New Disney Theme Park reservation system

Why should we members have to purchase tickets for 2021 trips 10+months in advance merely to secure a park reservation? This is nuts! The only reason in the past to purchase tickets ahead of one's trip was to secure FP+, and then that was only 60 days out. At that point, a member was more secure in knowing they could make the trip they booked up to 11 months earlier. DVC members need to be able to book park ressies with only a room reservation since we are Disney's biggest supporters. They didn't consider us one iota.

Does anyone know if we can still book our park reservations under one MDE? I heard rumor that everyone in your party will need a MDE? I sure hope not because some people are not tech savvy.
I believe it was a misunderstanding. I know a few folks who thought the same on the video and even I thought the same till a mod cleared it up. Everyone just needs to be linked onto a MDE with tickets +resort Rez.

Ok. That is really a relief. I have a reservation and tickets linked to MDE. I am just reading everything I need to prepare for. This is sweatier than ADR's. 🤣

From some different sources out there..posted in other threads and what I was told...the system is going to only allow for 2020 bookings come Monday.

I know I want to get my August and October ones done next week...but not the others booked as those are solo trips anyway.

In terms of reservation # changes, yeah, I don’t know or haven’t heard about that

I really wish Disney would put something out if it's true that only those with bookings for 2020 can start booking on Monday. The system is going to be overloaded as it is without adding those that are trying to book for 2021 and then find out they can't book yet. Also, I have seen people post that they have received an email for the trip in 2021 telling them they can book on June 22nd. While I have a reservation for Aug 2020 and have received no email.

I have to tip my hat to Disney's IT department yet again. I've gotten multiple email messages saying I had a DVC reservation and tickets, so I should do the park reservation thing.

I have reservations in August, January and March and have an annual pass yet received nothing. 😏

So I’m not tipping my hat to Disney’s IT.... it’s same old same old.

I‘m pretty sure that isn't true. The information Disney put out says park reservations will be available through September 26, 2021.

Huh, Maybe I’m brain dead from reading about 30 pages of this board below yesterday, but thought the 2021bookings opening on Monday sounded correct. Will check back. Tks.

Also not sure I can convince a large family group that everyone needs to buy park passes now for a trip that may be 17 months away 😬

OK this is what I was referring to...sounds unclear at this point:A2B5C048-5051-46DA-859F-798C21935D24.jpeg

I am so confused. We have a DVC stay in December 2020. We have no tickets (yet). I got an email from Disney saying I was eligible to make theme park reservations on Monday the 22nd. I will try it and see what happens. I will buy the tickets later. Unless I have APs, I would never have tickets this early. I worry about it right before the fast pass window.

I also have a Dec 2020 reservation for 6 nights and have not received an email. I hope you are able to make reservations.

So far I only have myself (though MDE has DH also) on my reservation because I really don't know if we are going or not, but there could be 10 of us, but no one else has any tickets. Anyway, only DH and myself have unused APs in my MDE account but I wasn't planning on using them for this trip. We have 7 day passes that I haven't linked to my MDE account, and some really old ones that I was hoping to have Guest Services put on my MDE once I get to WDW. Originally this trip was to be 10 days but with the borrowing restriction, 6 days is all I'm planning.

There is no way I want to use any of my current passes for this odd reservation and chaotic experience. This is so upsetting.

I really think Disney should let everyone make a reservation and charge a discounted amount depending on the park days you reserve and hours in the park, and maybe not even charge your cc until you scan your magic band going through the turnstiles.

If this trip doesn't happen for us, I'm going to book a trip to HH to use 2019 points and hope that we can go December 2021 as a large family. But this has just gotten so much more confusing. :sad2:

Does anyone think there’s a chance you can show up at your reserved park at your reserved time, and still be denied admission due to capacity? (besides a failed temperature check or some other behavior- or weather-related reason)

I have not received an email from Disney. I have a split stay with park hopper tickets all are linked to MDE. Anyone else not get the email?

No. Because that is why the reservation system had been put in place. It is to monitor how many people are allowed in. So, this will already be determined before you enter. They will not have reservations available for parks that have met capacity. Although, I don't think they will hit capacity at any time if what I am hearing on boards is correct. A lot of people are not interested in the confusing rules as well as wearing masks, limited experiences, and rules, rules, rules. It doesn't sound very relaxing to them so they opted to wait it out.
I am really anxious to see crowd levels. It is anyone's guess.

Thanks! A few days/weeks ago, the “small print” was that having a room reservation or park tickets does not guarantee park admission. Now that there’s going to be a “Park Reservation” system, my husband swears he read something that said, even with a park reservation, there’s still no guaranteed admission. I think he’s mixing things up and/or misremembering since there was so much new information released this week, and he can't remember where he saw that, so I'm calling "fake news" - LOL!

It sounds like DVC members didn't get an email? Maybe just people who booked Disney World packages? I am going to call DVC. I will let you all know what I find out.

I did get through to DVC member services at the stroke of 9 AM EDT. I was on hold for about 30 minutes. On the subject of the Email this CM told me that DVC is on a different reservation system so that might (or might not) explain why some people are getting a message and others aren’t.

I got a message because I have an AP, but not one based on the DVC reservation.

I also rented points so maybe the email went to the owner? not the MDE its on? idk

We got the email yesterday. We are DVC with a December reservation and have 9 day PHs linked to to our reservation in MDE.

Does anyone know how 4 park magic tickets will be handled? What if there's no availability for Magic Kingdom & we have to do 2 days at Animal Kingdom? I asked in chat with a cm & was told to wait until Monday.
