New bypass the front desk question

Just read an article on how you will be able to bypass the front desk check in. I'm wondering how that will work if you have the dining plan because I thought you had to check in, in order to have the dining credits be put on your magic bands.

On my last trip a few weeks ago, I bypassed the front desk but a CM met me outside and walked me to the BCV, then took my MB for a few minutes. I didn't have the dining plan, but he didn't know that (I don't think) and maybe that was one thing he was doing. I don't know what would happen if you could bypass seeing anyone and go directly to your room, though.

I have a feeling not everyone will be able to bypass the front desk. This is probably one of those situations; if you have the dining plan, you'll still have to check in at the desk.

The only thing on your MB is your ID number. They should be able to add the DDP to your MDE account without you having to stop by the front desk.

We are doing a split stay and so it would be great not to have to check in first in order to get the dining credits put on our band. We will not have the DP for the first 2 nights but then we switch to BLT. Hoping they will be able to automatically put them on!
