New Deck, Timbertech or treated wood?

I would not go with a composite, it gets mold which is impossible to get off. We put an Azek deck on our home last year DH is 60 I am 58. We were sick of staining our pressure treated deck....too old for that. Love the Azek, very costly but beautiful. enjoy your new deck.

I posted earlier about the Veranda product. We did use the Azek for all the trim work and it has held up beautifully. If I knew then what I know now, I would have done the whole deck in Azek.

Another vote for composite, I have 2 composite decks and love them. I have never had a mold problem and we a very large composite deck around our pool. They are so much more maintenance free there our old wood deck.

I would do composite. Put forth the money and then you can sit back and enjoy it. No yearly up keep like there is with wood.

we did Trek (composite) 10 years ago for decking and supports, rails, etc. are all wood--we could not use the composite, as rails had to be painted a specific off-white per HOA regs--it has worked fine. I would never use wood for decking again. We repaint wood parts every 5 years and the Trek needs a handheld powerwash every 5 years to get gunk and any mold off. Looks great at 10 years. Neighbors built a deck the same time with wood--they just replaced decking with composite.

Thank you guys for all the help. We are going composite (I knew I would lose that argument :rotfl:). Put in 9 posts today, only 10 more (total 30) to go BUT it was raining, I was wearing hip waders and the more mud I stepped in, the heavier the boots got. I was waiting for my feet not to follow my body and go face first in the mud! I was sludging around with a tape measure and a level just waiting to be covered in mud.
Did I mention it was 44 degrees? Lord, I must love my husband.:rotfl2:
