This is not news to veterens of these boards, but some newbies are not familiar with BLT. I see many postings of new members (mostly at AKV). Welcome home to all of you. New and prospective new members should know that Disney is going to announce a new DVC location at the Contemporary resort probabaly the end of this month. I do not mention this to be a bubble burster but to inform those who do not know of these plans. You wouldn't want to buy a 2008 car, and then next week the shiny new and improved 2009 model is introduced. There is alot of info on these boards about the new property (BLT). Remember if you recently purchased you have 10 days to change your mind. I added on at AKV last week and had second thoughts when units at BLT were declared 2 days later. But I love AKV and will keep it my home away from home.

True. But we're the kind of people who forego the flash of the "shiny new model," and value the reduced price we pay for the "mostly new" one. :thumbsup2

See you around AKV with all the financially savvy car owners. :)

i couldn't agree with you better wrighter and pinnocchiosdad!
we just bought into AKK last week in chicago at $96 point. i was not going to wait for BLT and pay more just to be there. my family and i are excited to be at AKK, see everyone there.

We bought AKV yesterday and wouldn't change it for anything! My DH is not a fan of the Contemporary's theme and we paid 96pp as well so I can bet that BLT will be more $ per point, I'll keep our home at AKV

I am going to the Doorway to Dreams today to sign my final paperwork for our 210 pts at AKV. :cool1: I could not be happier! :yay: We paid $96/pt, $1000 gift card, "free" 5-night stay Savannah View at AKV next summer, plus FPs for our trip. This is a much better situation for our family. If we want to add on points later we can, but I am hoping that a DVC is built at Poly. Then, I would be very happy to have points near MK.

good luck P&B's Mom, we just closed there last Saturday. Diane Manuel was our guide, and closed with Chris. Ask about the $25 mall gift card and passes, for your family to the Legoland Discovery center that is right across from the mall, we got both those.

P&B's Mom - How did you end with a $1000 gift card, if you don't mind my asking? We are preparing our paperwork for 260 AKV points, and received a $500 gift card. Want to make sure we aren't missing something! :-)

Ah, yes we would - as would many other posters here. Our family car is always a 1 year-old model, as the depreciation is far too high for us to get a new car every 12 years.

Thanks to sound finanical thinking like ours, we are on our 2nd condo (almost paid off), and our 3rd DVC contract . . . and we can afford to have 6 weeks of Disney vacations a year. Our old "rusty previous-year models" of OKW and SSR are resorts that we love and we got them for good value, considering the "mileage" we've had out of them!

What a statement!

I'm sure P&B's Mom will chime it as well...but I believe they are getting the $500 giftcard because it was an add-in as there are slightly different promos running right now.

You might want to question your guide about whether or not you'd qualify for better incentives to do an initial contract of 160 pts...then immediately do an add-on for the other 100.

I think this is a valid post as it is good to have ALL the info before buying. We were misled a bit about the home resort situation. We still would have bought but I felt they were less than upfront about it and it left a slightly bad taste in my mouth. I've since gotten over it, because my DH was fine with it and he was the one I was worried about.

Great point. But my only intention in the post is to let new buyers know what is around the corner. Because you know darn well that no salesperson (guide) is going to (or allowed) to mention BLT to new buyers. Once buyers know there options, its up to them to make the decision, but I nor you should have to make a decission without knowing all that is available to you or your money.

No interest in doing more than a possible 25 pt add on at BLT (if even that - the building is going to have to be fantastic beyond belief to make me want it as CR is just cement city with a few great features (sorry walt! I know you designed this for epcot!)). I LOVE AKV and am sure I want to own VWL once the time is right - I think 18 mos down the road is about right.

BTW - Not sure If I count as 'new' or not. Even though I just bought in at the end of August, I've been researching, renting, playing with point charts and following the news for DVC for 4 years now

I think that all I need is 25 points at BLT. Like so many of you, I would like to try BLT while it still has that new resort smell! Two or three years worth of points should give 2 or three nights in a one BR during January. :cool1:

We were "kind of" in the position the OP mentions last year/early this year when we joined, except it was SSR vs AKV - but AKV won hands down, even if the point price was slightly more. BUT - if it were between AKV and BLT - then AKV wins hands down for us again... sure having the ability to stay on the monorail line in a DVC might be nice, and someday we'll see if we can't use our points there... personally I'm waiting to spend my extra DVC $ and get points at DL's VCG.
