new character meal at mgm

That sounds great! My guys would love that, even though they are not as into Buzz and Woody as they were last year when we went, they are power ranger boys now, they would still love it I think. We will need lots of Pixie Dust to have it in place in time for our trip in March though.

This is fantastic. It's also great that MGM is getting a character meal. That is one thing currently missing today.

I just got off the phone and the CM was a little short with me. She said that they have not been informed of anything as of yet and that she had no further info.

Just emailed Itinerary Planning Concierge staff with the question. I'll let you know!

Oh my gosh,,, our son would LOVE this,, unfortunately we will be there in April. :guilty: I don't think we will plan to return for a few years, we are going to do an all inclusive resort next year.

the premium plan turns Disney into an All inclusive resort. *no alcohol

My wife Favorite is the Cleaner. I know he wouldn't be there.

most likely this will be at Hollywood and Vine buffet.

Seems likely. :goodvibes I can't wait to go. They needed a character meal at mgm though we enjoy the sci-fi drive-in.

When I called to ask, the CM said they now something is coming, just not when and where. I think the H&V guess is the best, so now to guess if its B/L or D. and when it will begin.

I would guess they would have a month to cast and a month to get ready?? any ideas

OMG, great news!! I hope it's "up and running" for our Late May into June trip!! I've already booked H&V for the Fantasmic Dinner package so if it is true that H&V would be the one, I'm so excited!!

It seems that H&V needs an overhaul, and what a better choice? Way to go Disney, yes, there really are BOYS who love Disney too :rotfl2:

am just subscribing because I like Toy Story and would love to see the "toys" at a meal!!! we are going in August and hope it is in place by then!!! :cool1:

We're visiting first weekend in May. Hoping to hear if it's going to be open. I have two little boys. They would love it.

Does anyone remember years ago they had a character meal at MGM...If my memory serves (which it doesn't always :confused3 ) it would have been about 8 or 9 years ago & I think it might have been with the characters from Aladdin (or was it Hunchback??). I can't even remember where they had it, but I don't think it was Hollywood & Vine. It was a big, open place. At any rate, it would be nice to see a different type of character breakfast like this...I hope it's in place by June!!

Oh Ya, this would be awesome!! My son will be 9 when we go, but he still has a soft spot for BUZZ!!!

Oh please, I hope this is ready to go for this May!!

Keeping my fingers crossed . . . . :Pinkbounc :bounce:

My ds will be 7 when we go, and I still have a soft spot for BUZZ!!! We watched Toy Story and Toy Story 2 over and over and over when he was little. I would book it no matter what the kids thought!

I'm hoping there will be a lunch seating!

I thought when we went in Feb of 2003 they had just stopped H&V charachter experiences. I thought it was Mickey and Minnie. I seem to remember my neighbor showing me pics from her late2002 pics of her hubby swing dancing with Minnie here.

I am praying for a boy character meal. DS is 15 but substantially disabled and would still LOVE any kind of boy themed character meal.

I'm really anxious to hear an opening date, because even though we're planning the first weeked in May, if it's opening after that, I may reschedule if it's going to be close. We generally only go for long weekends and do one park, and this year it's MGM. It would probably be awhile til we got back there again.

I'm hoping I'll hear it on these boards first!

I have a question though. How the heck could Buzz walk around the restaurant (And don't forget that it could be at Pizza Planet). Buzz is ginormous and he can't sign so I think he'll be a stationary character like they have one princess by herself at the entrance to Akershus. I can just imagine buzz turning around and knocking granny into her food. lol

I guess Woody and Jesse could walk around. Sully and Mike Wazowski couldn't walk around if they wanted to included other Pixar characters. Mr. Potato Head and the Piggy Bank are too big to walk between tables, I believe. Slinky Dog is impossible. Hmm this is going to be a tough character meal. I guess that's why they want a Sarge.

I would suspect that not every character would be to scale! Sure, slink would definately be a problem and I'm afraid Mr Potato Head would cause my kid to yell, "Can it, Hockey Puck!" but I think Buzz, Woody, Jessie, The Incredibles, etc. would be possible. I know at age 4 my son has no issues combining things of completely different scales -- His standard green army guys play right alongside his much larger Rescue Heroes and he's fine with that...

If Disney wants to cut down on the food costs for the buffet, they only need to ensure the appearance of one character. I can imagine it now -- the complaints caused by the Incredibles Edna Mode walking by and telling each guest, "My God, you've gotten fat" then smacking the security guys and telling them to "Go check the fence or something."

I sure do! It was at the Soundstage(in the Animation Courtyard), where the Bear & Co show is now.

THey can scale down Mr. Potato all they want but a person needs to fit inside of him and Mr. Potato head has a wide posterior. Too many carbs. :rotfl2:
