EAGLE PINES TO CLOSE ON JULY 31, 2007

In order to make way for development of a new luxury resort, Disney's Eagle Pines Golf Course will have it's last day of operation on July 31, 2007. A new golf course is planned for this acreage.

Anyone have any info? I imagine it will have DVC units.

It has been posted on here that a Four Seasons is going to be built, if you do a search you can probably find it. That's probably what it is.

Its a four season run hotel. All the info can be found at allears, just search for four seasons...

There was an extensive discussion on the Four Seasons development on the news/rumors board. Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1374232

This will not be a Disney owned and operated resort. The land where the Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge courses are located has been sold (or leased long term) to the Four Seasons Resort group. The property will have a Four Seasons resort hotel, fractional ownership high end single family homes and some condo or time share type units. Since the property will be Four Seasons property any, time share will be Four Seasons and not DVC.

As I interpret the press releases and media reports, the bulk of the construction of the resort and other units will be on the current site of the Eagle Pines golf course. I don't think that course will survive, although some have interpreted the information availabe as indicating the course will survive in and around the resort properties. The information states quite clearly that Osprey Ridge will be revised and when finished be rebranded as a Four Seasons course. I presume if it is rebranded as a Four Season course the access to that course for Disney guests will either not exist or it will be very restricted.

Eagle Pines is closing tomorrow so Disney is now down to 81 holes of golf. The rumors are Osprey Ridge will be in the Disney fold until 2010. 2010 is projected to be the opening of the Four Seasons resort, so 2010 for Osprey may be reasonable, but I think it more likely to be 2009 so they can have the new rebranded course ready for the Four Seasons opening.

It will be interesting to see what the plans are for the hotel. It will definitely bring a new level of service to WDW. The press release also mentions single & multi-family vacation homes along with fractional ownership vacation homes, and the hotel. So it sounds like it will be partially residential if I am reading that correctly.
