For those of you who don't venture to the budget board, I thought you might like to know that Disney now has a new Gift Card.

My DD loves Disney Dollars but she's already saved $150 and we have 2 years to go. I might get her disney dollars so she can have $10 a day on her but anything over that I might put on the gift card and I will keep that on me.

Here is some information on them:

* There is no expiration date on the funds on a Disney Gift Card

* Minimum Load - $5 at the Disney Store or Resorts (if purchased online, you have to select from a preset dollar amount)

* Maximum Load (in Disney Stores) - $1500.00

* It's reloadable and can be used at Disney Stores, Disneyshopping.com, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line & WDW. (from $5-$1500)

* You can use it to buy Park Passes & it can be used at all WDW resorts, restaurants & shops. Can also be used for purchases at the Magic of Disney and Disney's Earport at the Orlando International Airport.

* Refunds will not be given on any remaining card balances, so once the funds are on the card, they stay on the card.

* NO FEE for unused balances.

Here are 2 websites that contain information on them. The disneyshopping website has a FAQ section.

That sounds like a great gift idea too! (My birthday is coming up soon....)

:cool1: thanks! I knew it came out this week but wasn't sure if you could use your disney dollars to buy it. I think I will take all my disney dollars back to the store and get a gift card or two.

I just bought one of these for a friend for her Nursing School Graduation gift. We all leave next week for Disney. The clerk at the store said it could be used to pay for hotel or anything. But....the disney card website says it can't be used to pay for the hotel yet. It won't matter because I'm sure she will be able to use it for food or souveniers but.....I'm glad I read the website before I misinformed her about putting it on her hotel bill. These cards are really neat!!! We also bought one for her "almost" 13-year-old son (our Godson) for a little "play" money for him. But...we stuck with Disney Dollars for our 5-year-old nephew because that's what he's familiar with. I do like the cards much better!!!!

Yeah i just checked to see if I could use it to pay off my disney hotel, bummer :guilty: :sad2:

i just stumbled across the disney GC today when i went to my disney store to buy disney dollars. they only had $1 and $10 denominations so she suggested that i buy a giftcard instead. brilliant. who wants to carry 20 or 40 $10 dollar disney dollars in their wallet. my wallet wouldn't shut!!! now i don't have to bring cash.

ok so quick quesiton...can you add money to it at the disney store at a local mall?
Yes, you can add money to it from the disney stores.

I will be getting my DD one. I don't want her to carry around too many disney dollars. I think $10 or $15 a day would be good and the rest I will put on a gift card that will be carried with me.

I really like this idea and glad they came up with one to use at Disney. Now I just have to get my butt to the mall to purchase one.

Yeah, I finally made it to the Disney Store and got a card for DD and myself. They are so cute and hologram like. Great souvenier once your done with them.

I LOVE IT...

We are going in Dec. with our 14 year old neice. Do they offer other characters or just Mickey? :confused3

Thanks!

I spoke with one of the cm at disney reservations and they told me that not now, but soon you will be able to use the disney gift cards at the hotels. She said they don't have the system programed in yet, but it is in the works. I'm hoping by next year this will happen. It would be great to save extra on our room pkg.

However I have read that you can use the gift card to make payment of room stays at the Disneyland Resorts.

We're leaving for WDW next week, and my best friend just bought 2 gift cards for my DD6 and DD8 (she'll turn 9 while we're there). I think it's a great idea - easier to carry around than Disney dollars. The girls have each saved up about $25, and I think I'll have this added to their gift cards.
