Hi Everyone. I know it's been a while, but here is the latest installment of my DIS blog series, Culinary Quest. This visit took us to Plaza Inn on Main St. To read all about it, click here.

Thanks Tony, have not been there in a couple of years.

Great report, we love the Plaza, whether it's brunch with Minnie & Friends, a fried chicken dinner ~ plenty of food for sharing, or enjoying a Hot Chocolate during the Christmast Fireworks :lovestruc

I must confess I've never eatern here, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We're booked for breakfast next month but I think we just might stop here for lunch or dinner too.

Wow, we've never been there either. In fact, I don't think I've even noticed it! I'm glad you are doing this so I can see what what we've over looked.

I have not usually liked breakfast there but have ALWAYS loved their comfort food dinners!!

Just to let everyone know, you can get a chicken breast with the kids chicken meal (I think it costs $1 more), but they aren't required to get the baked chicken leg, you just have to pay to "upgrade" it.

Also, with the adult chicken meal, you can get two breasts instead of the breast/thigh/wing (once again, I think the cost is a little more, but not sure how much)

Hope that helps the people that have little ones that don't like dark meat.

That's good to know. I prefer white meat and will pay to upgrade. :thumbsup2

Boy, I wish I knew that. I had 3 huge pieces, 2 of which I did not want, and one undercooked breast. When a CM asked me to fill out a card I did gladly and complained to him about too much food for one person, (what was I going to do with the leftovers) and the breast not being cooked, he just smiled and gave me a card. When someone came to clear our table I complained that the breast wasn't cooked, he smiled and took it away. I really should have gone up and formally complained, but I didn't want to leave my granddaughter alone at the table.

Thanks for the information. We stopped going there a while back, but tried it again pretty recently and I felt the fried chicken was very much improved. So yummy. I also have a beef with the beef (where is the bad joke smilie?).

Thanks for taking the time to post reviews. They are always so positive and helpful.:goodvibes

Thanks, great blog! In all the years that I've been going, I've never eaten here. Quick question: I had the fried chicken at the French Market and thought it was dreadful. Is the chicken at the Plaza Inn the same stuff they serve at the French Market? I'm hoping not. Thanks!

Also, on nights when the park closes at midnight, Plaza Inn is open until 11:00 while most of the restaurants close at 10:00 (or earlier).

We haven't eaten at French Market in ages, so I couldn't say for sure, but I would not say the chicken at PI was even close to dreadful. It was really quite good...a little greasy maybe, but hey, it's fried chicken. Based on your description, I'd say they probably have different chicken recipes, or else FM was having an off day.

French Market is on our list for Culinary Quest, but I'm not sure when we'll get there. I'll have to do a fried chicken comparison, but I'll spare everyone from another Venn diagram.

Thanks! FM was just a mess when we ate there. The kids meal was gross, my son wouldn't touch it and the queue was so disorganized, CM's working behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were supposed to be doing as they kept randomly moving from station to station. It was a short line, no more then 4 people ahead of me and it took about 30 min. I look forward to hear if you have a better experience. Hopefully it was an off day for FM. I'll give the fried chicken a go at PI, your picture looked great!

Thanks for the review Tony. Plaza Inn is one of our "musts" every trip, mostly because it is so pretty in there and classic Disneyland to us. The food is not really our taste; we call it "stick to your ribs";). We usually like to eat lighter than that, but we love the chicken dinner and find it is so large we can share an order. The drink refills are a nice touch too.

I really think they've changed their chicken recipe lately. We've eaten it at Plaza Inn and French Market in the past and it was dreadful in both places. This last trip we figured we'd give it another try at the PI and it was fantastic.

No worries. They don't serve Fried Chicken at the French Market anymore. When they changed the menu to healthier options last year, they removed it and put in a citrus marinaded rotisserie/baked chicken instead. It is very nice and my kids will always eat it.

As an interesting note, the chicken at the Plaza is actually broasted and not simply fried. It's a slightly heathier alternative to standard deep frying that produces the same result in the coating texture. http://www.broaster.com/bbetter.htm

Personally, I liked the Venn diagram! :thumbsup2
