NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

I wish you were coming Madge! Maybe you'll be there next year!:D

I promise I'll let you know how it is. I am not the "rah-rah" type so I will probably miss out on some of the activities but I hope to learn a lot of new scrapbooking ideas and techniques ... and sneak out and enjoy the parks and Disney restaurants!:D I don't want to miss the EPCOT Flower and Garden show.

Talk to you when I get back!

mompoppins.....guess I got ahead of myself, thinking Kirk was due this week. Prayers and thoughts are still with you; I am sure all will be fine, after all, you have done this FOUR times already! Keep us posted.

Kelli...have a MAGICAL trip and post upon return.

Mouseteacher, DF, disbug.....thanks for the kind words, but I really just enjoy it.....no techie here! And I love the pictures!

ww52.....I think there are no balconys on CL, but I also think I know what you are talking about. Whenever I went down to the CL from our room on the 12th floor I would peek into the rooms facing the dolphin(which would be in the center black part). I couldn't see a balcony, but they were the BIG executive? parlour? suites. They had sofas, a large dining table and a grand piano! So, I am not much help...sorry!

debbie.....wow...what an upgrade!

scoob.......I think you will be happy with either...CL or view. I thought I always wanted the view, but this time I wanted to try CL and the view described sounded fine. I am glad I stayed on CL.....it was incredible being up so high and very handy to get to the CL lounge. Didn't really miss the balcony. Sometimes, it depends on how much time you are in your room, how many are in the room, how much walking it would take to get to the CL, etc. Good luck in your decision.

Ozzie ~ you are still our picture posting hero! I would still be picture challenged if it weren't for your assistance. Your self proclaimed limited technie knowledge was more than my NO technie knowledge.

I have booked the Swan with cash and points which I am sure is a standard room with limited view. I will be perfectly satisfied with this since this is a totally unexpected trip due to the cash and points promotion. However, as a gold level spg, I know that some type of upgrade will be considered. I wonder what the standard upgrade is - CL or view or balcony? Does anyone have thoughts on this? I know DH would like a balcony and I would like CL. We have reserved a King room.

DITTO!:p I would NEVER be able to post a picture w/o the assistance of the "humble/modest" master herself:

"OZZIE"! (The Great Wizardress of OZ-DIS). ;) Thanks again, Ozzie...for all your wonderful assistance and infinite Patience.

Kelli...sorry to read your DD has to sleep on the floor. Hope she was comfy, etc. Okay, what is CKU? (See?...I'm in the DARK about most of these things! LOL). I would like to be jealous too...but I have NOT begun the Scrapbooking thing~YET. I have bought some of the stuff...etc. BUT, have not taken the plunge. I've organized items and photos too. Please, be sure to post details, etc. Thanks! :)

Debbie...Sounds HEAVENLY! Ohhh....are you able to post some pics for us? So glad the kids enjoyed it...and it was a luxurious stay (even without CL). ;)

Mom Poppins...I'm sure all is FINE, and Baby Kirk will be here in no time (healthy and Happy). ;) Just keep doing the things you have been doing (as they're working), and let us know what happens with the Amnio (Especially if they induce~!). Hang in there...not much longer! :smooth:

mousteacher...the standard upgrade is usually preferred view/balcony. The CL is aother level of upgrade, but certainly not out of reach for a complimentary perk. Makle sure to fill out the form, and nicely request both upgrades. Since a Balcony is not possible ON CL, you may simply request a preferred view King on CL. I'm like you...in the summer, at the height of the West Nile Virus problem with Mosquitoes...I'd take the CL over the Balcony any Day! *BTW...the best deterrent is the "OFF DEEP WOODS SPORTSMAN" spray. Recently tested, it deterred the pests for 13 hours! I'll be "bathing" in this stuff...LOL. :p

Mom Poppins,

I'm thinking good thoughts for you and Kirk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ozziewags -
I suspect you are right; that they are suites. When they say there are no balconies on club level, I guess they mean no regular room balconies (though I did ask a reservationist if any of the suites on CL had balconies; I think she may have been relatively new there becuase she didn't know what floor the club level lounge was on.)

We'll be there in late July - early August. I'll be sure to get the answer on what the "dark section of the Swan" is.

Did i read that you can use your Disney Club card at Tubbi's and get 20% off your total bill ? is that right ? Thanks Michelle

( I am doing the single digit dance even though my counter say 12 or 13 days - we are really leaving on 6/12 but have some other stops along the way )

ozzie your the best, a great mentor to all of us technology challenged people!!
Baby kirk keep up the good work, can't wait to see pictures!
Mouseteacher, a balcony may be hot in the summer but CL may not be offered as an option. I'd hope or ask for a great view of all the action

Yes, we have used out DC card for discounts both at Tubbis and the Fountain. Unfortunately, our card expired in May, so I will really feel deprived having to pay the full amount.

