NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Where is DAD POPPINS or GRANDMA POPPINS, anyone with a keyboard and news! Did she mention anything in any of her posts about how/when we'd know she was o.k.? I've read her posts for such a long time now. I'll miss a week or two now and then (I never heard the baby Kirk details during the crisis) but you know just reading bits and pieces of people lives for ages you do REALLY begin to care about them and they seem real. Well we are all real but you know what I mean, like the people at church, school, next door. Anyway, I hope they wheel her in a keyboard soon!

simon ~ I agree. We are real and we certainly have come to care very much about Robin and baby Kirk. We are anxiously awaiting her news.

Debbie ~ 9 days for you - wish it were me, too. We have about a month to go.

BABY KIRK....WHERE ARE YOU? MOMPOPPINS...WE NEED A SIGN FROM TEXAS!

BooHoo....we had to cancel our trip to WDW and Key West....at least for now. Long story, but waiting for calls for job interviews that looked positive seemed more important. Of course, if dd doesn't get her job, we will have the time to go to FLA later in the summer. (but that would be bad news!) This job hunting has been going on way too long.... and after how many thousands of dollars to the U. of Missouri? Just hope the economy changes soon.

Welcome to the new Diser's! You will enjoy this thread and feel very comfortable here too.

Deb....your PS list looks great to me. We always go the Calif. Grill and Brown Derby.....went to LeCellier in Dec. and loved it. And we will make BOMA a must do from now on! We are leaving out the castle next time....too many menu changes and our favs are gone. Also, so sorry about your pink slip. We had some teachers and assistants get those this year too and it is not easy. Some get hired back when they know class sizes, etc. I missed where you worked....not 8 mile is it? or 6 or 7? I admire all the teachers in those buildings....takes some special teachers, of which you must be one!

mouseteacher......how does it feel? Kids are out....only admin. duties left! I slept much better after the last day! May was so hectic. I was really ready to go Disney. Too bad your boys didn't get to see the Sox and the Cards! Quite a game last night....they drive me crazy! Cards play Yankees tonight and Clemons tries for 300 again!
Noma killed us!

Which restaurant has the buffet? Is it at swan or dolphin - was trying to look at the menu. Last year we ate a cape may buffet at BC was very good. We have the food credits for swan/dolpin so I wanted to get infor on meals.

Does anyone know what floor or floors the CL is on at the Swan?
Are there any standard rooms in those floors?

Not sure about the buffet, but there are standard rooms on Club Level at the Swan, floors 11 and 12. (top two floors)

thank you - if I request those floors do you think I have any chance of getting CL upgrade?

/
CL or Royal Beach Club is on floors 11 and 12. The actual RBC lounge is on 12. I don't know what room categorys are on those floors. Someone here stayed in a jr. suite on the end I think I read. No balconies so maybe there are standard rooms on those floors as well as resort views? I'm thinking more resort view from my memory of the layout of that area of the hotel but maybe a standard or two. Someone here will know.

Coral Cafe at the Dolphin used to have a wonderful buffet. It was a themed buffet that changed for which night of the week it was, ie Thursday - Italian, etc. There have been so many changes at the Coral Cafe that I can't seem to keep up. I don't even think they serve dinner now, just BL??? Be sure to try Palio, it's wonderful!

Prayers for Mom and Baby. Hope all is well. They are sure on my mind.

luvdisney........I don't think they will put you on those floors unless you reserve CL and pay for it. Even though they are standard rooms, they are higher because of CL. There is one jr. suite on floor 12 in the corner; there are some big suites in the center(back of hotel) and the rest are standard CL rooms.
If you reserve a standard room you can get CL by using points, paying for it or complimentary if you are lucky, when they are available during your stay. You may even stay on another floor and acquire CL. Hope this helps.

Hi Gang,
We are booked at the Dolphin with the teacher rate ($129) for our upcoming trip.
Now - with the Swan Recipe Club offer I could book a room for $139 per night (that's actually cheaper than the Swan teacher rate!) plus a $50 food and beverage credit. I am sure we would spend $50 on property on food so in essence this is a $50 discount on the bill - that would make both properties a similar price for us.
I am tempted by this deal. Any thoughts here?

You do not need to be on the 11th or 12th floor to have Royal Club access. They can give you privileges even if you stay on another floor. The character buffet is at the Swan, Gulliver's. I believe they have dinners there most nights. (Pluto and Goofy).

