NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Great minds! I had a question about the availablilty of bottled water at the Dolphin. We usually bring some to take to the parks each day but if staying at the CL at the Dolphin, is this necessary?

And, with everyone being charged the wonderful Resort Fee now, do they put bottled water in the rooms (along with the coffee, newspaper, etc.).

Any and all information/advice is GREATLY appreciated!

happytrails2u Have a wonderful time at NH - such a pretty area. The weather looks like it will be perfect for the wedding.
Thanks Mousteacher. My sister's wedding went off without a hitch and it was a perfect day, albeit a steamy one. But in following suit with the N. E. credo (after the spring we've had), no complaints. :)

DF - your trip sounds wonderful so far. I've had brunch at the Peabody in Memphis. My then 2 year old was very impressed with the ducks :D (me too)

Although I would love the PBH, my two teenagers are into Classic Rock so maybe next April we will stay a few nights at the HRH. Even my 6 year old thought it would be neat to hear music under the water. That will be after our Vero trip though..........

Speaking of Vero, my older son was the first person to catch a bass in the pond using bacon as bait during our March 2002 trip. (our big Disney claim to fame!) We brought the picture of the "catch" back with us in April. Maybe it's hanging up at Eb and Flo's!

On our most recent trip, we stayed in bldg/villa 14. The trip before was in the Beach cottage. I can't remember the number but if you are facing the ocean at the pool, it is the 2nd one on the right. I love it there.

And to those going to the World soon...........have a great time! I was one click away last week from booking SWA flights for 5 days at the end of aug/beginning of Sept. I chickened out at the last minute. My younger son and I have AP's that will expire in September and wouldn't it be a shame if we didn't use them one more time! There are such good deals out there with hotels, etc. And, even the older kids said they would be happy just to go to the water parks, Disney Quest and sleep in and hang out at the pool. If SWA comes out with another 15% off promotion or something better, I won't hesitate again. Reading all of the posts just makes the yearning stronger ;)

Yes it is true at the Swan there are only small 1/2 pint bottles of water and you have to ask for them. Also the bottle in the room cost 5.00 if you open it!! The CL lounge is open 7-10:30 and 5-7 or 8 depending. I don't know about the Dolphin, haven't stayed there yet!

..."got the string around my finger, what a world, what a life...LOL. Louis Armstrong did a great version of this one. Also used in a current television commercial too (MB). Glad the trip is going well so far. Are you able to post any pics of your travels? What's next on the itinerary? KW, Disney Cruise?

Have fun!

disfan- Are you referring to the Perrier on the entertainment center? ($5) per bottle

mouseteacher- I believe we will be departing on your arrival day.
It would have been lovely to meet you.

Hi Everyone,

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere in this forum ... but is there a rental car desk at the Swan? If so, which company is it?

Thanks!

 Hi, everyone - I just got back from jury duty - didn't get on a panel so I wa dismissed by 11:30. I've been catching up on last night and this morning's posts.

DF ~ Good thing I didn't read your post last night or I would have been knocking on your villa door asking - Is "suppa" ready? LOL. I forgot about your stay at the CR. I remember some of our posts about how much we both like this resort. It is a sentimental fav of mine. I have stayed there the most of all my resort stays. I will enjoy reading your posts from Walt's original resort.

Rav~ Too bad about just missing each other.

happytrails~ I am so glad all went well at the wedding - and absolutely no complaining about our weather!

Re: S/D CL We stayed on CL at the Dolphin and the room was open only for breakfast and then again in the afternoon (as previously posted). We were there late August so the room was never crowded but I imagine during busy times the room must be impossible to get in -the room is small. It was convenient for us in the morning but since we had PS for 5:30 each night we didn't use it in the afternoon. We did receive CL as a comp upgrade. I wouldn't pay for it knowing we would not use it in the afternoons.

5.25 when your daughter drinks it! We didn't have the holder/sign on our bottle. DD drank it on our second day and the bill arrived the following morning from room service and a new bottle, properly labeled was put in its place. That was my only, absolutely only, disappointment in the Swan. She would not have drank that bottle had she seen the label/price listed on it. On a weird note, we ended up with three evian bottles in our room the following day. When room service came and asked about the "three" instead of one bottle, I explained that while I had no idea why three were in there, this is what happened with #1 and how it happened due to the neck label not being there. She took it (the original evian charge) off our tab immediately.

The house is very quiet here!

That thread is one of the first on the Resorts board - it's a locked thread that they keep on the top.

Wow...what a FAB night we shared. :) After SUPPA, we made homemade strawberry shakes with Breyer's IC & Fresh Calif. strawberries! Then, we hopped in the truck and took a scenic drive around VERO. We returned and took a late eve dip in the pool, and did shared in some summer reading. We finally turned-in @ 2am!

We all awoke at 10am, and enjoyed some fresh bacon, egg, & cheese on fresh croissants. I added some fresh home-cooked potatoes (w/fresh peppers and onions), and some expresso~for a REAL eye-opener!

We went to the pool, and then to the beach. A green turtle was attempting to "beach" itself...maybe due to old age/illness. A rescue team was called in to locate the little fella. :)

We played BINGO...and we all won! LOL.

*Just wanted to add some info on the bottled water query:
1. As a FEATURE of the RESORT FEE, eveyone is entitled to use the health club facility. There, you may partake of the fresh fruit, as well as the bottled water dispensers. You may bring you empty bottles and refill them with the Zephyrillis water in the back room. This way, you are able to fill a liter bottle or larger with the icy cool spring water. In the parks, bottled water is $2.50 or more. This is great for everyone. Therefore, those not on CL can still obtain fresh fruit and water! Makes the $10 per day a veritable bargain.

