NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Does the Swan have the retractable clothesline (string) in the bathtub so you can hang wet swimsuits?

Tonight I am getting ready to leave for a couple day business trip. It is the first time since my ds was born that I am going to be away from home. I am kinda nervous. The worst part is that tomorrow is the first day of school for dh and so he is also stressed out too! I feel really bad leaving town on his first day of the school year which is always such a big day for him. This year he has a 2nd & 3rd grade combo (he usually has 3rd or 4th) so he is stressed for this reason too.
DS will be starting pre-school (he has been going 2 days a week over the summer) full time and so I am also worried about that too.
So I maybe absent for a few days (but I am taking my computer with me so if I can sign in to say hi I will).
The good news is I will be staying at a Sheraton so I will be accuring those ever-valuable Starpoints toward my next S/D visit!!

*handing you a box of kleenux* They will survive, and they'll be waiting for you when you get back! Think of those starpoints you'll be racking up for the next family vacation!

Debbie

Try not to focus on the sad stuff if possible! Think about how glad they will be to see you when you get back! (But, then I haven't been anywhere in awhile without my petunias... I am psyching myself up for the next time I go anywhere!) Being absolutely no help here.... MOMPOPPINS, Dreamflight, Mouseteacher, etal ....

CALLING ALL MOMS FOR A GROUP HUG HERE FOR HOOKED UP!

Ok, I don't know how it happened but I missed 10 pages again. We managed to get DS installed in his 4 x 4 foot (just kidding but of course they are small) dorm room in the 95 degree heat. It left me sick as a dog here! He had to go to the 10th floor so we had to wait half an hour for the elevator every time!

Never mind the PM! I didn't get all the pages read, but I did manage to change my avatar! So I AM OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS....how do you get in the yearbook?

jgates, just go over to the Community Board and leave a post to be included in the yearbook. Loubon or Montessori usually does these (or some people include their own!)

I'm about to book a second room at the Swan, but I need some advice on the heavenly beds. This room will be for my parents, and my mom likes her bed hard as a rock to help with back problems. Will the bed be too heavenly?

Thanks for your help!

tinkohio, I just loved the heavenly beds... but they are not as hard as a rock! She may not like them if that is the case! Perhaps a non-renovated Dolphin Room would be better?

Sigma - Delta fans, I have posted a link to the logo voting poll. I only included my own designs, as I think the avatar supplied by hookedup is a keeper! (It looks good.... let's not mess with success here!) ;)

Loubon - thank you for the entry in the DIS yearbook - it looks great.

Mouseteacher - you suggested some type of title for me(like honorary inspirational leader - which in all honesty overstates it greatly; you guys are the leaders).

Anyway - how about "Honorary Brother to Sigma Delta"? I would think Loubon qualifies also with his help on the logo.

it's hot in K-Y, too.....at 7:23PM, eastern time, the temperature is still 90, and the heat index is 99. yikes! it hasn't really been that bad all summer long....our schools have never been called off due to heat, though. luckily we are all air-conditioned :)

if I'm going to be this hot, I'd rather be in FL....

Madge: What part of KY? I'm from Louisville.

First timers!!! Just booked at the Swan Club Level 3-21-04 - 3-26-04. There will be 3 adults & 2 kids (7 & 4). Someone had mentioned to me that I should have just said there were 2 adults instead of 3 to get a cheaper rate. I don't like being deceitful. What do you guys think? I was going to book a Traditional room at first and then maybe see if I could get an upgrade to CL or pay for the upgrade but I was afraid that I couldn't get a room. Did I make the right decision? Now I'm wondering if I should have booked a Jr Suite. I booked on line (trying to earn some SPG points since I have 0) and it didn't give me any prices on a Jr Suite. It also didn't give me a choice to purchase any passes. I'm thinking I want to purchase the UHP. How should I go about purchasing these (cheapest)? How hard is it to get upgraded? Can I make payments on the reservations rather than have it charged on my credit card?

Okay, while lying in bed last night trying not to worry about the next few days I was forcing myself to try to think about other stuff and I was thinking we should work on a "top ten" list for reasons why someone should choose the S/D. I was brainstorming on this last night and came up with few but could use input.
Ten Reasons to Choose the Swan/Dolphin: (not in any particuluar order)
1. Location
2. Heavenly Beds
3. High Speed Internet (free unlimited access)
4. Fabulous Cast Members
5. Great food & beverage service
6. Excellent room rates & awesome specials
7. Wonderful Pools & kids play area
8. Newly rennovated rooms
9.
10.

...well you get the idea

I was thinking that so many people post questions on the board about being scared to book S/D as they think it's not Disney-enough or to choose between a moderate and the S/D. I thought a good solid list of reasons was something Sigma Delta could offer to those folks.

Any ideas/changes/other thoughts are welcome!

Wow, it's hard to keep up with this sorority, even while lurking. ;)

I want to join too.

dorisdvu- I learned a very valuable lesson in being truthful regardless of whether or not it'll cost more money. DH and I rented a van a few years ago and wanted unlimited mileage which was only offered in the home state (TX) and surrounding states. We were going to South Carolina but the mileage could equal driving around in TX (BIG state) for a week so we opted to be silent (omission rather than commission) when the part about the driving area came up. Well to make a long story short, we almost had an accident and did end up going off the road. By God's grace neither we nor the van were damaged. Of course we would not have been covered for that damage because we lied. For me it was like looking through the fire into the pit of hell and making a decision- it's never worth it. Can you say - Scared Straight? So you were right to say how many are in the room, it could matter in case of an evacuation (God forbid!) or other situation.

The experts here can help you with the other questions, but when I reserved the Dolphin (by calling directly), I paid a deposit of one day's stay(credit card) with the balance due upon check in. At that time, I was told, you can pay with whatever you prefer.

***** and hugs for all moms (and dads) who had to see the backs of their children's heads as they walked into a classroom or school bus and wanted to take them back out, but resisted bravely (unlike DH who hung around DD8 classroom door until she waved him off-I had left him there-it was a new larger school, to his defense- DD said, Mom how embarrassing). I pray God's protection over them all.

Mom Poppins- You're my new hero- you're killing them with kindness, instead of just killing them. ;)

*wave to the room* Hi everyone! Wow! Lots have been going on since I signed off last night. It is really busy at school so this is the earliest i could log on and I needed to catch up.

Disbug - I voted on the meet poll. Now I'll do the logo poll.

Yes, ww52, we need a title for Loubon and his help with our yearbook siggies. What suggestions, sisters?
