So I am trying to get a few questions answered.
First - is the 13 month offer for all or is it just for current AP or DVC members?

This starts 10/2 correct? I am online and it is still technically 10/1 so it doesn't note the change.

Say i purchase now - can i wait to activate it for my April 2017 trip? -- if so this will be perfect because i have an April 2018 trip planned but my dates were not going to work for an AP but with this change it will work out.

If i buy the AP, but it can't be activated until i am at the park then is there a way i can do FP selections or would i have to wait for the 30day mark like everyone else. It doesn't really matter for my first trip because that is for a conference and rundisney so not really a park trip.

I don't understand.
If you already had an activated AP, you'd have to wait until 30 days before to book FP+.

The only guests who can book FP+ more than 30 days in advance are guests with WDW resort reservations.

If you do have WDW resort reservations and you buy an AP voucher (unactivated AP,) you can book FP+ as early as 60 days in advance of your check-in date.

We do have reservations- the only question was how, if not technically activated until i get to the park, could you do the FP. I guess it would be on my MDE website. The whole activation part is what is really confusing me.

If you link your AP verification number in your MDE account, you can BOOK FP+ 60 days in advance via your MDE account.

There is nothing complex to activating an AP.
Just go to any ticket booth or Guest Relations with a legal photo ID.
This is true for any member of your party, 18 years and older.

Not confused on the actual activation it self, but whether or not there is any limitations on the activation and getting the 13 months. Can i buy now and activate in April? Im guessing i can. It looks like on the website that i must purchase by Jan 3rd, so activation for anyone would be on their next trip to the parks.

Yes, you can purchase now, and activate in the park, and still get your 60 day FP window with your reservation. I believe any AP purchased between now and Jan 3 gets your 13 months from activation.

I just called Disney to verify that I could buy in advance and activate it the first week of July, 2017, when we were planning on getting them anyway. I also checked on using the 10 day unused tickets from UT that we had bought last February before a ticket increase. The agent said they could be used as partial payment for an AP but it would have to be done in person, not over the phone. If done in person, I'm assuming that the price of the previously bought tickets would not be bridged, as I'm not activating them before upgrading to AP's. I'll probably keep the tickets and buy the $749 AP (13 month AP's don't include water parks) and wait until early December to see if Target offers a holiday sale on Target gift cards. Then, use the Target cards to buy Disney gift cards online with a RedCard, to get the extra 5% discount. The Disney rep did say that only two Disney gift cards can be used per purchase over the phone, but cards can be combined up to $1,000, so that isn't a problem.

1. I also checked on using the 10 day unused tickets from UT that we had bought last February before a ticket increase.
The agent said they could be used as partial payment for an AP but it would have to be done in person, not over the phone.
2. If done in person, I'm assuming that the price of the previously bought tickets would not be bridged,
3. as I'm not activating them before upgrading to AP's.
4. I'll probably keep the tickets and buy the $749 AP (13 month AP's don't include water parks) and wait until early December to see if Target offers a holiday sale on Target gift cards. Then, use the Target cards to buy Disney gift cards online with a RedCard, to get the extra 5% discount.
5.The Disney rep did say that only two Disney gift cards can be used per purchase over the phone,
6. but cards can be combined up to $1,000, so that isn't a problem.

1. Yes, that's true.
2. Nope. Not true.
3. That is not necessary.
4. You can, if you like, but it's not necessary.
5. Even that can be managed in a pinch.
6. Ture, again.

1) So, I can use my unused tickets as partial payment and pay the bridged price
2) it's not necessary to buy Target, and then Disney gift cards to buy the APs. I'd rather save the 10-15% discount that I would get on the $1,500 total purchase price. Just using the Red Card to purchase Disney gift cards woul give me a 5% discount.

There are a bunch of posts on the budget board, but you can no longer combine a 5% red card discount online when using target gift cards to purchase. The order gets cancelled immediately. You can buy Disney gift cards in store with a target gift card still it seems, but not online with the extra 5%.

I haven't followed the Disney gift card thread in awhile, so thanks for the information. I'm not into churning cards fro EBay or Cardpool, so I'll wait to see f Target puts their gift cards on sale this December. If not, I'll buy Disney gift cards with my RedCard and at least get the 5% discount.
