NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

I figured out what the problem was with the recipe club. I decided to send a "I want to go back!!!" post card to my DH. While there I decided to check my profile to see if I had missed anything or needed to change anything. I hadn't checked "recipe club"!

I am going to start on the "We need to go right after Christmas but before I have to be back for school" vacation push. I would like to book the Dolphin before the rates go up or out right disappear for teachers! If nothing else, maybe the wear-down will work towards an Easter vacation.

I went to meals.com and pulled up some veal dishes, deciding on a mushrooms/artichoke hearts version with lemon and cream. *0 calories I am sure*. Went to the store to pick up some fresh fruit/veggies and veal, forgetting I live in a small town that does NOT keep veal in stock! They literally "grow" veal down the street from us, which is why I wouldn't eat it for years, but they don't have it in the grocery stores! LOL I made some substitutions and I think it will turn out ok. A nice spring salad, crusty bread, wine, and maybe I can push that next vacation? *honey, remember that coffee flavored creme brulee you loved?* hint hint hint
Thanks Ozzie, for giving me the push to cook a good meal tonight! :)

Its great to see positive reviews about the Swan and Dolphin today. Although, maybe a few negatives would help my reservation status! LOL

Debbie

PS in small towns, "down the street" means five miles or less, not to be confused with a big city's "around the corner" :)

Debbie ~ I'll be right over for dinner! :p Sounds delicious. I saw a recipe being tested on America's Test Kitchen - chicken piccata (I love lemon, too)- that I am going to try tomorrow night.

Keep temptimg your DH and I'll bet a Christmas stay will come your way!

Just got back from my nightly walk with Reilly, my beloved Airedale and resident spoiled brat. Getting in shape for lots of walking next week. :bounce:

Who else is going to the Swan on the Recipe Club deal?

I know Ozzie just returned and I was wondering if anyone else who is going in the near future (besides me) is using this deal?

Meee! It's actually a pretty good deal for S/D, I imagine, as I probably wouldn't have thought to try Kimono's or Palio's without the promotion...so many restaurants...so little time...

Wow Debbie that does sound good. I stayed home from work today sick. I think I have a summer cold/flu thing. Anyway our house is a mess and we have no food - poor dh he is fending for us tonight.
Oh well staying home today I got a lot of rest and was able to do more research about our trip. I am still looking into the process of transferring between the Swan and the GF. Last year we did it between to Disney operated resorts so it was a piece of cake.
I also worked on my "checklist" pre-trip planning. Gotta get our Towncar reserved, finalize any last minute PS's and stuff.
I know that I will be packing at the last minute no matter how much I prepare now anyway!!!

I am excited that we can use the Recipe Club credit for Room Service. I love having room service! To me that would make the Recipe Club offer worth it alone! The Swan reservations agent who booked us was not sure if room service was eligible for the f/b credit.

As most of you know I have been "out of the loop" for the past few months. I am clueless to what the recipe club is, please fill me in.... Thanks!

Dinner went over well! I put the leftovers in the fridge; help yourselves! Mentioned that I was trying to make a "Palio" dinner. After dinner, someone behind my computer said said "You want to go BACK??" <b> POST CARD RECEIVED! </b> Haven't thrown out any dates yet, I'll work on him slowly! Christmas even gets iffy. I'd love to do Christmas there, but DD's birthday is the 23rd and she doesn't like that idea (will be 18).. our anniversary is the 29th, so that makes it the perfect time! My birthday is the 4th (of Jan) and that makes it even better, but I do want to be with our DD on her 18th. *I think this makes me old*

Hookedup>>The room service menu looks fabulous! I read it many times while waiting for princess to get her makeup/hair done before we left for the parks. I am glad you are able to utilize it with the recipe club rate!

lonegungirl>> You're going to have fun picking out your food choices! We almost tried the sushi bar, but we still had ds with us, he was hungry (go figure) and there was a party going on in there. I figured the party didn't need to wind down due to our presence at 12 at night. We loved Palio as you can tell from my posts. I would have liked to try Gullivers, but it never fit our park/eating schedule.

Good night everyone!
Debbie

HI Mom Poppins! I hope baby Kirk and the whole family are doing well! You posted while I was writing, so here is some of the information for the recipe club.

http://www.swandolphin.com/promos/recipeclub/index.html

This is a promotion the Swan/Dolphin had and some people are using. I was worried because I couldn't figure out how to sign up for the promotions. Turns out my user profile on the website *where you send postcards on www.swandolphin.com* didn't have the recipe club selected as one of the emails I'd like to receive.

