New D23 Expo Superthread! (6/24/2019)

Does anyone know how badges are being shipped (US mail, FedEx, etc)? We are leaving for a WDW trip this Sunday, and then directly to California. If the badges don't come by Saturday, we will have to have someone watch our mail.
They are being shipped USPS First-Class Mail without tracking.

eta: Also when I called D23 Guest Relations, the rep I spoke to believed the badges were shipping from California but that hasn't been confirmed, so take that info with a grain of salt.

According to this, gold goes first, then stage pass, then standby.

I don't know, but I was checking informed delivery and there is a package I don't recognize from PSI Systems, Inc. I hope that it comes soon, though it says still pending pickup from New Hampshire.

I wrote out this little summary on the stores for my friend. I'll post it here in case it helps anyone else. Please correct me if any of my info is incorrect. I believe some of these stores will take the AP or Disney Visa discount.

Mickey's of Glendale (MOG), Disney Store, Dreams Store.

MOG: all the stuff you'd get at the exclusive Mickey's of Glendale (clothes, water bottles, that kind of stuff). They will most likely have a different line for exclusive pins.

Dreams: this is the store that will have a lot of the convention exclusive items. Including artwork, t-shirts, prints etc. We went in the afternoon on Saturday and thought they had plenty of stock.

Disney Store: this is somewhat like the Disney stores that are in malls. This store will have a very limited amount of exclusive items released each morning. The much coveted dolls are a good example. People will overnight for these and they will mostly be sold on ebay for tons of moneys. Besides limited amounts, it will have regular Disney store type items, though a lot of the items will premiere at this store and show up in mall Disney stores in the ensuing months.

If you zoom in on the show floor map in the Expo app, it looks like they are separating out the pins to their own separate area this year right next to the regular MOG store. That should help with the lines for people who aren't looking to buy pins.

Yes, and that had the two with separate lines last Expo As well. If you look at the app, it shows MOG can get the store pass but MOG Pin Store does not have store pass. I can’t recall from last time if they’d let you in the pin store with the store pass as I did not get pins last time, the way MOG worked was the pins were all along the walls. If you Weee in the Pins line, it ended in the store, where you could then shop the MOG store, but if You went to the store, you could not go in to the pins section.

The AP discount has only been at the Dream store, not the others, because the Dream Store is considered an extension of a Disneyland shop.

I’ve not shopped the Disney Store at Expo but if the AP logic follows suit then I’d expect the Disney Visa discount with minimum $50 purchase to work there. However, while the D23 Gold card can get you 15% off $60 or more at a regular Disney store, the expo app does not show any Gold discounts at the expo Disney store.

Since MOG is a CM store, I’ve seen CMs get their CM discount there but I could not get either AP or DV discounts.

CMs get their discount at the Disneystore, excluding some LE items. We don't even get a discount at the "real" Mickey's of Glendale, so no discount at the Expo pop up store either. I can't remember about the Dream store. Maybe?

Correct me if I am wrong! This is my memory, which is sometimes iffy, lol.

I remember asking for a discount at Mickey's Glendale last Expo and I was told no discounts with AP or Disney VISA. I did use a Disney gift card and my Disney VISA reward dollars to make my purchase. I'm about 90% certain I did get an AP discount at the Dream Store, I had a Premier Pass at the time and I remember the cast member saying something about.

So has everyone else noticed that some of the panels have 'stage pass' listed on the app? If that's accurate, looks like all the big panels will have it.

Also, anyone know about the marvel stuff? The 3000 tour and the meet and greets say 'reservation required' but gives no other info.

If it's just first come first served sign ups at the booth like last time I'll just take that off my list already.

I haven't heard anything defintive regarding the signings outside Talent Central. The TalentPass references signings other than Talent Central for reservations but isn't specific. So...? I was going to try for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. signing if it's via TalentPass. But if not...like you, no. ;)

I was wondering about that one myself. Even the 3000 Tour site only indicates more to come on the event.

As a CM here in Canada, I was actually going to ask about our discounts at the D23 Expo and if there were any or not. Is it really just merch at the Disney Store proper? Too bad nothing at MoG...

Does the Disney Store at the D23 Expo have anything unique to the Expo that you wouldn't commonly find in your average mall Disney Store location? Is it worthwhile trying to snag a StorePass for that??

There isn't a $50 minimum to get the 10% discount at Disney Stores with the Disney Rewards Visa. I've successfully redeemed it on purchases under $10. However, it does exclude any "Limited Edition and Limited Availability merchandise" so they won't work on the dolls. Not sure about early release merchandise, or if they'll honor the discount this year at all, but you can read the full restriction language on the Disney Rewards site here: https://disneyrewards.com/shopping-perks/#note-1

So - not sure how many people are accually on this thread - perhaps only a few dozen - but if any of you receive your badges in the mail - please post this immediately. Curious to see when the first badges arrive. (If they really shipped on Monday I would think the answer would be today.)

A bunch of sorcerers noted that labels were created yesterday for packages coming from NH. They're seeing it in usps informed delivery. I, of course, am seeing nothing in my informed delivery account. 😆

Nothing here in SoCalif yet, if they are mailing from the magazine address, that is one day delivery time from mail drop to USPS. And I already have my mail for today,

If they mail out like the magazines seem to be mailed, east coast gets those at least a week before I do, so my guess is those are mailed by ZIP Code order with ours among the last to be dropped.

Literally all Marvel things show reservation required. I searched 'reservation required' in the app and there was like 5 marvel related things that were the only ones that said that. I desperately want to know what the we love you 3000 tour will entail - all I've seen from Instagram is the Russo brothers handing out ice cream. I am expecting to see Sebastian Stan at the Disney+ panel which would conflict with the WLY3000 one. If they are day of first "100" ish like the meet and greets from 2017 there's no chance.

Managing expectations is the hardest part of this whole weekend :P

Regarding expectations for the We Love You 3000 events, I was there for the one at SDCC. The event started at 1:15pm, so I got in line at around 10am. Wristbands were handed out around 11am, and they numbered our hands with Sharpie so I was literally the 100th person in the queue. We did get onto the IMDBoat to get our Hulk sundaes and a 'We Love You 3000' pin, but the Russo brothers and Anthony Mackie were only there to greet the first batch of attendees before leaving. Since I was 100 and we were the third group to be let onto the IMDBoat, that means only about 30ish people got to actually meet the Russos. And only around 200 people got sundaes total. So we waited 3+ hours in the sun with no cover basically for ice cream. But it was SDCC, so that's a drop in the bucket in terms of wait time. Plus we made line friends with some amazing Marvel cosplayers, so it was still a fun experience if you went into it without too high expectations.

Wait - but I DO have a gold family membership - so then I can get 3 passes at once? Sorry - I usually research this but just haven't had the time.
I think I am confusing the Gold Member Priority Queue rules with the advance reservation process. This is the info for the Gold priority queue -

D23 Gold Member Priority Queuing
D23 Gold Member Priority Queuing allows first access to limited general admission seating at Hall D23 and the D23 Expo Arena. D23 Gold Members may bring one (1) Expo guest, and D23 Gold Family Members may bring up to three (3) Expo guests.

I don’t find anything that seems to state or infer Gold Family can make an advance reservation for more than one additional guest. Apologies for the confusion.
