New Disney Theme Park reservation system

The optics are pretty bad, though. In our case the people on our reservation that don't have tickets are not DVC members. I've tried two different online chats with two different groups (DVC and the ticket folks) and both said Disney would happily sell them a full price (non DVC, non FL resident) AP, but not the simple 7 day park ticket they actually need.

That's not cool.

They shut down AP sales tonight. That is no longer an option.

Well, this will be a cluster for me...I have DVC reservations for October (7 nights) for 4 people, rebooked from May; November (9 nights for two people) and December 16 nights (8 nights for 10 peeps and 8 nights for 2 peeps). I and everyone in my party are all APs, and all linked; so does this mean on Monday, I’m going to have to book park reservations for 32 days...😱

Sure does...depending on how often it crashes...could take you until Tuesday.

I was scolded for raising this question on the non AP thread in TPAS, so I’ll try here. My situation is a DVC points only reservation for a party of 4 for a week in early December. The party consists of:

1. Me- an AP that expired in May, which will be extended but not by enough to get to December.

2. My wife- an AP that expires in January.

3. An adult daughter who has no tickets (ordinarily would buy a hopper before FP reservation window opens).

4. Another adult daughter who is a CM whose park pass will likely be blocked out.

Am I understanding correctly that on Monday my wife, and only my wife, will be able to get park reservations (and even that would require a long wait and a lot of luck to get through).

If this is how it works, it looks like a cancellation of all or most of the trip is coming.

Monday will open for theme park reservations through Sept 2021. So yes you need to be online for a May 2021 stay.

That's the problem. I have an AP which now expires in January which I intend to get a refund for. I have ressies for next April and intend to make ressies for next July, which, as a DVC member, I cannot make as yet. I have no intent to buy a new AP until 2 months prior to my spring ressie, and that's only if I need it for FP+. However, others will be able to make park ressies if they have ticket media while I can't. As a DVC member, I should be able to reserve park times based upon my DVC reservation regardless as to whether I have purchased my tickets yet. I shouldn't have to buy a ticket 10 months in advance to guarantee my park entry. We aren't occassional visitors. We are DVC members who deserve to be at the head of the line. Why would I bother to go if I won't be able to enter the parks???

So at this point I’m feeling really sad about our November 2020 trip at Jambo booked on our points. We didn’t buy tickets when I booked, because I wasn’t sure if we’d 100% be going. Now I can’t buy tickets until end of summer. Also my kids are early risers (ages 4 and 5)...we always do rope drop! They cannot do evening they’re so grumpy- we usually do dinner at a resort and pool time. What if we can’t get the park we want because I can’t buy tickets- and even if I get a park reservation will park opening be available?! Seems like such a headache to plan. While I understand the need for Disney to implement all these guidelines I just can’t justify flying down and spending so much money when I don’t know if the product we will get will work for our family.

Yes- just read that.
If you are an Annual Passholder that has paid in full, your options include:
  • You will receive a one month extension to your pass (unless you choose one of the alternative options below). This additional month will automatically be processed and visible in your My Disney Experience account in October 2020.
  • Alternatively, and in lieu of the one month extension, Passholders who have paid in full may choose to cancel their annual pass and receive a partial refund.

The question is as to whether the refund will only be for the days WDW was closed. It should be for whatever time you had lefet on your ticket from the beginning of park closures since an AP is no longer an AP w/o guaranteed park entry and park hopping. It isn't what I purchased.

So, on Monday, it sounds like pretty much all onsite guests.,,and some offsite that have Disney privilege...with tickets can go in and book and it even seems like all dates...can we say IT crash?
Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. They probably should break it down to a few months of reservations at a time. We have reservations and tickets for July, but everyone with a reservation in November, December January.... etc will be on at the same time and clog up the site and cause it to crash :(

I see some folks got emails about Monday. What if we didn't get an email about booking on Monday? We have a Dec res and park tickets all linked.

I am hoping that maybe before Monday they will come out and decide not to allow everyone on.

I think it would have been so much better to make Monday just July and August trips only.

I have an early August reservation with linked APs and didn’t get an email but I see that people are getting them for stays as late as November. I’m also unsure if I can make a reservation or not.

Even without the email, you can go to MDE to book parks. You have to do it in A web browser and not the app.

It should open Around 7 am...not sure how long it will take for people to get in

Thank you! That’s very helpful!

So I wonder how this will affect the Holidays next year? We were looking at a December trip, I am guessing when they post packages for next year we will book our reservations as well.

I can just picture logging in on Monday and getting a “Getting ready for launch” or some other virtual waiting room message.
We all know the lasy a@@ Dwarves will appear on the loading screen and say that they all slept in and to come back later...

I am so confused. We have a DVC stay in December 2020. We have no tickets (yet). I got an email from Disney saying I was eligible to make theme park reservations on Monday the 22nd. I will try it and see what happens. I will buy the tickets later. Unless I have APs, I would never have tickets this early. I worry about it right before the fast pass window.

we need our own thread. There are several of us on diferent threads.

I'll pick the 11:00 because I hate to get up early.

Someone on WDWMagic who took the TA training on the reservation system said that for WDW, the time only refers to park hours. It sounds like they may be using the time slots for Disneyland though. She said they very specifically spoke to this point in the training. (And another TA who did the training confirmed.)