P.S. Happytrails...I've been singing that one since we left the PBH, and the "girl from ipanema"...LOL! :p

TTFN....

OMG DF, first an incredible dinner and then that full breakfast the next morning - probably the only time i really don't cook is when we are on vacation!! :)

Sounds like you're havng a wonderful time there - glad you're all in the "magic!"

#1 Hockey mom - we have 5 daughters, no son, but i can remember the withdrawal the summer all 5 went to Girl Scout camp- imagine dropping 5 of them off. Do not go near his bedroom for the few day or so- it does get easier though. Now that they are grown and the last few in college, we have the "almost" empty nest syndrome. That can be great and bring back memories at the same time.

Mouseteacher - my daughter has jury duty in the morning- hoping for the same luck you had. The Intensive Summer Reading program is going well - small class sizes and i get to coach teachers on the program i put together. A nice feeling- some direct hands on with the kids, but more with their teachers and what a nice group we have too. Your countdown is drawing near too.

MomPoppins- how are Kirk and the family doing?

Enjoy your week everyone. Caroline

Another one of me and DH on the day we are bringing Jr. home!

DF: Enjoy reading your post, Glad you are having a Great time!

AAWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEE....................CUTE!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs to baby Kirk!!!! (and the rest!).

Re: Club Level water. Did this change in the last 10 months or so? We received 16 or 20 ounce bottles of water each day from there. (Swan). It wouldn't be a big deal to refill at Health Club, but just verifying if this was a change.

I know our big bottle in our room had a sign on it and I told both kids if they valued their lives they wouldn't touch it!

MomPoppins~ How sweet! Thanks for sharing your beautiful family.

Caroline~ Your program sounds wonderful and I'm glad you're receiving such satisfaction from it. We will be experiencing our first "almost" empty nest syndrome this fall when oldest DS will dorm for his last 2 years of college. Youngest DS will be right on his heels as he will be a senior in high school. I am enjoying these lazy days of vacation and filling them with absolutely NO school work. Every once and a while I am tempted to go to the office but I reign myself in. These are important days for me to recharge. I will be having an unusually busy year coming up with many professional obligations on my plate that are beyond my "regular" work. And, yes, I love seeing my countdown clock go down.

Last eve...we all dined in Sonya's! Excellent Seafood, and some of the BEST Prime in Florida.

Caroline~so glad to read your post. This is the ONLY time I'm able to cook on this sojourn...so it's something I relish. It's "special" and almost "relaxing"...as it's NOT the usual BALL & CHAIN monotony-feel of the kitchen at home. It's no trouble cleaning, as again...it's "different" from the "home" environment. Does this make any sense? LOL.

MOM POPPINS~How "PRECIOUS" is that little boy?? OH.....he's so HANDSOME!! Thanks for posting...your family is beautiful! :)

Mouseteacher~not much longer...and you are HERE!

jgates...this is what I recall about the water in CL, as well. I'll let you know as soon as I arrive!!

We're off to "HALE" for a fresh-FLA fruit-juice sample and a look-see. (LOL).

He's such a cutie! He will be so well watched with all his sisters looking in on him all the time! Thank you for sharing your family pictures!

Only water in the room was a big bottle of Evian. Ours didn't have a label, but I'd already made a half-way threat not to touch it. As it stayed around the next day obviously someone forgot my warning and a bill showed up the next morning. I didn't come unglued, as even I was wondering about the bottle since it was on the counter/desk area next to the tv with no information near it. The bill had a new bottle with the neck label hanging from it, with pricing information. As I said previously, it was taken care of when we suddenly ended up with three bottles one day! We were on a different floor than CL, but we did receive turndown service every night per the CL perks. Wrong floor could have changed our "water" status. The little bottles of water and the pop were fine and we were always offered more than one to take back to the room.

The house is SOOOO quiet! I thought I wanted this! I am not so sure anymore! DD called us last night, he was homesick. I thought he'd be fine since he's always been fine staying anywhere. I think new routine/skills/ only knows one person there is not doing well with his usual "needs to know the routine/rules" personality. Get this, he was upset with the amount of swearing in the locker room! He's definately NOT a momma's boy, but I was so proud that he didn't like that environment. I must be doing something right! I am sure he'll be fine by the end of the day, today.

DD will be doing fine, as she is with the almost the same group of girls she's been with since middle school. She's only gone three nights. Someone start downloading mp3s and playing music real loud in the computer room at the desk behind me and maybe life will seem normal again! :)

School work>> I keep on having dreams/nightmares about it[workload]. Can't log into my excel program, not enough desks (this is normal though), 53 kids in my classroom. All the sending lists are wrong. I need to relax more and stop worrying! I guess this means that I must have a job at the end of vacation, or I wouldn't be dreaming about it, right?

Have a wonderful day everyone!
Debbie

Baby kirk is such a cutie!!!! So glad all is well with your family and your still planning a disney vacation for the 7 of you.

Re club level water the bottles are down sized now, they are about 4 or 6 oz bottles and were not readily available in the mornings. You had to ask for them. They are out during the evening hours along with cans of soda.

hockeymom my oldest 13yo is also away. He left for wrestling camp sunday and i've had no word from him. I'm hoping all is well as he just is recovering from a fractured and dislocated arm. Ortho gave him clearance to go so hope nothing happens.
