NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

2002disneybride........not sure I will be much help, but I think you can book either a standard room or jr suite or parlour suite on CL. There was one Jr. suite on the 12th floor, where we stayed and it was in the far west corner, looking over MGM, mostly. There are rooms on both side of the hall, looking at the Dolphin out the back and then out the front, towards mgm and boardwalk.(Look at DF's pic looking at the Swan from the water....that is the front of the Swan). It all depends on what you want to pay and what view you want. There are no balconies on CL. The Swan was lovely and I think you will be happy with CL....sure spoiled us!

Mouseteacher your chair awaits you!

Thanks Michelle

Just in case anyone needs to know, I finally found out 1500 points = $20 for instant rewards.

We are back from our first visit to the Dolphin...and it was as wonderful as you promised! We checked in and were wisked away to our room...which WAS a King Corner with Two Balconies! We had a wonderful view of the entrance to the Boardwalk and a peak of MGM. It was fabulous. Everything was great...right down to the oatmeal soap. You guys are great! Thanks for ALL your help ;)
Hey pewing, so glad to hear that you "finally" ended up with the coveted, corner king room! It must have made your day @ check-in! What floor were you on? I believe the double balconied rooms are on the 5th, 7th and 9th. Did you have an unobstructed EPCOT view as well? Thanks for the update and happy to hear you enjoyed the trip.

Pewing,

Glad to hear that things worked out for you. I would love to hear more details regarding your stay.

Pewing...WELCOME HOME! So happy to read all went as you WISHED, and all your dreams were fulfilled! ;)

csmommy...yes, I too recall 1,500 pts will equal $20.00 in a gift certificate/credit! Not too shabby. :) Sorry I didn't get back to you in time with this one. It's WELL worth the points. Only wish SHULA'S would accept "some" kind of discount/special...etc.

HappyTrails....YES, with LEMON, PLEASE! :p

Piper! Are you going to attend this Luau? I called yesterday, and discovered there is a 10% discount (using the Disney Club Card) on the early show (only). We attended last summer, and it was excruciatingly "hot/humid". The wait person appeared as if he may "pass-out" from heat~stroke/exhaustion. Made me feel guilty just "requesting" more tea. Hopefully, there is better ventilation/fans in this outdoor area. I understand the seating is all NEW, and the stage has been revamped as well. Heck...I thought it was great eats, and even though it was HOT, it was worth the $$/time. ;) I believe we are going again!

Time to call rental car location...since DELTA changed my flight times (making more work for moi!). I take it ALL IN STRIDE...."Hakuna Matata"!

:p ;)

disnurse ~ :) ;) Is there Pina Colada delivery with that pix?

bigsis ~ I was a new spg member / no points / no charges on Starwood Amex cc of one month prior to our Dolphin stay last August. I was given a comp upgrade to CL. I believe it depends on the busy-ness of the time you are there. We were there the last week of August - a realtively quiet time for the resorts and the parks. It doesn't hurt to try!

Here you go mouseteacher. Just remember to put on some sunblock, those southern rays can be strong!

All right, DF, you really know how to get us in the mood! Only problem is I'm at work, at my desk waiting for a 5:30 meeting! This is very depressing... I want to be at the S/D poolside and I'll take any of the above delectables. ;)

I'll take any of those drinks! Please make sure the PRINCIPAL gets her drink first!

needs tenure,
Debbie

:D

Debbie ----Giving a principal a drink first - will that get you tenure? ;)

NO, unfortunately it won't get you tenure, it won't keep you from getting pink slipped, and it won't buy you room supplies! It will keep you on the good side of the principal, though, and that is, as mastercard says so well, PRICELESS!

Hello everyone. I'm brand new to these forums and have really enjoyed reading everyone's ideas, suggestions, etc. My husband and I will be at WDW for our 1st anniversary in September and are staying at the Swan for the first part of our trip. I can't wait!! Anyway, I have a few questions I was hoping someone could answer ...

1. Are we crazy to stay at two different resorts while we're there? Our plan is 5 nights at the Swan and 5 nights at Portofino Bay at Universal.

2. Just booked our room at the Swan through the special rate offered on the boards through Dreams Unlimited Travel. I usually book directly through the hotel, so I'm a little nervous about this ... have your experiences using this agency been good?

3. We booked the standard view -- what exactly will our view be?

Thanks!

them on my Gold status as the reservations were Corporate Preferred, and to backhandedly request an upgrade....

Their response--status updated upgrades are available by contacting Starwood 5 days prior to arrival....

How rude;)

Make sure you join starwoods, spg.com our first stay was at the swan with only basic starwoods card, no points and no CC. Well we got a view upgrade to resort view overlooking the boatlaunch and it was great!
I thnk 2 different hotel is ok if you are planning on doing universal parks. FOL is a must so you are better staying onsite. Packing and unpacking is not the most fun thugh.

No way you're crazy....this June, we're staying 6 days at WL, 3 days at the Swan, 6 days at AKL, and then 4 days at the Swan. Changing resorts is the best medicine for exorcising those "oh, the vacation's over" blues:p

As to the view, I don't know what you might get. One piece of advice though, join SPG @ www.SPG.com With membership, you stand a good chance of upgrades, though you can see my luck above:rolleyes: Anyway, have fun anticipating:p
