Hi
Can anyone who's flown lately give me info on the carry on restrictions? I've checked them through our airline and know each person is allowed a quart size ziplock bag and the items can not be more than 3oz. My husband and I are traveling with three kids and we all won't have carry on bags can we put more than one quart bag in a carry on if we have enough people (one carry on: two people two quart bags)? Also can I pack our pins in our carry on?

Thank you to anyone who has info

The official rules are on www.tsa.gov

In answer to your specific question, no the 3 oz restriction per one quart bag is for each individual. There is no pooling allowed.

Yeah, stupid rule but that's what it is.:rolleyes1

I think the kids (if they have ticketed seats) also get their 1 baggie, so don't forget about packing something in theirs. I plan to give my girls' backpacks and their baggies will go in there.

The carry-on bags that your kids can carry can be fanny packs or purses or backpacks. In fact, I think each (again, ticketed) person could choose simply to carry on their quart bag of materials so long as they put it on the belt and picked it up. After you go through security, no one checks to see how you've reorganized your carry-on bags.

As for pins, I don't see why they'd be a problem?

Your pins should be fine in your carry on. I had mine in my carry on for my October trip without any problems.

It's being called the 3-1-1 rule.

Each container no larger than 3 ounces.

1 zip-top quart-sized bag, with as many of the above containers as can comfortably fit.

1 such bag per person.

So as everyone else said, if you need more than you and your husband can fit in 2 bags of that size, then one or more of the kids should have a carry-on, also. Even 18 months ago when my kids were 2.5 and 5, they each brought a backpack on the airplane, filled with light snacks, coloring supplies, PJs, change of clothes, etc. We did the same 2 months ago.

Child or not, each ticketed passenger is entitled to one carry-on bag and one personal item.

As for the pins, absolutely no problem whatsoever. They can't exactly be used as weapons. They even allow knitting needles on airliners, so the pins are no problem. Many people have talked about recently bringing Disney pins in carry-ons, including me!

I already have my small bags ready to go, labeled with each travelers name on it. My kids will carry theirs through security in their backpacks and after security check we will place all four bags into the two carryons. This way they can get in and out of their backpacks without having to take the bags out all the time. The carry-ons will go in the overhead bin.

As for the pins, my kids always wear their lanyards onto the plane. DS even has pins attached to his hat. They take them off and run them through security scanner with no problems.

Relax, enjoy your trip.

Yes each person is entitled to one baggie. So before the security take the baggies out of the carry on and put them into the bins. after security put all 4 baggies into one carry on and proceed to your gate.

Just so I'm reading this thread right, the baggie in question is the one that has gel/lotion type items in it right? Like purell and such?

Yes, that's the baggie in question. Ours had Purell, toothpaste, hand lotion etc.

Can't you put your normal sized liquids in your checked bags?

Yes, you can. I have the full size stuff in the checked bags already LOL.

We are carrying some on since we are arriving to the resort before 11am and since I know our room won't be ready before we head out to the parks and so we can freshen up before we have dinner at MGM that day.