Hope that helps!

I am helping my brother-in-law with a weekend trip to WDW (lucky them live in Florida). Anyway, I have convinced them to stay at the Swan/Dolphin. We just couldn't stop talking about the fabulous time we just had at the Dolphin in June and they are anxious to go.

Should I book them a room at the Swan or the Dolphin? It will be an anniversary trip with no kids. (Well, actually they will have to bring the one that is "in the oven".) Any suggestions? We stayed at the Dolphin and loved the easy access to Tubbis and the pool, etc. But I thought they might like the newly renovated rooms with the Heavenly Beds. What about the views at the Swan?

Thanks,
Maggie

maggiew>> I would book the Swan for the renovated room and the heavenly bed, unless you can get a guaranteed renovated room at the Dolphin. The bed really is heaven!

Couldn't stay away from the office any longer - so... it's a cloudy day and I popped in to school to do some catch up. But of course, I took a few minutes to check in on the DIS.

maggie ~ I agree with hockeymom on the Swan. DH and I are taking a 5 day /4 night trip w/o kids next week (it is pretty close to our wedding anniversary -7/30) and we chose the Swan. I have stayed at the Dolphin and loved it; but thought for just the 2 of us the Swan seemed more sedate and adult-like. Plus, I couldn't resist those beds and a renovated room.

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing! you always take such great photos!:) I notice you have in action photos of "The Festival of the Lion King", while I found out just recently that we have up close pictures of the brunette (female) lead singer in the tarzan show. I need to make sure that Dh doesn't always have the camera!

I really wanted to see Lion King, but never made it there when the show was about to start. I think I just named off another reason why we must go back! *I tried out dates during Christmas for the teacher rate, they worked! January 2nd and 3rd on up the rates did go up, though.*

To ozzie ~ APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE! Great photos particularly the castle with the reflection - lovely! Excited - DID YOU SAY EXCITED???!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I just asked DH should we pack in one big suitcase or 2 small ones? I want to get it out this weekend - step 1 bringing us closer to departure.

Keep the photos coming, please.

Ozzie, great pictures! I can't wait until our Dec/Jan stay at the Dolphin! Your pictures really jump out at me! I love Festival of the Lion King Show! Thank you for posting them! Did you take them with your digital camera? I'm asking because my DS's GF sent me email photos that she took with her 35 mm. She must of scanned them? It is so mysterious to me but i do have a digital camera and I will be bringing it next time we go! I am determined to learn how to post pictures before we leave! I have 163 more days;)

Hey Everyone! Someone has sprinkled some pixie dust my way, not only is my Swan CL stay saved (thanks again, ozziew!) but, my lavendar computer screen has miraculously repaired itself!

The sun is shining once again, as we eagerly await our departure (shortly after Mouseteacher)!

BTW, Mouseteacher, I was over on the WL forum and saw they were mentioning a mini Dis-Meet at the MK Plaza pavilion on Tuesday , July 29th at 9:30 PM (I believe that is an eride night..)
Are you going?

Ozzie and Dreamflight, I am going to break out my manual and study up on my digital camera so I can take some great pictures to share as well! (Quite awesome, Ozziewags!)

Well, I am feeling downright lucky so I am going to test my luck and call on the "Tag Fairy" to sprinkle me with a little extra pixie powder and make me one of the gang!

I BELIEVE! I BELIEVE! I BELIEVE! I BELIEVE!!

Muffy, I took these with a digital camera I got for Christmas. I drive my family crazy. I just like to play around with it. Don't worry about posting before you go, we will make sure you can post them when you get back.

Mouseteacher, glad you enjoy them. Here are a few more...

OOOOHHHH! beautiful castle picture! I love the impatiens in the foreground mimicing the color in the castle! The jungle cruise! A family favorite!

disbug>> glad your plans worked themselves out!

Mouseteacher>> Take two small suitcases! This way you can repack all the dirty clothes into one, keeping whatever you don't wear in the other one so they never have to mix on the way home.

I need to get to sleep here, perhaps I'll read a pool hopping thread or refillable mug thread, that should do me in! :)
