new blog: President Obama Issues Executive Order at Disney World, Why?

It's OK with me. Florida and Disneyworld are all about American Tourism. I don't see the President's appearance and Executive Order at WDW as political. I see it as the promotion of good US policy and American goodwill. We have to compete for tourist dollars against other countries and their offerings. It's not a slam-dunk that people visit America for vacation.

It's not a slam-dunk that people visit America for vacation.

We went on a Med cruise in 2010, and asked our many guides whether or not they had visited the US. All said no, and all said that they really had little interest in doing so. We were up in Nova Scotia last fall. Our guide had never been to the U.S., and again, showed little interest in ever visiting here. Even Disney World! I was surprised by that.

I thought the speech to be in poor taste whether it is the president or any other political individual republican, democratic or whoever. Why deliver the message in front of the castle? I understand the president’s message but why not deliver at Disney’s corporate offices? I feel bad for people visiting for the very first time with their loved ones and not being able to experience that first glance down Main Street only to see a boarded partition covered in green vines. I don’t think tourism overall is going to increase until the economy starts to go up, internationally governments and people are still faced with economic challenges, not to mention domestically US residents are still losing their homes :sad1:
