New D23 Expo Superthread! (6/24/2019)

Still no expo badge today, in SoCal. I got excited to see an envelope with Disney for the return address but it was just a credit card offer...:(

Looks like someone on Facebook got their single-day Saturday ticket. Manila envelope from Nevada.

I got an Informed Delivery update for a PSI package coming from MI (label created today). So weird, considering others are getting packages from NH, and NJ is way closer to NH than MI. Oh well, at least it's showing up I guess.

Which badge do you have and where was it mailed from?
The mailed from zip indicates it was shipped from New Hampshire.

I bought two sets of single day badges for Fri and Sat - one set is for Gold Member and the other is general member. However, none of the badges say which is for Gold Member.

I haven't gone through the activation process yet. So, I don't know if you'll be asked to enter your Gold Member info when activating your badge or if they will simply ask for your Gold Card at the expo to prove you're a Gold Member.

Edit after activating badges: activation process did not ask for any Gold Member info, which means the badges themselves are not tied to any particular membership level.

I have to say the badges are a lot nicer than the previous time.

I leave Saturday from the east coast as well for a trip through the southwest before driving up to Anaheim. Luckily I missed the mail out cut off and have to pick up through will call. But I would think they’d arrive to everyone early this week with having the reservations on Friday. Then again, if will-callers dont need the physical badge for reservations, I would guess maybe the activation process isn’t really needed for it?

I do have a question though. If I have no interest in other D23 events provided by Disney if you’re a gold member (mainly because I live nowhere near any of the special events they hold) would it beworth it to sign up for the gold membership? It seems like the expo experience is greatly enhanced by being a member. I suppose I should have looked into this prior to buying my expo ticket to take advantage of the discount

I received my badges today! Three Gold Member 3-day badges. Return address shows Nevada. The "mail from" zip is New Hampshire though. Haven't activated them yet.

There's a two sided piece of paper in there with lots of information - most of which I had already seen. But this bit I had not seen before.

Overnight Queues (Paraphased)
Overnight Queue for Friday starts at 2 PM the day before.
Overnight Queue for Saturday and Sunday starts at 7 PM the day before.

Is that the first time we've seen that?

I think I had read that in some rules on the D23 Expo pages. No way that I am going to get in line at 2pm Thursday for a Friday panel🤪

From the Things to Know on the D23 Expo site -

Overnight Queues
While online reservations guarantee entry to certain sessions, you may line up early to be among the first guests to enter the Show Floor. Overnight queues for general event entry, access to the Show Floor, and Hall D23 will begin the day prior. For admission on Friday, August 23, queues will begin on Thursday, August 22, at 2 p.m. For admission on Saturday, August 24, and Sunday, August 25, queues will begin at 7 p.m. the evening prior. Please do not arrive for overnight queuing early, as queues will not start prior to these times. Main entry for overnight queues is directly off Katella Avenue at the Arena Plaza on the north end of the convention center.

Please do not bring anything that cannot be easily stored in a backpack or smaller-size bag, and please do not leave items unattended. A concession stand offering a limited menu will be open for your convenience. No re-entry is allowed, and all members of your party must be present (no holding space in line for others to join later).

They usually don't publish the full schedule until a week or so out, which definitely drives an overplanner like myself up the wall. So here's the Google sheet of the panel schedule I started to tide us over. I've listed end times only when they were specified. Otherwise, the panel durations are best guesstimates based on past expos: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11m-kIbB3C3bembHY7n91dJT3CkYbNl8Q6ovpAq_S0z4/edit?usp=sharing
Your spreadsheet is great! Thank you

For those of you who received your badges, did your online ticket status change to “shipped”? Mine still says “processing,” so I’m getting a little nervous.

I finally decided to go to the D23 expo and booked tickets and a room a year ago. I've been really excited about it but am disappointed in the hodge podge of information they deliver. even the schedule looks like something they put in a kindergarten class room. Do they give a better schedule with details before we can make online reservations? Or do you have to look at the schedule and dig into past emails or the website to find out what exactly it is about? And any recommendations for a first-timer...who will be there with her teenage daughter?? thanks!

Have you downloaded the app? If you click on an item it gives a description of that event and also shows whether it’s eligible for one of the passes or queues as well as date, time and location. It would be nice if the schedule on the website did the same, but it doesn’t seem to.

Yes, I did download it! Thank you for the info!! I was only looking online but of course the app is what I'd use while I'm there so it makes sense to use it now and get used to it. thank you so much!
