I don't know. I don't get it. Yes, as far as cruising goes I am a total newb, as this will be our first cruise. We've been to wdw too many times to count, and dl a few times as well.
Maybe it's just me, but free stuff is free stuff. It's nice of Disney to do it. I don't drink coffee, but if
dcl (or wdw for that matter) gave me a special free container of coffee in my room I would think "That's nice" and give it to someone who would like it.
I see it a lot at wdw, and was hoping not to on the cruise. Some of you know what I am talking about. Those people who just carry themselves with an air of entitlement. They shouldn't stand in lines and have to wait for a fastpass machine (let alone a ride line lol), nothing is ever up to their standards, and they are usually quite vocal about their displeasure. They aren't truly happy with what they have, it's the fact that they have something that others don't that makes them smile.
They aren't happy about being able to afford and take a trip on the new ships, they wan't to be on the FIRST sailing. Why? So they can say they were. umm, ok.
I'm sure I'll get slammed for this, so fire away peeps. It just seems to me that there is an awful lot of glass-half-empty thinking going on in here, rather than focusing on the fact that you even have a glass to begin with. In these economic times, business have a pretty easy "out" to cut all perks and freebies and blame the economy. Disney didn't do that.
I don't know, but I had been brought up to view gifts as just that. Whether it be Christmas, birthdays, or any event. It's not about what I want or need, or "I already have this".
So next time you get your free gift, if it isnt something you want or need, go give it to a family walking around with plain old dcl lanyards. Odds are, they may be grateful.
It's just my $.02, and again I'm sure someone will get their feathers ruffled over this, but It was just fascinating to me as I read that people who are being treated special by dcl, and are being given gifts that not everyone on the ship receives, would then turn around and complain about it.
