New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

Nope. I have no intention of going on Triton Class. The only reason I was booked on the Wish was because my BFF is getting married on her the cruise after Thanksgiving because that fit the extended family's time schedule (I had to cancel because my rent increased too much).

I tried Anthem of the Seas and confirmed that behemoth class and larger is NOT for me.

Sure, I wasn't saying anything about individuals, only making comments about the market as a whole. Obviously Disney will alienate some customers by going with larger ships, but the gambit is that most of their existing customers will still sail with Disney while at the same time drawing in new-to-DCL customers that are excited by the new, big ships.

Does Meyer Werft have a ship size limitation with River Ems Conveyance?

Did they specifically say they're going with Meyer Werft for the future ships? My understanding is that there's been a mad dash to secure shipbuilding capacity (i.e. MSC is going with Meyer Turku for the first time), and in the scramble DCL wouldn't necessarily work with Werft for these 4 ships.

The industry is just not moving in that direction. DCL would be way behind the other lines in terms of revenue, and their fleet is much smaller than the others, so they're not at any risk of building too big for the ports they serve. You'll notice that even mega ships like the Star Princess are serving Alaska now, and the MSC Euribia in Norway. These are ~180,000 GT ships. "Small" for the industry now means Disney Wish / Triton-class size.
Gary Bembridge (tips for travelers on YouTube) posted a video about multiple ports that are going to be limiting passengers. I do not think Disney will set themselves up to be caught with their pants down when this happens. I think this will be a new trend and expand to more ports.

YEP...
However, the four new Disney Cruise ships will be constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard.

I have a stupid question...DH and I can only count twelve ships total with the new ships. 🤣 Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy, Wish, Treasure, Destiny, Adventure, plus the new four. That makes twelve. What ship are we forgetting?

Gotcha, so they can do at least the size of the Carnival Excel-class ships at around 185,000 GT, right? That's a big jump up from the Disney Triton ships.
If they go with the iconic funnels, which they probably will, maybe not due to the height constraint of the building.

Interesting point, but Carnival has the obnoxious whale tail thing and they got that through. Also there's some retractable funnel technology now on ships like the Sun and Star Princess (Fincantieri, not Meyer Werft, but still), which might allow them to go taller and still fit under bridges or other obstructions.

Agree, but if you read the article about the Adventure, they had to bring in a special crane just to reconfigure the ship for DCL and the funnels were probably part of the issue. We'll all just have guess or speculate for a few more years. :-)

You can do that with the actual, working funnel. But not with one that houses a guest suite.
