NEW Castaway Club Gift

We got the bag and a very nice photo album on our September 19-26th cruise. We were on our 6th cruise

The bag is very well made and the handles are very sturdy. The photo album is really nice too.

Can anyone tell me the dimensions or relative size of the new bag? I just pulled out my travel beach bag for next week's cruise and the zipper is broken. Grrrr. I'm thinking I'll just use that bag. I want to hold sunscreens, three towels, a small bucket and shovels, my camera and our lanyards. I guess the towels we can keep outside of the bag, but it nice to pop them in there when we pick them up at CC upon disembarking.

We just got back and we didn't get the new bag. In fact, I saw a variety of bags walking around the ship. Some of the new burlap and some of the older style (which we got). Not the rope handled one. Ours has regular straps and is sort of grey.

Forgot to report. Cruised on the Wonder 10/18 and got the "old" yellow (gold) canvas bag, with canvas handles, and a large photo album.

It seems odd that they are giving out an assortment of different bags. I wonder what determines which bag you get.

Probably whatever each particular ship has in excess.

Just because different bags are seen on the cruise, doesn't mean that all those bags were given out on that cruise. Some people bring bags that they've already gotten. I believe on any given cruise the same gift is given, but you'll still see other bags (given on a different cruise).

Also, occasionally, when doing a B2B a room host may be able to access different bags for each leg (so that the guest will receive different bags).

"We received one of these bags in each of our staterooms. One of them broke (in two places) before we even got home. And it wasn't overloaded - our six year old was carrying it and was really upset that he "broke" it (totally not his fault.) I sent a note to see if we can get a replacement. Hopefully we can. It's a nice looking bag and our son is still upset about it breaking."

I am happy to report that we were sent a brand new bag. Our son was so happy. (He has autism and can really fixate on things at times.) It was a good example of the classic, exceptional customer service.

Oh, and I can vouch for people using a variety of bags. We took along two different Disney bags - and two Celebrity bags for good measure. So we had quite the collection by the time we got off the ship.

Sailed on the Dream 10/30 cruise and this was the Silver Castaway Club gift. Just the bag.

On the Wonder Oct 11 and Oct 16th cruises, it appeared that they were giving out the new canvas bag to the Platinum cruisers (according to the cruisers in our group that received those) and then the old style to the Gold and Silver cruisers. That make sense if they were trying to clear out the stock of the gold and silver bags first before giving out the new canvas bags to all CC levels.

We will be on the Dream next week for the 3 day cruise. Was wondering what the Silver Castaway Club gift in the room is these days. Past reports have been different bags on different cruises.

The basic gift seems to always be a bag of some sort. On different itineraries it's a different bag, apparently. For the Dream, however, it seems to still be the "regular" beach bag in different colors based on CC level. Unless they've switched to the burlap-looking bag.

Okay Thanks! We were on the Fantasy - western in September and received the burlap bag. Was just wondering if it's a repeat or something different. Anything is great though!

On our cruise in September of 2015 on the Fantasy, we were traveling with a family that was also silver CC. We each got different bags. Our friends got the newer burlap bag and we got the old silver tote with the standard sewen handles (which we already had). When we asked about the discrepancy, especially since we were on our 5th cruise and our friends were on their 3rd, they didn't have a good answer. They did offer to exchange the bag for us for the newer one, provided we returned the original bag, although we had already been using it. We did and got the burlap bag.
