded, but the week following New Years hopefully will be slower. Any thoughts?

Happy Tuesday :D

2002disneybride.......yes, some people can be rude. It is true that you cannot pick up your CP ticket at the Swan(at least we couldn't). You have to go to a booth by the American exhibit or guest relations at Epcot to pick them up. Since we were eating at LeCellier and entered at the boat entrance, we just sent ds to pick them up when we got there! (DS is also our expert fast pass fetcher!)
jmcross...see the directions for the avatar? They are the same for the clipart, only put it in the signature space. Be sure to copy the URL address, not just the picture. You have to click on properties to get it.
Have a good day all, I am off to school!
