New discounts to be released aug 14th?

I AM SOOOOO EXCITED!!!! Just booked our 1-year anniversary trip, staying 10/4-10/11 7 nights with a 1-day base ticket (since we already have our tickets) at the Coronado Springs Resort, got it for $933.20 using discount code DGL!!! The price I found on the website without code was $1,452.88!! Total savings of $519.68!!! WOOHOO!!!! THANKS DISBOARDS, YOU'RE THE BEST!

I did the same thing, booking with a 1-day base ticket since we already have our tickets, but now I'm second guessing myself. What does everyone do with the 1-day base ticket when they book this way? Do you have no expiration option tickets? I bought our 6-day PH tix a year ago August, two price increases ago, but I didn't need the no expiration option on them. Maybe I should upgrade the tickets to 10 day no expiration ones when we go. I guess I'll have to figure out if that would be a good option cost-wise.

I just got a call from our AAA travel agent. She got a discount of $358 today for our stay 11/12-19th at POP. We DID have to switch from a Preferred Room to a Standard, but I'm pretty sure we'll survive. :cool1:

Disney might surprise me, but I would say no, at least not soon. Last year there wasn't a room only code released until September 27, and it only covered October 21-December 23. Based on the limited availability of rooms this fall, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a room only code for the general public for the end of 2008.

I'm still hoping Disney does surprise you, but won't get my hopes up too high. Thanks for all of your help with your web site and here on the DIS answering inquiries and prognosticating. :goodvibes

Do you know if last year the Disney Visa package code was the same as the one released to the GP a few days later? Just wondering if there's hope of a Visa code coming out still and if it does, if it'd be better than one for the GP or the same, just last year Visa holders had a couple of days jump start over the GP.

I just got off the phone and we saved $502!!! This is for a 6 night/basic dining/basic ticket package for 5. We were able to keep our standard room at Pop Century from Dec 18-24.

How much would you have saved if you'd switched from Preferred to Standard without the code?

I can't think of a single example where the Disney Visa code was better than the general public code. The discounts and room availability have always been identical. The only benefit of the Disney Visa codes has been that DV cardholders got a 3-day jump on the general public. Since that didn't happen this time, I'd say it's highly unlikely any DV code that might appear will do you any good, sorry.

Thanks for the info. I'll just be happy that I was able to get the resort I wanted with the GP code this morning. :)

We saved $942!!!
Originally we were booked for ASMU Family Suite, 3adults and 3 kids, Nov13-22, with the regular dining plan. We now have 2 rooms booked in standard rooms. We could have had a preferred room at ASMo, but decided to just go for the standard room.

We are driving down from PA, so this will help with gas money!!

I am sooo excited.:cool1:

First, thanks for all of your valuable expertise! All of us crazy code-hounds appreciate you so much!

Second, you mentioned above that the Visa codes aren't better than the GP codes...does the same hold true for AP discounts? I'm currently booked for a room-only on an AP discount for my dates (Nov. 15-22), so the GP package codes certainly don't work for me, but I was wondering if a Disney Visa code might be any better than my AP room-only rate? Based on history, of course...I know no one has a crystal ball :rotfl:

I wouldn't be so disappointed if the rack price on my rooms hadn't gone UP since I booked (I booked it at $165 per night originally...then my AP discount took it down to $134 per night, but they've increased the rack price to $185 to make it look like a deeper discount). Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to save ANYTHING, but I sure hoped it would be just a tad better for the AP discount. Maybe DVisa will come through?

Thanks a million!

Chris

Annual Passholder discounts are the lowest available room rate, 99.9% of the time. I don't think you're likely to do better.

????? I am so new to this. We booked our trip through AAA and I e-mailed my TA, but I have not heard from her. I heard she may be out of the office. Our trip is booked and paid for. We are staying at POR for 7 nights and have the dining plan. There are five of us in our family. Should we be able to use this discount? And I am assuming my TA is the only one who can now do this for us. Thanks for any info, I rely on the dis for all of my info!;)

Well, I called and left a message with my AAA TA this morning at 7:15 (she gets in at 10) with the info. She called at 10 to tell me she would call and see what she could do.

I didn't hear from her all day. She just called at 4:50 -

We have the exact same package and I was able to call and have code QXD applied. I saved over $593! As long as there are still discounted rooms available at POR you should get the discount.

I called her and she hadn't even checked on it. She didn't think we would get anything and that she would check when she was back in on Monday!! I e-mailed JoanieS's thread to show her what type of discount she received. I am going to be upset if I am not able to get this. Did any of you already have your package booked and then they added this discount and you'll get your money back. Or did you just book your vacation today?

We had our package booked and paid for and we were still able to use the codes! We saved $519 on our POR package. I would call!

I am having the same problem with my travel agent! She could not attach the code, yet my friend who booked on their own did it with no problem. They had the exact same reservation as us, but NO travel agent. I guess we have learnt a very expensive lesson.:sad2:
