NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Mompoppins, Thanks for posting the picture of your family! Kirk Jr. is a cutie and the girls are beautiful! Enjoy them!

DF, your vacation sounds GREAT! Keep posting your updates! We love hearing from you! Will you be at the Contempory next week?

We had full size 16 oz bottles of water at the Dolphin CL in Jan. I hope the Dolphin didn't switch to small bottles too? My 13 y/o DD is at tennis day camp this week. Next week she has 4H camp and we will miss her! She does love 4H camp so I won't worry (much) ;)

Mouseteacher, I hope you are getting excited! You don't have long to go and then you will be in the magic! I hope you have a very special time at the Swan....

Ozzie, please post and let us know you made it to FL ok!

Muffy

Hi,

I posted a while ago about our reservation for an Exec. suite on CL. I was concerned since it seemed their actually wasn't any Exec. suites on CL, only the Governor's/Presidential which unfortunately we do NOT get. So..I finally couldn't stand not knowing any longer. I got an extremely patient individual who explained we were actually reserved on another floor with CL priv. I said "Oh, then it might be possible to get a balcony?" to which she said that it's possible, so I had her add my request in the notes.

Truly, this is what I had wanted from the beginning when I made the reservation but I didn't want to complicate the whole procedure and it really wasn't a do or die situation for us.:D .

So, they are now mind readers at the Swan for anticipating my desire for CL...AND a possible balcony.

Hey Mom Poppins...any chance our visits in March 2004 will overlap? We are staying 3/15-17 (and maybe on the 18th, but not sure yet). We arrive in Orlando on March 11 or 12th but will be staying out at the Race Track for a race that weekend, unless I can work some kind of miracle with DH. It would be neat if we were there at the same time!

GETTING EXCITED? WHO ME? :bounce:

Thanks, Muffy and DF, for the exciting reminder about my countdown clock. I play a game with myself - try not to look at the remaining time every time I log on. Then when I do check, the time seems to dwindle down faster... or so I think! ;) Soon I will be doing the single digit dance.

Things I have done so far:
-taken out all my shorts and T-shirts for laundering and ironing
-bought my lime green ribbon (it's really apple green - close enough)
-bought a throw away Kodak camera that gives you a digital CD
-organized all my confirmation information and numbers on index cards along with all my travel documents
-bought a new bathing suit
-e mailed my request to the Swan (will call 5 days ahead to check)

MomPoppins- what a beautiful family you have- how blessed you and your husband are! I am sure that's the way my parents must have felt 46 yrs ago when my brother arrived after 5 daughters.

Mouseteacher - i can imagine the demands being an administrator has on you- my best friend is an AP in Springfield, and her days can be quite chaotic. I will never long for an administrative post, I have enough work as a teacher!!! Don't we all? ;)

#1Hockeymom - you'll have that job - teachers have that inner sense about things - now make those dreams go away and relax for a while. Besides, the quiet will not last much longer!!

DF - the "being away and doing some work" does make sense. We have a timeshare in Orlando for Feb vacation, and every year we do end up cooking some of our meals - saves money too!

Take care all- have a great Wednesday. Caroline

Hi all! I have only read the last few posts but I wanted to let you know the water bottles on club level at the Dolphin have also been downsized...they are tiny:( ...

ozzie~ I hope you have arrived safely. I'm anxious to read some posts from inside the magic.

DF ~ Are still at Vero?

If you had to request a room at the Dolphin, which area/room would you request?

Would you request a recently remodeled room over a room with a view of Epcot or MGM.

Hi folks... Just wondering if anyone has stayed in a renovated Dolphin room yet... I am down to the wire on deciding S vs. D for a September trip, and DBF has stated he only wishes to stay in a renovated room... I am trying to assess my chances of getting a requested renovated room in mid-September, and taking advantage of slightly better rates and discounts at Dolphin... If it looks too iffy, I shall go with the Swan.

Thanks in advance for any reports.

