my stepmom actually makes the food for our Danes...i have no idea what's in it, other than white rice. But yes, they can be verryyy stinky creatures.

What beautiful dogs! Congrats on the new addition!

Our dog Buddy (or as I call him, The most expensive $5 pound dog EVER - he's a corgi mix) has an extremely sensitive stomach. I had to switch him cold turkey repeatedly and it took months of changing food to find something that worked for him (and he also had his anal gland removed in the interim which we suspected was the problem - it was just part of it). He had a full blood panel and other tests as well - but everything came back "normal". When it got really bad (and he'd wake me up 4 times every night to go out) I would give him boiled chicken and rice - and that always made him fine again. So, after consulting with the vet who was just as frustrated with his issues as I was, I make his food. I make big batches of white and brown rice mixed with either hamburger or chicken or turkey and I freeze them in packets. He eats this with proplan sensitive stomach/skin dry food (salmon based).

Started this about 6 months ago and I get to sleep through the night so I am so much happier... and he is so much happier without stomach pains and gas.
