New Disney Survey - inelgible if participate in social media

I actually enjoy participating in surveys. Surveys are a very scientific tool, and when used properly, are very useful. As part of my Masters program, we had to do a lot of research and surveys were an important part of the scientific process. I love it when a 'political' survey comes along, like late at night on the phone, and they claim to be an 'unbiased' research team. After the first few questions I can tell what results they are trying to obtain in order to promote their agenda, vs. a true scientific survey. Then the fun begins when I interrupt them and challenge the survey bases. But I digress.... I have found Disney surveys to be very well developed and are extremely research/stylistically based. I can't always tell what end goal is, but if my honest input helps in some small way to keep WDW a happy place for my vacations, then I'll continue to participate.

So how much you getting paid to be on here? :-)

Actually, being on here has paid off quite well, money wise! But if it is something I enjoy doing, I don't mind spending my time doing it. But I am not going to just give my time away for free. Just like I wouldn't work an extra 30 minutes on my job without getting paid.

Sometimes being deemed 'ineligible ' on these surveys actually means that they have already received sufficient responses from your representative group.
^^^^Yes! This.

I used to have a researcher on my staff that had a PhD in survey analytics. Fascinating stuff.

And I also like to play with the telephone survey's for the cable, satellite, political, or other groups trying to elicit a specific response. That is, if I get past the "HEY! WHAT DID I WIN?" that I usually answer unknown callers with. o_O

I did one the other day with different scenarios of tiered ticket prices. I answered that I was pretty active on social media, so maybe your demographic was filled up?

I was asked to do a survey about a month ago and all of the questions were about how you use electronic devices on your vacation and in the parks. It asked about how much you would (or wouldn't) pay for a Disney app to use in the parks to help enhance the park experiences such as character interactions, trivia, behind the scenes videos and special magical effects at attractions. They were also specific in asking about how you let your kids use electronic devices on vacation. Interesting thoughts, but I'm not sure that I would want to be even more tied down to my phone or IPad than now.

No, I wouldn't. My time is precious. A lot of companies want people to do this now a days. Not this girl. Time is money.

As someone in IT with a lot of down time in front of a computer, I admire this. Often I wish I didn't have so much "free" time and could be more productive! ;)

Absolutely, A few years ago 08? my dh received over $200 disney bucks for doing a survey while at Disney. There are numerous companies like P&G who pay big bucks for peoples opinions and time. As far as being on here vs doing a review is a ridiculous comparison.

Interesting. It may be more age and gender based since the PP was put through, or it may be designed to reach people like my mother who don't really even know what facebook is. Maybe they are looking at marketing and trying to see where they can get to those that don't really use social media -- or the impact that being so tech focused by having people book things like FP+ through their app affects the less tech inclined. Of course the problem with that is a lot of those people aren't going to click on, or respond to a survey they got by e-mail. If an e-mail doesn't come from a friend or family member, my Mom just deletes it. Interestingly, I was at the park with DD yesterday and saw 2 families we know, that know we go to WDW quite a bit--- and they both told me that they were going to take their families to WDW, but that when they started looking at it and saw all the stuff about FP+, using the app, and other things, it seemed too overwhelming and that they decided they would just travel elsewhere. One family had never been, and one had been about 8 years ago before 2 of their 3 kids were born. I was trying to tell them, they would still have a great time and I could help if they wanted- or that they could go to DL and avoid all the excess planning. So, apparently the new tech and systems are scaring some people away.