Hi everyone.... I have a quick question. I booked one jr exec. suite at the dolphin. My confirmations says "Jr Suite Parlor Double Sico" under accomodations and under number of rooms it has "2".
Is this normal or should be worried that something is wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.

judirain, that sounds like a Jr. Suite. Not sure why they are calling it an Jr. Executive Suite though? We have a Jr. suite booked for 16 nights in Dec/Jan. We also had a Jr. Suite at the Dolphin this past Dec/Jan. The pulldown sico bed is a king size bed. There is also a sofa bed in that room and a king bed in the other room. The Jr. suite can easily sleep 6 people. There are 2 bathrooms and 2 TV in a Jr. Suite. DF will be checking into an executive suite at the Dolphin soon and can tell you more. She is in FL now. Did you want an executive suite or a Jr. Suite? If it is just you and your DBF maybe a corner king with the double balconies would be something you would enjoy. My DS and his GF booked one in May and really enjoyed the double balcony. The suites at the Dolphin don't have balconies. Hope this helps!

Thanks Muffy. Wheww I feel better now. I guess I got myself all worried for nothing. I wanted a jr suite w.e need the larger room There will be at least 5 maybe 6 of us, one of my DS's might not make it, and of course there is DH and me.

I really enjoyed reading about DF's Portfino and Vero stays and can't wait to hear about the Dolphin.

What is the difference between and Junior and an Executive Suite?

http://www.swandolphinmeetings.com/meetings/s_suites.htm
here are the floor plans for the different suites at the Swan and Dolphin. They hid them on their website under "meetings". I guess a meeting with the Mouse is included, right? :)

Looking at the site, I can see why Judirain's reservations read the way they did. Looks like she has the equivalent of two rooms!

Ozzie must have taken too many turns at the Waffle Houses in GA.. where are you Ozzie? DF must be having way too much fun! Is she between resorts right now? Mouseteacher is just about to take off for her vacation, too! Looking forward to everyone's posts from the world!

Debbie

if you had to choose between a newly renovated standard room at the Dolphin and a Junior Suite that has not been renovated, which would you select? I'm afraid we may have to make this decision in the future and would appreciate some expert opinions!

Thanks much!

Just checking in and to see my counter! We leave 2 weeks from today. SWA flight leaves at 9:00 am. We should be checking in by 1:00. I wish I could post from "in the magic" but our only laptop is my DS and there is no way he will give it up! I believe it is permanently a part of his arm. :p

I plan on calling the Swan next Thursday to see if I can get any detail on our room and if my request for an upgrade has been granted - DH would like a balcony. Send me some PD!

Debbie ~ I believe you are right about ozzie... I hope that wrong turn eventually got her to WDW. Perhaps her computer is not working.

#1hockymom... Thanks for the link. I never would have come across it myself. I usually skip all the "business links". I was very disappointed when I went to their room section and didn't see any floorplans for the suites.

are the Junior suites on at the Dolphin? All or specific floors?

mouseteacher>> Have you tried bribing for that laptop? :)

Kapp>> While I haven't stayed in one of their suites, I know that a room w/o a heavenly bed just wouldn't be the same! Why not stay at the Swan and be guaranteed both?

Judirain>>I spent hours searching for floor plans and came up empty handed, only to run into a post minutes later on a different site about a different subject where someone directed them to the floor plans. I wish the site was set up a bit better, but if they keep the prices down but have hidden pages, c'est la vie!

Tomorrow is the long drive to pick up hockey kid. He called us the very next night, bubbling over with all the stuff he'd done, friends he'd met, and how great the cafeteria food was. I am glad my thoughts that this (his homesickness the first day) would end as soon as he felt comfortable, were true!

Debbie

PS to Muffy>> I dont know if I mentioned it before, but when we were in Ice Station cool all I could think of was your saying under your name! I have to say that is one of the most underutilized areas of Epcot. We were about to grab a pop to share, but ended up walking/wandering in that direction. The kids had gone in right before us and met us at the exit with DS saying that he only had one taste, could we buy a pop, because DD said it was one try per "customer". (this is why I knew they'd be fine in the concierge lounge!!) We sent him back in with us, so he could have one per country, including Beverly! Its nice to be able to say "yes" once in awhile! A few tastes and we didn't need a pop till we hit the world showcase! btw...We declared Israel the winner!

I also would like to know more about the Dolphin Jr. Suites!
Have any been renovated? Do they all have good views?
How much extra would it cost to get CL perks if you got the Jr.Suite at the entertainment rate?
Thanks All!!!!:)
