New APs? Will this affect DVC passes?

After being on hold for an hour, I was told that "Memory Maker is unfortunately non-refundable" and the given a separate phone number for ticketing but "that office is currently closed." I was told to call ticketing 407-566-4985 and choose option #5 - hours are 8am-7pm EST per the cast member I spoke to. Anecdotally, other DISers have reported being given refunds but I am frankly not holding my breath.

Let me know if you have any luck!

I dislike the fact that the DVC discounts offered for AP do not include DLR. As a DVC member I travel all the time between both WDW and DLR but I live in SoCal and visit DLR more often. Come on DVC get on the ball or at least offer a discount on the Premier Pass that works at both WDW and DLR!

DVC has ZERO control over what tickets & discounts are made available by Disney. All DVC can do is ask.

This is quite on purpose -- Disney is trying even harder to reduce demand at DLR -- it's way over crowded. I don't see that ever changing unless DLR relocates (gasp).

For renewals it has been 60 days before or 30 days after. I haven't seen the 30 days after still around on the updated sites. Has anyone?? TIA
You can purchase an AP renewal certificate prior to 60 days. I've done so twice. Of course this would have been nice to know on Saturday ;)

So just got done "chatting" with members service about specific questions I had.

The renewal period hasn't changed. 60 days before expiration and 30 days after expiration.

Photo pass download is similar to memory maker and you can download all photos including attractions and restaurant photos.

He said I can have memory maker refunded and removed from my upcoming vacation next week by actually calling Members Services. Which I am in the process of doing now. Will update once done.

Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade from gold to platinum after purchase? Meaning if you bought a gold pass for $549 and went off season. Then decide you want to go during black out could you upgrade for $100?

Yes, you just pay the difference.

Not sure this was in reference to what I stated previously, but just to clarify, the renewal period has always been 60 days before/30 days after, but in spite of this you still have been able to pre-purchase AP renewal certificates prior to 60 days. DVC MS will know nothing about this. You have to call ticketing.

Ok...one of the differences between the memory maker and the annual pass photopass is the annual pass photopass does NOT include ride videos AND magic shots. That was per MS phone convo.

Also to get a refund for memory maker if you purchased: if you purchased from MS directly, then call them for the refund. If you purchased through my disney experience then you have to call ticketing at 407-566-4985. Which is currently who I am on eternal hold with.

Thanks. May go this route instead of buying platinum off the bat. Going in April 2016 so the gold is fine. May go back Easter 2017 but if I can upgrade next year doesn't pay to buy platinum now

If they are going to offer us fl resident passes like the gold, then we should be able to choose the silver. We don't go in the summer and don't want photo pass.

I agree! That would be great.

No reference to anything anyone said. Just posting responses to specific questions I had and posting reponses in case it helps someone else. I didn't ask anything re certificates with MS because it doesn't really pertain to my situation. My PAP expires approx a week prior to our check in. I bought a base ticket few months ago so I could book FP and then upgrade those base tickets to AP renewal. Was just asking them if the 30 day window still applied ☺️

Ride photos are automatically added to your PhotoPass, so I don't see why they would be any different. I would take anything DVC MS tells you is huge grain of salt, unless you were talking with a PhotoPass CM. Tons of people have already gotten AP PhotoPass added to their MDE, so should be simple enough for someone to confirm if they can download ride photos.

Does anyone else fear that, with the new AP structuring, certain discounts, especially restaurant discounts, may soon be only for Platinum or above, that the Gold and Silver AP holders won't be eligible, Maybe I'm just getting a little nervous here about things.

I understand to take what MS and CM with caution. All photos/videos now get attached to you MB's regardless if you purchase any or the MM or AP. And you can view them them regardless of purchasing them, MM or AP. But you can't download and save them unless you purchase them or have memory maker. If someone reports they can do this with AP, then fantastic!!!

It's a good strategy -- buy Gold, then upgrade to Platinum if and when you ever need it. You can do the same thing with Water Park APs -- buy Gold then add Water Park AP for $110/$99 (renewal rate is even less) starting when you actually want to use it rather than paying the premium for Platinum Plus up front.

Had no difficulty getting refund for my purchased memory maker when I called ticketing.

Saw this was confirmed yesterday in another thread:
I upgraded today and I am getting ride photos, videos, and photos just like with memory maker. The expiration date on the photos is like a year from now. So far I'm happy.
My husband and son's pic are both being shown on MDE. Even ride photos. Since we do single rider a good bit, they have scanned theirs separately from mine.