OKAY...this one should be our THEMED PICTURE (sort of a virtual THREAD MASCOT!). Thanks for the DAY-BRIGHTENER! This is the BEST one I've seen. ;)

Mouseteacher...you and I are CUT FROM THE SAME CLOTH! (LOL). DD knows the car will come with a tremedous amount of responsibility. Registration fees (annual), insurance and gas, oil, etc. She is eager to "pull her weight" and help-out with finances. She will be "expected" to keep the car clean too. Also, her grades will directly affect her insurance. So...she will maintain her "A" average, and $ave herself a LOT of $$$. :)

*So happy to hear your two DS's are well-adjusted and good friends. It certainly is heart-warming when siblings get along, and share each other's company. Nothing seems to make my DM happier, then when us children visit one another. ;)

Debbie... Well...LEFT wing first, until I was educated about GORDIE HOWE...then I wanted to be a RIGHT wing player! I switched to GOALIE out of necessity, and decorated my own mask. I would always warm up on the ice like the pros...(splits and all! LOL). Of course, I only played with ONE other girl...all the rest were BOYS. :p

*you'll LOVE the CALI GRILL. ;)

*I received BOTH of my Rachmaninoff Music boxes from my DH, as well. :smooth:

*I'll be out of here in less than 2 weeks. Yet, we are not at the Dolphin until mid-JULY! We are at the PBH, then DISNEY's VERO BEACH...then...etc. :p

OZZIE! Thanks for the kind words on the pics! ;) I'm going to ADD BOMA to our list of must-do restaurants. So sorry about your cancellation. I finally MADE ressies for KEY WEST today. Three eves in the midst of the Dolphin Stay...In August. :)

luvdisney14 Coral Cafe no longer serves dinner. The buffet is in gulliver's in the Swan, and is FAB! Fridays are the SEAFOOD spread, with SNOW CRAB and SHRIMP. The AMERICAN night hosts the PRIME RIB ROAST. All are delicious. ;)

hookedup Boy...I'd take the postcard if the deal works out better for you. It looks so great...I'm TEMPTED myself! ;)

BABY KIRK...MOM POPPINS...we are ALL AWAITING NEWS to HEAR OF YOUR ARRIVAL! :)

ozzie ~ sad news about your cancellation. But, your DD future, of course, is a priority. Sending positive thoughts and PD that the job hunting turns up something.

DF ~ YES - that pix by ozzie DEFINITELY should be our mascot - it is beautiful and serene.

PS are set - Cali Grille (of course), Yachtsman Steakhouse, Le Cellier, Shula's. DH says looks like we are hooked on steak for dinner. These just happen to be our favs with a newbie - Le Cellier. We do like Chefs de France hope to go for a light lunch - escargots!

This trip, albeit a short one (hey, I'll take Disney any way I can - short, long and anything in between) so our plan is to REALLY stop and smell the roses! We will do things slow and leisurely. Since we have many, many trips under our belt, there is no urgency to go on attractions if lines are long. I want to stroll and sit and soak in the atmosphere (sights and sounds) of Disney.

DSs went to the Sox game in the RAIN - such diehard fans! DS#2 LOVES Nomah (Nomar hehe) and Pedro. They are our desktop background...a compromise since I got to choose the screensaver - a Disney theme, of course.

Just posted under the Swan postcard thread, but you people know EVERYTHING, so I'm asking here also.

If you've booked a dream maker package through a TA, can you switch your rates to the postcard deal that's happening while you are there? We're booked for the Swan, leaving in 11 days ~

:p

(I so wish I had found this group of informed WDW goers before I used a TA!)

Thanks for any advice.

hookupmom

I had the same rate at dolphin and switched to postcard at swan. I wanted originally to stay at swan but dolphin was cheaper. I always want to get the best deal, so far I think this is it.

yes, mouseteacher, I knew that........NOMARRRR!! Sorry about that (I hate it when teachers make grammatical errors!)

DF.....That beautiful pic of the S/D was one of the postcards I got for great rates there! I am hoping to use the recipe rate later in the summer....as soon as I can make ressies. You will love Boma....I hear Jiko is very good too....think we may try that next time.

I am thinking we may hear from mompoppins this weekend? Baby may be in ICU for a bit, since he was small, so she may be a bit busy. You think? he he....with four other siblings! Robin and I pmd quite a bit last summer.....but I don't think she got a 'designated Diser' to post for her. I should have told her to do that!

Summer just refuses to come to Boston - another dreary, cloudy, foggy, showery day. So, I'm doing an equally dreary task - cleaning the house! Can't wait for FLA and Swan sunshine.

ozzie - Nomah is Bostonian for Nomar :) spell it the way we speak it?!! LOL

I would appreciate any info on the difference between Club Level and concierge?? We have ressies at the swan with the recipe card discount. I am considering upgrading to the club level or concierge. Please tell me which is better, cost more and the difference!! Last but not least would love to know what room or floor to request for best view!! Thanks...:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