Mouseteacher - We always book a standard room and hope for some upgrades with our gold card. One time we lucked out and got a club level, another a nice balcony room overlooking the fountain. Last New Year's we received no upgrade because the hotel was full. So it must be the "luck of the draw". Good Luck!!

FYI ... since your Disney Club just expired, you can renew it at a prorated rate. (They will not take any new memberships). Just thought I would mention it in case you want to get any discounts on Tubbi's, etc.:D I use it at DD and I used it to purchase AP's so it was well worth it to me!

Kelli:D

OK - last post on this topic; maybe I'm getting a little too nuts about this, but I just want to be sure I've looked at all the options. (It's our anniversary this trip and the hotel room is especially important to my wife since she's not as big a fan of the parks as our children and me.)

Anyway, there are in fact rooms on the CL floors with balconies - but in fact they are suites. Not just any suites apparently, but as someone pointed out they much larger - they have two bedrooms, three baths, full kitchen, dinning room, and the grand piano that was mentioned. They have names like Presidential and Japanese and so on. They are on the side facing Crescent Lake and the Dolphin. On the other side in the middle there are no balconies, but I would guess those rooms are suites as well, since the windows are wider than the other rooms.

Thanks for putting up with my beating a dead horse on this issue.

Thanks for all your kind responses to my upgrade question. Last summer (late August) we did get CL comp upgrade but it was a slow time of the year. I agree that it is the luck of the draw. I will be fine with our standard room as I said before b/c I am just so happy to have this unexpected visit! And... it is just a few days shy of our anniversary.

However, i will give it the "ole college try"!

DF ~ I have never experienced a problem with bug/mosquito bites before and hopefully won't this year. However, I'll pack the Deep Woods Off just in case. Thanks :)

Mouseteacher ~ I never had any trouble w/these pests as a child/teen in the EAST...but since migrating to Cali, my blood has "thinned" to a tasty consistency (apparently)...and these gals find me irresistible (LOL). :p

I "KNOW" you will have a wonderful time at the Dolphin, as you expect nothing more than what you reserve. You are cut from the "HAPPY" Cloth...and will be HAPPY in spite of anything/everything. I know...I'm cut from this material as well. ;)
So...when I receive an upgrade, I'm BEYOND tickled. I'm TICKLED PINK!

DD is taking her Honors Geometry Final today, and then she's OUT of SCHOOL for the SUMMA! (That's the King's English for SUMMER!). :)

Bimmy...I would do exactly as Kelli suggested, and renew the card for the prorated amount. The $$ it will save, will more than pay for the remaining membership fee you are charged. We $AVE a small fortune with the DC card (in the Restaurants and w/other features). :)

DF ~ Ahem...

Thanks , I will be sure to show my card and get the discounts.. Michelle

LOL!! :p Being the daughter of a TRUE DYED-IN THE WOOL YANKEE BOSTONIAN...I'd have to AGREE! Just "YesTAday, she reminded me of how she changed her POCKETBOOK from Black to WHITE afTA the last Holiday (MEM DAY). :p :p :p She still boils franks on Fridays, Eats Beans and Bakes the Brown Bread w/raisens in the CAN! She also drinks from a BUBBLER (pronounced BUBB-LA), and loves a good FRAPPE & GRINDER while relaxing in her DUNGS! ROTFL...She places her sentimental items atop her BUREAU...and her and my DF kick-back togeth-A on the DAVENPORT! Her accent has NEV-A betrayed her, as she still calls me...."LIS-ER"! :p ;) Enjoy the weekend. Remember...I'm ONE OF YOU, TOO. I was born and raised in MEDFORD/MALDEN...and THE EAST (Until College brought me WEST).

bigsis...glad to read you're taking advantage of the discounts (which, BTW, render a large Pepperoni Pie @ Tubbi's to about $8.00 total). ENJOY!

Kelli - Thanks for the great tip!! Fortunately, we already have AP's and will probably only eat once or twice at the Dolphin, so it really won't pay us to extend our DC card, as we won't be back again this year (sob!!!:( :( :( ) But that must be great news to those who didn't know that the DC Club could be extended.

:p LOL...Rhode-Islandas TOO? (no one around here has a CLUE when I point and say, "Ova Theya is a bubbla" while at the park.)

Do you also way-a "SNEAKAS"? My Motha does! She used to toss me a "potty" on my birthday, and taught me how to play "cods" (Gin Rummy!). Her vernacular is extensive, rich and delightfully humorous...and she SAYS she does NOT HAVE an accent...it's just the way she talks! She's one HOT TICKET! LOL...:p

Happytrails...where are you? How was the flight home? Any other things to report? I certainly know you can CHIME in on the Eastern LINGO anytime you please! ;)

a quick question--is there a business center at the Dolphin? specifically, can we fax something from there? aparently, I have chosen the end of the fiscal year for our trip and DH might have to send a few things back to the office at the last minute :)
