new blog: The Sights of Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland

As I said on your other post, I am shocked that you as a moderator would take flash pictures on a dark ride. I would think you would want to set a better example for the members of this community. (I am paraphrasing here)

They clearly state no flash pictures at the beginning of the ide, at bare minimum the final picture on your blog post was taken with a flash, perhaps others were too, I am not sure.

Thanks for reminding our readers of that. :)

BTW for correct information - I, the author - am not a forum moderator. Let me respond to you as I did in two other locations - the podcast board and This response was copied and pasted directly from my response on the blog feedback.

To let everyone know, these photos are a collection taken at various times and from various ride-throughs.

The final photo was taken during an end-of-the-night ride with many empty doombuggies around us. We had a 5-10 minute stand-still in that spot – directly in front of the Spiral Hill. No photo was taken until after about 15 or more flashes went off around me. I guess there were a lot of people that wanted to get the perfect shot that they would never normally get in a moving, low light situation!

It doesn’t make it right to take a photo on a dark ride during normal touring circumstances and this one was definitely not normal.

Besides, as you can see in that photo, sometimes having that classic brighter shot can expose details that might “illuminate” some of the surprises to the magic. The Haunted Mansion is definitely a very different place with the lights on!

I have to agree with the pp about being disappointed in the dis posting picutres so obviously taken with a flash during a dark ride.

I also find the excuse that it was late and there were empty doom buggies lame as an excuse for a not normal touring situation. Anyone could take that logic and apply it to them.

The rule simply is no flash pictures on dark rides. Either this dis offically supports that rule (for everyone, no special cases) or it doesn't. By posting the pictures I take it that the Dis does not hold to that rule.

You decided to take pictures on a dark ride and post them on a forum where people jump all over anyone who admit to taking pictures during a dark ride. There is going to be fall out. It is the Dis afterall.

Hey, thanks for the pics - I never seem to be able to get to any of the Disney Parks during major holidays*.
Folks like you remind us of what we are missing.
